Have not been to the Dinghy Dock in a few years - but was pleasantly surprised with our visit today. Great atmosphere, clean, and appreciate all the Covid protocols (good spacing between diners). Had the shrimp Po boy, crispy Brussel sprouts and kids mac and cheese for the little one! Fun family experience and the view is unbeatable. Our friends came but had to sit at a separate table because of max numbers due to Covid- but again, it wasn t a problem for us because I appreciate that they are keeping safety in mind first (max 6ppl). Just something to be aware of if going with others. Totally recommend - such an iconic thing to do when in Nanaimo!!!!

Great spot, quick $9 ferry ride over to the pub which is right on the dock. Kid friendly zones (no minors in main restaurant and patio but they have outdoor seating for families). They also had a little fishing hole play spot for the kids. Food was a bit pricey but expected - check out the seafood poutine in our pictures, crab cakes were great. Good selection of beer which some great local options. Service was friendly and efficient. Great spot to bring visitors and would be a good day adventure! Check them out -> 5 stars!

It is a cozy and warm Bar in protection island. The food is good and taking the hourly ferry from the harbour (5$ for each way) will make it a unique and must have experience for the first timers in Nanaimo. The staff are friendly but the food has still room for improvement. Try to leave the table at least 40 minutes before the ferry departs and leave a little bit of time to walk around the protection Island.

It was my first time on Protection Island but it won t be my last, a Fat Tug Beer to start and fresh halibut and chips for diner and it was delicious, good and cheerful service from all the servers. The Floating Pub and outdoor dock rising and falling on small waves gives a real sense of being on and at the water. I went for walk along streets at the waters edge and visited the light house at the southern point it is so quiet and peaceful and the locals are very friendly.

What a fun experience to take a ferry to a pub. The server was so friendly and made our afternoon delightful. Best meals were cajun halibut and fish and chips. You can upgrade your fries to poutine... yum
