The El Capitan charges of Premium. I urge you to pay that premium because the experience at the El Capitan is not like going to see a movie anywhere else. I saw Star Wars the Force awakens there and before the movie started there was a robotic lightsaber show all the way around the theater and then pyrotechnics before the movie started. And this happens for all of Disney's blockbusters. Plus it's a historic Art Deco movie theater that's been restored to its original grandeur.

This is a wonderful, fun place to see a movie! They actually have a live comedy act (about 30 min long) before the movie so you will want to get there early. It is an old theater so don't expect lounging chairs. The seats were not uncomfortable to me. They even had display cases of some of the actual costumes the actors wore in the move. That was a treat. Even though this Theater is on Hollywood Blvd. we did not have trouble finding a nearby place to park.

Old school theater. Has an organist that plays Disney music while everyone is getting to their seats. When the doors close, there is a live show, themed to the movie that will be playing. Overall a great experience.

I enjoyed this awesome experience, I saw Black Panther with a friend which was his first time. Fans were enthusiastic and the energy in the El Capitan Theatre was phenomenal. They had a DJ which kept the fans entertained till the show started they also had souvenirs, and great costumes downstairs and information from the movie.

Great customer service! Horrible Horrible uncomfortable seats!!! The seats have no knee space and you're literally touching the person side by side to you. You can't move without rubbing your neighbor. You cannot stretch your legs. CHANGE YOUR SEATS! I won't be coming back here because of the uncomfortable seats. I'd rather go to the grove where tickets are cheaper and OMG their seats are so comfortable with so much room. Theatre is nice, seats suck.

If i could say one thing about El Capitan, its this: booga, booga, boo-Which roughly translated and distilled into our barbaric, neolithic, monosyllabic language would be- it is a great place!

Let's over complicate this, shall we....

It manifests mythic and glamorized old hollywood and does something that other theatres don't- it gives you an experience. It gives you the awe of cinema unlike any other theatre I have ever gone to. It is an amazing experience!! One I will always have me coming back, clamoring for more!

this is one of the old-fashioned but restored movie palaces. It's now owned by Disney. When it first opened they had these wonderful live stage shows before the movies which was incredible. People were told to get there early for the live Crystal curtain show. Not only did that not start early it started after the official show time of the movie.the really cool part is in the basement there is a display of costumes and props from Mary Poppins returns.

The last time I was at El Capitan was to watch Ratatouille. At that time we had to make line outside in order to get in because there was no assigned seating. So I was over the moon when I went this past weekend to watch Christopher Robin. No waiting in line outside! Just straight to our assigned seats. We did have some issues with our tickets but the staff was kind and helped us to our seats. The jazz band that played before the movie began was just lovely and such a treat.

We watch Star War Last Jedi in this cinema in January 2020. It is retro and entertaining. Costumed actors were interfering with spectators before the start on the movie. An old fascion organ was playing. A lazer show opened the cermony. It was a memorable experience in Hollywood.

A great place for kids of all ages. Real life characters. Most Disney movies include live characters coming down the aisles to the stage, sing-alongs and afterwards there's a soda fountain as you leave the lobby.

For adults, the balcony seat hurts your throat.
VIP is about taking pictures of popcorn drinks, so regular tickets are okay.
It is fun because there are prize lottery events and various events before the movie screening.

A definite Disney-fied movie experience.

A definite Disney-fied movie experience.

The pre show is always fun, the host always welcoming, and the bonus museum or meet and greets downstairs are fun. Plus, the theater is gorgeous in itself.

It may cost more, but they give you an experience beyond just the movie. You won't be disappointed.

The reason for my rating, has to do with service provided during a negative outcome.
I attempted to purchase a ticket for the Marvel 22 marathon, however due to the traffic, the website did not accept my credit card number as I was in Canada.

The Cast members(Tiffany, Bernadette, Roger, Sharon, (Your day manager), and anyone else I missed) were up at 4:00 Am in anticipation of the 5:00 am release, and everyone I dealt with was professional and courteous give the circumstances.
The Manager attempted to get approval to get tickets for the Canadian guests affected by this situation, and they had called me back, but I had made other accommodations.
I don't get this level of service in Canada and we only have about 2 major movie Chains.
I hope Kevin Feige and Bob Iger understand the support system they have in place selling their movies, and the staff are recognized for their efforts.

Thank you to all the staff at El Capitan Movie theater I dealt with for your efforts.

My first visit to El Capitan was when I was a kid and my cousin took me to watch Pocahontas :) She even bought me a commemorative pin that had El Capitan's name and Pocahontas' picture on it. Such nostalgia!

Nowadays I always keep up with this theater's showings since I love their gallery shows downstairs that give the visit extra oomph. I also dress up sometimes depending on the movie theme.

I've watched:

- Iron Man 3 3D
- The Wind Rises (Hayao Miyazaki's last film in Japanese audio)
- The Little Mermaid (Dressed up as Nerdy Ariel)
- Nightmare Before Christmas (Dressed up as Wednesday Addams Sally)

I had VIP seats for Iron Man 3D but I don't mind the general seating at all as I prefer the balcony area.

Overall a beautiful and nostalgic setting to enjoy specific movies :)

Cheap $2 parking with validation at Hollywood and Highland too!

Or take the Red Line Metro.

Love this theater!

This movie house is very unique. They also feature here rare films, documentaries, and short films. The seats are plush and comfy over sized theater style. It is very pleasing and private. Spotless, well taken-cared of. The owner is super friendly and accommodating. They sell refreshments available for a very affordable price.

Historic. Legendary. Beautiful. A true piece of Hollywood history.

Seemingly unknown to the swaths of tourists passing by every day is that they offer tours for a little less than the price of a movie ticket. This is great if you want to see all inside the theater and do not have much time to sit and watch a movie. The lady at the ticket booth said nearly no-one asks for the tours, although they do offer them by request.

Our tour guide was also the "popcorn boy" and was very kind and knowledgeable. He took us into all the areas of the theater and explained the long history of what had gone on there. The tour lasted 45 minutes. At the end we even got free popcorn. Awesome.

I will be back to see a movie inside, they have one of the first in the nation dual 4K projectors in there. Incredible clarity.

It is in front of Hollywood Highland. It was built in 1926 and is registered as a cultural heritage of Los Angeles.
At that time it was used as a theater, but now Disney manages and is used as a movie theater.
In order to appreciate the movie, there are 1F seats 2F seats, but the 1F seats are easier to see.

This place is just awesome. You can say it's just a movie theater, but Disney really goes the extra mile to make it an experience with driving to Hollywood for. Get there early and get in to enjoy whatever sort of pre movie entertainment they have in store for you. Heads up, the lines to get in can be pretty ridiculous, but they move pretty fast and seats are reserved. Stay after the show to explore the theater a bit and see some costumes and props from the movie. During the show, just sit back and enjoy the atmosphere in a fully restored, historic theater. It's simply amazing, and must be experienced.

This is a nice experience when they have the preshow entertainment. The theater is small, parking sucks and the seats aren't that comfortable. But the decor is great at the experience is not your average theater.

Fairytale-like experience, starting with a live organ performance right before the movies, then the curtains being pulled like in the real theater, and a cherry on top of the pie was the beautiful exhibit of the real movie props.
