My wife and I purchased a Destination Home that was constructed in 2011 and we purchased in 2017. We bought this home mainly for its plot and lot size. Although this particular home has been occupied by two previous owners, I have noticed a lot of shoddy work that is clearly from the original build and design. Below are a few bullet points to give you an idea. I will never buy a Destination Home again.
- Light fixtures not centered with doors or any logical point reference point
- Plumbing not well planned, one of our bathroom cabinets was cut to accommodate a pipe that should be in the wall
- Poor design of master bedroom to master bathroom - you run into the door, it s weird
- Loud awkward plumbing in the living room when using any water upstairs. Awkward when you hear the water from the toilet jet down the pipe
- Poor HVAC design - parts of the house will get close to zero air from the system
-The exterior Hardee board is not caulked and makes the whole house rattle on high wind
- Backdoor steps literally collapsed because they were built into the cosmetic trim instead of an independent support
-Paint over spray on almost every exterior window
Clearly there are good attributes otherwise we would not have purchased the home. But coming from a home that was built in the same year and much higher quality and attention to detail, it s difficult to overcome these flaws.
I CHALLENGE ANYONE DESTINATION HOMES TO CONTACT ME AND TAKE A LOOK AT ALL OF THESE THINGS. I have left two messages and have not received a call back.
