There are some very good things, but also some less good ones. I'm going to try to write them down as best I can.
If you're going to book a 5-star hotel, you expect everything to be TOP. Unfortunately this is not the case. The staff at the reception are not as friendly as you will expect in Bali. At check-in we had a lady who didn't look at us, who was doing half other things, laughing with colleagues and throwing our cards at the counter instead of giving them to us neatly. She pointed in a direction and there had to be our room somewhere, she gave no further explanation even after asking it again. She gave us the special room with garden view, especially to us. But we had just booked this... a little strange. The suitcases came only after 3 hours and twice called the reception to the room.
The room was old-fashioned. It was fine but very dated. It smelled musty. The air conditioning could be set to different positions, but there was only ice-cold air coming out. The difference with outside was too cold, this was unfortunately not pleasant. The bed was very nice and was very large. The view of the garden was nice. The bathroom was fine. However, the bath had a shower curtain. If you book a 5 star hotel you expect absolutely no sticky and dirty shower curtain.
The facilities at the hotel were great. Beautiful swimming pools, good restaurants and breakfast was very extensive and neat. We enjoyed this to the fullest.
On the last day we flew back late. We wanted to arrange a late check out for this at the reception. We are absolutely not awful to extra pay for this. The gentleman of the reception was not very friendly and very direct. For 6 hours extra (until 18.00 hours instead of 12.00 hours) was a considerable amount asked and the hotel was far from full.
All in all it did not meet our expectations. If you book a 5 star hotel you expect good, friendly and nice service. If you check in after a long trip and you are not even kindly helped at the reception... a pity!
