Discover UMES Channel Review

UMES is a beautiful diverse campus that has a lot to offer new and current students. Granted, UMES was not my first choice, but I do NOT regret coming here. One of my favorite attributes of UMES is the many clubs and organizations specifically Bible Study! I attend Bethel Campus Fellowship at UMES on Wednesdays at 7:30 at the SSC 2nd floor tundra. It is just a positive experience. All in all, this school is what you make it. You get what you put out. If you come here and do nonsense, you will get nonsense back. But if you come here with the right state of mind and the intention to succeed, success is inevitable! I LOVE MY U to my M to my E to my S!! I love my UMES! Hawk Pride! CATCH IT!

SUPER WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE. MY DAUGHTER WAS TOUCHED BY HOW ORGANIZED THE OPEN HOUSE (APRIL 27, 2018) WAS AND THE VERY BEAUTIFUL AND SPACIOUS CAMPUS. WHAT REALLY SOLD HER WAS DURING THE STUDENT BREAKOUT SESSION AND SHE MET A NEW FRIEND. ALSO THE FINANCIAL AID OFFICE WAS VERY PLEASANT AND WELCOMING. THE YOUNG BROTHER AT THE FRONT DESK WHO HELPED US WAS DELIGHTFUL. THE ADVISOR FROM THE SPECIAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT EVEN EMAILED HER LATER THAT DAY THANKING HER FOR HER INTEREST IN THAT PROGRAM. UMES HERE SHE COMES...... FALL 2018.

Great school. It has a lot of great programs. And has that small town charm!

Terrible school. 81% of students drop out, and the average GPA is just a 2.7! There's a reason this school is cheaper than most other public schools in Maryland.

I do not recommend the UMES school of pharmacy to anyone some of the staff are helpfull but most are a bunch of snitch and very very racist particularly the Assistant Dean watchout for him.

Working with the UMES folks to screen/test ALL new/returning students for the Covid19 for 2020 fall semester.

Its a shame to see the school these days like a ghost town literally

Don't waste you time and money. The classes are a joke and the University keeps changing there credit criteria so you spend a more time and money jumping though their ever changing hoops, trying to get to graduation! The University is only concern it's self and it's image and has no respect or concern for their students!!!

Umes is a great school; don't let anyone fool you ;before you judge it get more information about the school. My experience here I always found instructors here who want you to do your best and push you to be successful. Success isn't determined by the school it's determined by you. I am a UMES graduate and I must say that I had an AWESOME experience in all of my years. The professors were phenomenal! I majored in Business Education and played Volleyball. I was a true athlete and surrounded myself with my sister (Jacke Mims) and other athletes. We had fun, but we knew what we were their for. This is a unique University, it's small and feels like a family. I absolutely loved it!

Campus police are not student friendly, they profile, intimidate and harass students incidence on campus that could be rectified results in police misconduct falsifying reports students charged with bogus felononies escalating into the Maryland Court System and most of the school officials that are involved in the Student Management turn a blind eye and never interject on the students behalf not to mention the Student not only have to contend with the County but also student conduct charges to which they take the false reports at face value leaving the Student guilty til proven innocent. But in the meantime the Student has to contend with a record of felony charges and court proceedings. If my son didn't like the school in spite of what I mentioned in my post I would not recommend this HBCU at all they're student support organizations are headed by attention title getters who do not perform according to the responsibility and accountability of their titles and this surmise includes Ms Heidi.

Honestly having attended a mid-major University (Ohio Univ) and transferring to UMES. I don't regret my decision nor experiencing the family environment; or countless of times having to eat late nights at the Hawks nest with friends/classmates. This University was true to its core. There were many teachers whom went beyond the classroom limits to help, aid; house some of these students whom just wanted to finish school but was experiencing some challenging moments. I'm not going to lie...you have novices working especially in the Financial Aid office that are more a hinderance then a help.

Great school, great people, and a lot of fun! I miss it
