I was very impressed with this office and how professional everyone was. I felt less stressed about my jaw pain situation after meeting the front desk lady, the dentist (Dr. Tran) and the tech. I knew I was in good hands and I felt that all of them were smart and caring. In addition, the financial aspects of the procedure were clearly explained to me before and after my insurance was applied. Lastly, I felt the dentist was genuinely concerned about my pain level. He did what he had to do and at the same time kept pain to a minimum. I was impressed. I came into the office with terrible jaw pain but left feeling at ease and comfortable.

I was very nervous going in to the dentist, but Dr. Gray and his staff put me at ease. Both the dentist and his staff did their best at explaining what s going on and keeping me as comfortable as possible throughout my procedure. If I could give more stars, I would. Very professional and clean. The office s location was very convenient and central to Houston.
I met this Dentist Dr Tran over 5 years ago and if it wasnt for his will to keep finding ways to not let me give up I would lost every tooth. I never ever met any dentist that makes it his personal mission to try every aspect and thought of what the best outcome for my teeth. I have never met any dentist in my entire life that has the compassion he does to help people with Dental issues. I drive over 1 hr each way and I will keep taking that drive. When u actually find the 1 dentist that you can sit in his chair and not have that worry about being scammed and that feeling in your gut that everything is gonna be ok means your have found the rite 1.Thank you for everything..

I have never left a review for a business, however, I want my experience to help others in the future when seeing Dr. Tran. Previously, I have visited my former dentist for years near the part of Houston I grew up in, but wanted to find someone trustworthy near my home. The office is beautiful & the staff is very friendly, but I feel as if Dr. Tran is definitely a salesman. He suggested I needed an extensive cleaning on my bottom teeth and a crown to cover a cavity, quoting $965 with my dental insurance. The way I was presented with the price was uncomfortable and pushy, I was there for a cleaning and a check up the previous week and I felt as if it would have been more upfront for the cost to be quoted then. I politely said I wanted to weigh out my options before proceeding. I decided to visit my previous dentist with the x rays from Dr. Trans office and get an additional check up with him. He told me I did not even have a cavity to begin with.
Best Dentist I've ever been to. Consider your search over and make an appointment. The office is beautiful, staff is professional and courteous, and Dr. Tran was extremely thorough during the exam and did the cleaning himself. Truly a great experience.
Please be aware this office performs unnecessary procedures. My daughter went in last week and was charged hundreds of dollars for procedures that insurance did not cover. She was new to the city and thought she was going to a professional office. Unfortunately - she learned a life lesson that all doctors are not professional.
I'm usually not one to rate businesses; however, in this particular instance I felt rather taken advantage of and felt that Dr. Tran had lied to me. I spent $225 replacing a chipped tooth, which fell off within 36 hours. I am giving him 2 stars because he told me the filler may fall off in a day, but two other professionals (one endodontist and one dentist) told me this should never be the case, and that it was most likely a cheap filler that would fall off and make me want to get a crown. Dr. Tran discussed the crown option with me the day of my appointment, and tried to suggest the $1600 crown over the $500 porcelain one. Looking back at my visit, I believe he was more of a salesman than a dentist.

Easily scheduled an appointment for a cleaning. Got in the next morning. Quick and easy to use iPads to fill out New Patient Forms (as it was my first visit here). The office is very beautiful, comfortable and in a great location. When I arrived for my appointment, the receptionist got up out of her chair to greet me and make sure I knew how to get started on the iPads filling out information and asked me if I would like any coffee/water/etc. The entire staff was immediately welcoming, very helpful, knowledgable and friendly from the front of the office to the back. The hygienist that cleaned my teeth was wonderful! She did a great job of being delicate and taking her time to make sure I was always comfortable. Dr. Tran was the same way as the rest of his office staff - a very pleasant, patient doctor that showed true compassion in his work and about me as his patient. He took his time and carefully listened to me and let me ask as many questions as I wanted, then he would respond in understandable terms for me as a patient. He showed me my X-Rays and pointed out different areas that he needed to explain - to me, this shows that he is very upfront and trustworthy. Can't wait for my next cleaning visit! As an established patient of Dr. Tran for 8 years, he is the best dentist in Houston! To be honest, I would never let anyone touch my teeth! Dr. Tran takes his time to explain the best care options, and he does not force unnecessary procedures for monetary gains. I came in for a regular cleaning on today, and I needed a crown because I had a crack in my tooth from all the raw carrots I eat(lol). Dr. Tran explained the process and performed the procedure with advanced dental technology. His assistants, Karina and Dalia, were amazing, and they made the process less intimidating. In addition, Marcy, his office manager, called my insurance company to negotiate a lower price for my dental mouthguard because it's so expensive! I drive 30 minutes to see Dr. Tran, and he is worth the drive so please do not hesitate to schedule an appointment with him today.

I really like this clinic! I think they provide advanced technology and treatments. For example, my gums were sore for years. At other dentist clinics, I was given the same advice, floss and brush better. At Discover Dental, they put a treatment plan together that consisted of an antibacterial and a light treatment. This killed the bacteria causing my gums to be sore. My gums haven t hurt since. I also appreciate that the dentist actually spends time looking at my teeth and talking to me. Everyone is nice and the office is very clean. When I talk about my dentist, people typically respond, I m jealous! Mine doesn t do that!

I visited Dr. Tran because I live in the Heights and wanted an office convenient and close to home so that I can visit on time for checks ups. I also had an interest in a bit of cosmetic work to get my smile whiter and prettier. I was a bit nervous to try out a new doctor but I definitely was satisfied after my first visit as a new patient. The office was clean and professional, plus the staff was accommodating, friendly and made me feel right at home! A+ on the ease of becoming a new patient as everything is up with the times with technology and was as easy as 1-2-3. I had my first consultation with Dr. Tran and his communication was on point. He even did my first cleaning! My treatment plan was also doable and I have plans to make my next appointment soon. I was impressed and they have earned a new patient for sure.

They made me drive all the way out there just to tell me that i have to pay up front until my insurance pays for it. I ride Uber and it costed me $19 there and $28 back. I basically made a blank trip when they could ve told me this over the phone
I came across this location back in 2017 after having a poor experience at Pearl Dentistry and I'm so thankful that I did. Dr. Tran and his staff have been such a blessing! He's very knowledgeable and isn't pushy unlike many dentist I've seen reviews on around town. Now I can only speak on his teeth cleaning services, but I can honestly say that every time I leave his office I know my teeth are thoroughly cleaned with no pain involved. After 2 years I continue to come here because I admire the exceptional customer service provided to all patients.

This is the best practice I have been to in Houston. Dr. Tran is the man! He explains everything that he is going to do and why, their post-op care is clear to understand and follow.
What you are going to pay and why is so clear to understand. Their facilities are upgraded in every way that I can tell. My husband and I really enjoyed meeting the staff and will recommend this location to everyone we know.
As a plus, their playlist throughout the office is great and everyone knows the lyrics. It really helps take your mind off of people messing around in your mouth.

Forget your old dentist whose own hygiene and cavalier attitude might have called into question the integrity of his or her services Dr. Tony Tran is not only clean and professional, but his practice is too. I was very impressed by the interior layout and attention to detail, which gave me confidence I would be looked at the same way. Procedurally, with every decision was an explanation of why, and the possible alternatives. I felt in control the entire time. He was candid in his advice, and I felt comfortable with the forthcomingness of all the information. The website is a huge plus all too often, professional services (of all sorts) have unimpressive or downright concerning websites. I would recommend Discover Dental not only to potential patients, but also for those who are looking for what a business that focuses on client satisfaction looks like.

In short, I probably would have given this dental office 4 stars if I had just continued to get cleanings from them. But mischarges and a severe misdiagnosis the first time I was looking at additional dental work have led to me to switch dental offices. See below. My background: Late 20's male, engineer, standard large corporation that provides to me probably average dental PPO plan.
I started seeing Dr. Tran in 2017 and had been seeing him through 2019 for biannual routine cleanings and nothing else. The office is modern, friendly informative staff, and Dr. Tran is friendly, wants you to ask questions, and pushes for preventative maintenance practices. Yes they highlight additional work for fees, however I never felt pushed to pursue these routes like some reviewers have experienced. Everything was fine until these next two issues occurred.
First, the financial missteps. My last appointment, I had to get a filling redone and I also decided to get sealants done. At the time they showed me a bill of $169 for this and I paid it. It wasnt until later that I double checked my insurance coverage and EOB for the work and found out I was over charged for both items. My sealant work was 100% covered and instead they charged me $90 (this work was also not reported on EOB, so that was odd). My filling work did require some out of pocket expense but I was overcharged for it. Was my insurance coverage with Discover Dental out of date? Whatever it was, I reported the issues to the office and they refunded me with little issue. But if I hadn't decided to look into it later it would have gone overlooked.
The second issue is the misdiagnosis. So my original filling had a chip on it, so that is why they recommended to refill the tooth. They only identified the chipped filling because I mentioned gap between my teeth feeling slightly larger than the rest (I would expect the hygienist to catch a chipped on their own during routine inspection)
After the filling was done, my teeth felt normal until about day 4 when i started to experience sensitivity on the tooth and the teeth adjacent to it only when chewing harder foods. I came back to the office, Dr. Tran did an inspection, resurfaced the tooth and did a bite test on the teeth (there's an issue if it hurts). My refilled tooth and others had hurt during the test. This bite test led him to believe that a crack may have developed in the tooth and potentially the teeth around it. I asked how cracks could have developed all of a sudden and he suggested that I grind my teeth in my sleep and may have applied high pressure on my refilled tooth. I followed up a week later to confirm this was the issue and I was still experiencing the sensitivity. He continued to believe cracks had developed and that I needed a two crowns on my refilled tooth and one next to it. Because he believed that this was due to me grinding, he recommended that I get a custom guard to sleep with. The work for two crowns and getting a guard was estimated to cost $1800 out of pocket for me. From this point I needed second opinions.
From two different dentist and a google search, I received the same feedback: Dental work such as fillings (especially on candidates with little work done already) can cause the nerves on the worked tooth and surrounding teeth to be overly sensitive. This sensitivity can last up to 3 months before it goes away. When I asked about evidence of teeth grinding, both dentist saw no evidence. I never pursued the crown work. 2 months later, the sensitivity has drastically reduced to not being very noticeable.
And this is why I decided to stop seeing Dr. Tran. I really do believe he was trying to do what was best for me. But now this became a question of quality of service. Why didn't he share the same understanding of the nerve sensitivity like the rest? Why was he convinced that grinding was the issue but there was no visual evidence of that occurring to other dentists? He was about to shave down my natural enamel on two teeth for crowns and make me get a $500 dollar guard for no reason.
I visited Discover Dental after heavily researching dentist on my insurance plan. Visiting the dentist is not a pleasant experience in my books, but Marcy and Dr. Tran went above and beyond to make the experience personal and comfortable. I was greeted at the door with a smile and Marcy was with me every step of the way. She has a calm demeanor and made sure I was always comfortable. There was very little wait time during my entire visit. Doctor Tran was very thorough in his initial exam and took care to make sure I was not in pain. He kindly answered all my questions, gave suggestions, and did not try to up sell any services. The cleaning was top-notch quality and my teeth feel great!

The facilities and equipment were top notch really high tech. But they attempted to tack on multiple expensive procedures. I declined them and explained that I was not in the financial position to afford them and asked for a cleaning that my insurance would cover. I was told that a cleaning is just a polishing and it would be like "brushing my teeth" . Funny how they charge the insurance a premium for a brushing. I get why they pushed for all the procedures the place must have a huge overhead but a cleaning however limited would of been better than nothing. I am pretty sure my insurance was charged top dollar for the exam and I am still in need of a cleaning. It seems a really dishonest business model, if you are attempting to be a boutique dentist catering to people with unlimited funds don't accept public school districts insurance. Most people can not afford a months salary to get a cleaning. My teeth are not perfect but I have had regular dental care including biannual cleanings for 20 years so i don't disagree that in a perfect world the procedures recommended would of been done well and improved my smile, not performing a cleaning (covered by insurance) and dismissing me was deceitful.
Terrible dentist office. Used scare tactics to make me believe I needed more procedures than I did. I got multiple opinions from other dentists that said I did not need the "deep cleaning." So I left with a $400 bill for unnecessary work. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS OFFICE.
Dr. Tran is the best dentist in Houston. I live in 35 minutes from his office and I can tell you that it is worth it. First, the atmosphere is super clean, then the employees are very courteous, the customer service is fabulous . Everyone is kind. Dr. Tran is very patient, take the time to listen the patient and always does a great job. He has been my dentist since 2013 until today. I cannot find someone else like him, he always does a fantastic job. He always make sure that you are okay. He does care about his customers. Marcy who is the Practice Manager is awesome. They are professional, patient and super kind. I definitely recommend Dr Tran and his awesome staffs!!
Overall bad experience! Haven t heard back from the clinic specialist about Upcoming tooth extraction. They didn t do the free cleaning through our insurance since we turned down their $1000 tooth cleaning. There was no follow up and when I called the receptionist was not nice and helpful.
Update: Discover Dental is still a rip off. I went to an honest and reputable dentist a month after my horrible experience with Discover. The new dental office informed me that my teeth and gum health was great. They performed a cleaning and X-rays, and I was on my way. Shame on you Discover Dental for trying to rip people off with HMOs!!
I went in as a first time patient and was told I have moderate to severe gingivitis and needed a special type of cleaning. In addition to that I was told I need multiple sealants. ($1,200) I have always had great dental health and get my regular 6 month cleanings right on time (up to about a year and a half ago when I lost my dental coverage). I brush my teeth 2-3 times per day and floss regularly. When I asked if I could get a regular cleaning (that s covered with my insurance plan), I was told I had to have a special cleaning. When Dr. Tran came in he went over my X-rays with me and kept mentioning things that were wrong with my teeth (decay, grinding, etc). I was NEVER told this from my previous dentist over the years. Dr. Tran also seemed to be in a big rush the entire time he was with me. I will not be going back or recommending Discover Dental.
P.S. If you skipped a cleaning or two, do NOT mention it to them. They will take full advantage of that.

I had a truly bad experience at this dentistry. Do not go to this dental clinic!!!. The doctor is careless, rushed through the appointment and tried to sell more treatments than needed. They charge a lot more than required. During the appointment, they messed up my gums so badly that they were inflamed and infected for more than 3 weeks. My face got swollen and lymph nodes were huge. When I called to get a prescription for antibiotic, they could not send a prescription for 3 days, even after I called them 4 times a day for 3 days. Horrible experience truly...
The staff is genuinely nice and informative. I cannot say I had a bad experience rather an odd experience. I came here almost 3 years ago and was told the same thing as others about the gum disease, I declined the deep cleaning and they continued on with the regular cleaning. This time around I came for a cleaning, very late I admit, however I do brush at least twice a day and try to maintain okay dental hygiene. They said the same thing about the gum disease and honestly I considered it despite the $1000 price tag. They let me know my condition had gotten worse and at that point I was interested to see how much worse. Once we went over the chart we actually saw that my condition had remained the same in the nearly 3 years I hadn t been to see them. At that point I hardly saw it necessary to get the deep cleaning. Of course just as with some others they didn t want to do the regular cleaning either. In addition they let me know I needed some inlays- which on my insurance are quoted to cost about ~$500 for 3 and they quoted me ~$1500. Three times the price apparently because they didn t have the product required to do the $500 inlays. Overall I d say that if you don t care about overpaying to be in a pretty office with fancy equipment this is the office for you. After two visits and similar experiences I d prefer to go to an office where I m more than just a markup opportunity.
Nice place, real friendly staff, dentist is very nice but loud (i think the whole office overheard everything he was telling regarding my treatment). My only problem was when the treatment plan was worked out, Marcy the manager provided it to me, when i looked it over and compared it to my insurance fee schedule i noticed some discrepancies. I emailed her 3 times regarding this and she never replied. ***UPDATE*** Decided to give Discover another chance since Dr. Tran called me and seemed genuinely concerned with my dental health. Today I went back for a deep cleaning and while it was not a pleasurable experience (I mean who really enjoy going to dentist), it was probably my best experience with a dentist so far. Marcy is really helpful and willing to answer any questions you have, Karina is awesome, she was there through the deep cleaning and was really attentive, she seemed really concerned with me being comfortable (that was really nice). Dr Tran was great, he was really receptive to everything i had to say and willing to answer any questions. He was also very careful while doing the cleaning and was receptive to me feeling any pain. It seems like that above was just a slight oversight and I completely understand, Dr Tran managed to make it better and he completely handled everything professionally. Seems that after 20 years or so of not going to the dentist I have found one that i can trust.
Best Dental Office in town. The staff is really nice and knowledgeable as they walk you through the entire process and procedure. They answer just about anything you can think of. They're more than happy to help, Dr. Tran takes his time and makes sure you understand everything which for me is a big plus since I was always scared of dental work. Discover Dental has a modern feel to it so as I walked in my tension was released and once I got in the chair. The dental assistant made me feel super comfortable, I walked in and out in a matter of minutes. They did a great job and even went as far as to get me in earlier as soon as my crown came in, always keeping me updated with reminders and emails. That speaks very well of the Dr. and the staff, keep up the good work. I will definitely be coming back.

Scheduling an appointment took no time at all, and when I arrived they saw me immediately. No wait time. Discover dental has been my best experience with a Dentist office since I ve lived in Houston (about 5 years now). They are honest and great at explaining procedures. 1. I had a dental cleaning done this week and I only need to pay $15 copay, so yes, it's a star for the price. Though I heard other dental doesn't require payment, the quality work I received from Dr. Tran is absolutely worth the price.
2. The service of staff is beyond expectation and I can only use excellent for their service. They are kind and friendly. They are very understandable when I have a baby with me. They would take care of my baby while i'm in wisdom teeth extraction or getting my teeth cleaned. All the staff love kids and they are like a family to you and to your baby. Thanks to Stacy, Marci and Carina ( Hope i spell their names correctly. )
3. Waiting time: I didn't have to wait at all. Walk right in and get my service right away.
4. Skill of the doctor: it's probably one of the most important parts, since teeth is part of your body. Dr. Tran took time cleaning my teeth one after another. He even showed me the plague and tartar on the back of my rear teeth. I thought I had good teeth but after his cleaning, i realize that my teeth need more vigorous routine cleaning. Otherwise, I might develop periodontitis later in life. He explained to me what he'd be doing to my teeth prior to the cleaning- probing, cleaning the plagues, apply a protection wax-like and rinse with fluoride mouthwash. Was it painful? Yes, because certain part of my teeth really need to get the junk out. It was bleeding,too. I was kind of scared when I saw my bleeding gum but it's my first time and I don't usually floss my teeth. I don't blame the doctor but only thankful that I found out this earlier.
Was it cleaned afterward? Yes. He even smoothed out my remain part of braces ceramic. The braces ceramic stayed on my teeth for so long and i didn't even know about it. Thanks, Dr. Tran. He even showed me how to brush my teeth correctly and use the floss, but my advice for you would be - ask him how to floss and brush before the cleaning, because you might have a a mouthful of bleeding gum and it was unpleasant to look at and to learn at the same time.
5. Overall: Dr. Tran is very educational. He spent at least half an hour to explain how to avoid periodontitis and how it came about. He speaks in a fast paced tongue, so listen carefully and be sure to ask your questions right away. His philosophy is to prevent, so it's a big plus for us. Who would like to have a painful teeth when it can be prevented?
In conclusion, will I recommend Discover Dental to others? Yes, go for teeth cleaning. He did a thorough job and worth the price. As a matter of fact, I have already recommended him to another of my friend who's seeking for a good place for teeth cleaning.
My husband met in an accident and his tooth was damaged. We heard about Dr. Tran from a close friend and when we visited him my husband appreciated that he took the time to understand the problem. We received great service and the front office manager was great about dealing with our insurance. We have one more procedure left and my husband will be as good as new.
I ve been calling this office since last week because my tooth has been hurting but they never answer. And when they do answer they put me on hold for an hour. Their customer service is horrible. Went just for a cleaning and told me my dental hygiene was good, but then put me on a plan for over $600 worth of services (which I declined). The cleaning part was very half hearted. They were informative, but they ultimately try to take advantage of the clients.
