Dineen Coffee Co. Review

Good coffee and live music during some days of the week. The decor and location are also really nice - located in the renovated historic Dineen building.

Great place for a sit down for coffee and pastries, nice outside patio and great service. be warned due to it's popular location, they are Busy!! but it is worth the wait

A relatively hidden gem, it features a very nice and clean food court. There are several great options for food and the seating area is quiet stylish and light. Overall, a good place to go to lunch for those that work nearby - although be aware that it could get quite noisy during lunch hours.

The atmosphere and ambiance are great. Great service. Pretty much the same as French cafes which I loved.

Love this dinner. Small abut with great service. And the best is that it is 24/7

Beautiful decor, excellent lattes. Refreshing to see a lively coffee shop of patrons conversing. The tables are usually full of people talking rather than on their laptops!

Great atmosphere and interior decor. Great place to meet friends over a great cup of coffee. Their cappuccino is one of the best in the city. I wish they had more seating as it is usually busy and seating is scarce, especially on weekends.

These guys/gals know how to run a cafe - they are friendly and take the time to get to know you and your idosyncracies (especially as it relates to your coffee mix). It's a slice of caffeine infused heaven, accented by wonderfully crafted baked goods. If there's a line, it's worth it, especially since you're already there either with your own thoughts, or with good company. The patio is a splendid place to sit and sip.

It's a cute place and has a decent amount of seating, but it does get really busy. It's also very noisy, between ambient talking noises and music that's a bit too loud. The WiFi wouldn't work with my phone or laptop which was unfortunate. The prices are average, I got a mocha and it was good!

Truly beautiful location, love the design, look and layout of the place. Service is super friendly and the coffee is some of the best I've ever had!

Not as good as Dark Horse but still better then Starbucks

In a world of Starbucks homogeniety, this one is a true original.

I was recently downtown and stopped at Dineen for a flat white, absolutely perfect. It held up to my expectations.

Great cappuccino. Delicious pastry. Price is reasonable. More seating would be nice.

Coffee is of good quality. The variety if pastries was surprisingly limited and uninspiring.
The patio has direct sun in an area with many high-rise building blocking the view. The long bench/"sofa" on the patio is not convenient to sit on.
The washrooms are sparkling clean, large and with good quality soap.

My first time at Dineen was amazing. The staff was super friendly, the place looked great, and the coffee was out of this world. I didn't get the chance to try one of their salads as it was early and the morning and I had to leave town, but next time, I'll make sure to have one, as they looked delicious. Loved the fact that there were great choices for vegans or lactose-intolerant people. Great place to go to sip coffee while enjoying Toronto's uplifting vibe.

Coffee isn t my favourite in Toronto, but pretty good. Service is a bit of a disappointment, however.

Dineen Coffee is in a gorgeous restored building that shows a bit of the history in the little touches around each corner. Whether it be the Polson Iron Works sign or the framed old elevator cage just outside their cafe doors, it all adds to the charm of this place. There's a lot of wonderful details that are new but seemingly blend in with the old world charm, the gleaming Ferrari yellow Strada espresso machines and the gorgeous lighting fixture that just adds a bit of candlelight yellow to every picture.

There was a lot of staff here working behind the counter and with the 2 espresso machines, they were able to move the line quickly. I ordered a flat white with soy milk and a dirty chai latte with almond milk. The staff here is quick and friendly. No snobby nose turning like some other baristas may do.

With tax, this drink topped up higher than some of my other favourite places in the city. I will admit that the location is prime ... close to Eaton Centre, Finance Bay St, and Union Station. With such a gorgeous building AND prime location, I could see them charging a premium. Until recently (across the street @ Sud Forno who has excellent cappuccinos), there was very little else that could be as good.

Flat White (soy milk) - Well made ... instead of having large bubbles, there was actually small microfoam and minimal amount at the top! I will say that I think the barista skill here was good on getting the rid balance of espresso, milk, and microfoam. The only thing that holds me back on ordering this once again was that I found the espresso to have an interesting herbal note to it. I'm not sure I'm a fan of the actual espresso flavour ... it's not as smooth as my other places (Strange Love, Bar Buca, and Tempered Room). I'd rate the barista a strong 4 but the espresso flavour a 3 ... so 3.5/5

Dirty Chai Latte (almond milk) - This one was a bit unusual... seeing how they had their own coffee and tea blends for sale, I thought the chai latte here would have a lot of bold spices and stronger black tea flavour. When I tasted this, it was just sugary sweet with very minimal spice notes. Only after adding the cinnamon ourselves, did any spices appear. I unfortunately wouldnt order this again. 3/5

Overall, gorgeous spot to chill and talk with friends. I'd like to say the drinks are just as amazing as the atmosphere but it's not quite the same. Perhaps when I'm back in the area, I may try this once again.

A nice place, nice, clean and with cachet.
I went for breakfast, the black coffee was good! I really enjoyed the cinnamon pastry (photo), fresh with a good taste of butter. For the croissant (photo) I go, really very very average and without texture (probably the day before ..). Note that I do not know if the pastries in question are delivered or made on site.
The staff was professional in general, the waitress would have been nicer with a smile.
At the opening they were doing the dust and storage, I think it would have been better to open half an hour later to finish all this and ensure a better customer experience.
Another point, small plastic plates are really not necessary, for a place like that, ceramic plates are, I think, recommended.

I will try the dinner next time, it will allow me to have a final idea.

Beautiful atmosphere but very limited seating and always crowded. Their vanilla bean latte is delicious hot or cold.

Busy during the day but fairly good coffee and food. Seating is hard to come by however.

This place is always busy... That really says it all. It's a nice break from that Seattle chain once in a while.

Fantastic coffee and service but unfortunately always packed with no room to enjoy your brew.

This place has got great coffee. But the service is lacking. The Baristas and all the employees are busy with their own thing and not engaging with the customers as expected at a coffee place. Not to mention the wait times to get your coffee.

Slow service, overpriced coffee and food, but the Victorian era vibe to the place makes up for it. Also don t expect to have a place to sit always seems to be packed.

I love the staff at Dineen! Always great fast friendly service! You can taste the high quality of the beans used and my co workers love the food. Overall 10/10 ample seating in a beautiful setting w/ nice music.

I used to love going here but the staff are so rude and disorganized. I ordered a coffee sat down and was doing some work after exactly hour they said my time was up and I had to leave. The cafe was 100% empty i soap I understand the rule when its busy but of o buy something else can i get another hour i had to wait for the supervisor who said that was fine because it was so dead so I bought a 16 $ salad and sat down not even 5 minutes later another girl approached my table and said I had to leave i said I spoke to the supervisor and she said there is no supervisor and she doesn't think its fair that I get to sit there just because no one else was there. I wouldnt have bought a 16$ salad to carry home. And I definitely don't expect a batista to talk to customers so rudley. I can find somewhere else for my 7$ daily coffee thanks.

Great place for a professional catch up over coffee

It was real crowded, tables are way too close. Pretty much you know what other talking about.

I usually am disappointed with coffee shops in Ontario. The culture around coffee is just not the same as on the West Coast. However, I was pleasantly surprised with Dineen. The coffee was better than Starbucks and has a true coffee shop feel to it. I would go again if I was in the area.

Cool coffee shop. Relatively new (2012?). Awesome decor and interior. Not a whole lot of seating but still an awesome spot to go to for coffee or tea or whatever floats your boat in a cafe.

Amazing Espresso with hints of dark chocolate. Different to the more roasty, 'earthy' taste of other coffee. Great old school decoration and open concept coffee house with a large variety of espresso based, coffee and tea drinks done consistently. Great pastry as well. For me, the best coffee shop. Oh added bonus of live jazz music on friday afternoons :). Highly recommend it.

Excellent coffee and such a great atmosphere! Worth the 30 minute drive for me!

I love meeting friends here over lunch. Great location, design and environment is lovely, staff are always super friendly. Sure, it s busy and sometimes it s hard to get a seat, but that s because everyone knows how good it is here. They now are also servicing these mini sandwiches, which is nice when you just need a little something to hold you over.

Always love Dineen, but I find myself going there less now because, sometimes, it can be difficult to find a seat

Fantastic coffee but what is most noteworthy is the 'Kaffeehaus', European atmosphere and interior. Always crowded but that is just because it is a great place!

Love the coffee. Soy lattes are are my go to and Dineen never disappoints. Vegan treats would given them a 5 star.

In the winter the cold air does not let you enjoy a coffee, wind blows through the place. Coffee feels expensive when the staff is rude. This more take it and go place unless it's summer and you're on a patio.

Nice French style cafe with excellent pastries and strong coffee. Pretty patio and good WiFi, can get very noisy during weekday mornings.

This shop looked super cool and I was super excited to try a London Fog, but it had no substance... it's like someone just heated up skimmed milk and added in a tea bag and a few pumps of vanilla syrup. Maybe their more espresso/coffee-based drinks are more of their speciality, but I thought they'd have tea lattes down to an art, too. I might come back to try the other drinks people are raving about, but skip the teas.

Dineen Coffee was amazing. I loved everything about this place. The coffee was great and the service was friendly. I loved the interior and the vive, in the heart of the city, I didn t expect such a jewel. The pastries are good, different options. I recommend leaving with one of their coffee bags for home, the Nicaraguayen one was amazing.

However, it s a very crowded place, so I wouldn t go with a big group. Probably would keep it under 3 people .

I went to Dineen Coffee with my 2 kids at 4:30. it was very difficult to get a seat, but when we did the seats were so uncomfortable. They had a good coffee, but the kids said that the milkshakes were horrible, "They had too much milk and not enough shake" they said. We also got a vanilla slice, but it tasted like a rock.

Love love love this cafe! Ultra cute and very Parisian. If you re like me and longing for those days where you can be on those cute chairs outside to people watch - this is perfect for just that.

To give a bit of perspective of how often I come here, the barista knows my name because every weekend, I ll come here to either work on my french or do work. Sitting outside is wonderful, the terrace faces the quiet temperance street which gives a little bit of a private and quiet space, perfect for people watching or doing work.

Even inside, the space is very cute; cute floors, cute decor, marble top tables - perfect for y all instagram addicts.

Coffee wise - amazing! Great amount for the price you pay. Definitely worth every penny!

The only reason why I will not be coming here on days when I really need to get work done is due to the bad internet connection they have!

The hot chocolate was great! But it was kinda full to the cup which I didn't like as some spilled on the counter and it's just a waste of hot chocolate

Eh, the coffee isn t the best. I had a cappuccino. They did a good job on the latte art but the actual coffee just tasted a bit burnt and weak.
They do stock Mary s brigadeiros here tho which are worth a stop (but not worth it for the coffee!)

Top coffee place with very delicately tasty small bites. Try the apple walnut Brie sandwich. The place is mostly full of locals that pass by for a takeaway coffee dripped by the La Marzocco espresso machine. Cosy jazz music on the background

This place could be twice the size and it would still be packed. Does all the things you would want from a coffee shop extremely well.

$6 for an almond milk latte!!!!! Why are coffee shops still taxing non-dairy milk???

Place looks and smells wonderful! Very good coffee and the staff is amazing.

one of the best coffee places downtown, the staff are great, the coffee excellent, best mocha in the city, great snacks, the pistachio round is drool worthy, only problem is you're lucky to ever get a seat.

2020.09.25. The morning coffee walk was on Bay St and all the way to 140 Yonge St to "Dineen Coffee". The hot Americano is consistently great coffee. Bravo "Les Barrista des Dineen". It was a family walk so our order was 2 hot Americanos and two iced Americanos. Sitting outside on the patio was great and the weather nowadays is helping BIG time.

2020.08.28. Following my daughter's coffee recommendations, we did visit Dineen Coffee on Yonge Street. Not our first time maybe second or third. Sat outside and enjoyed coffee with some cookies (vegan). Coffee is good. They dont take cash. Pleasant service.
