Very noisy rooms. There was a hockey tournament on the night we stayed, and all we could hear were kids running up and down the halls. The most disappointing thing was that despite telling the front desk and management the issue, there was no improvement and they didn't appear to acknowledge our concerns. We travel frequently to Gander, and will never stay here again, nor will we recommend.

Great spot to stay while in Gander. Friendly staff and manager Calvin is the absolute "best". He has been with the hotel over 40 yrs. He is down to earth and always looking to please his guests. Thanks Calvin for all you do.

Toilet seat had urine stains on it when I checked in to the room so it doesn't look like it was cleaned very well. The restaurant onsite took close to 70 mins to get me a simple tossed salad and it was drenched in dressing (even though I asked for dressing on the side). Room was clean and comfortable however on the smaller side and could use a but more light. Nice desk to get work at and get through some office work but it didn't have any lamps (hence the lack of lighting). Staff was overall very friendly.

The worst hotel experience ever. Would definitely not recommend staying there with a sports team. Stayed there for 3 nights this past week for a hockey tournament. The main reason why we booked this hotel was because they had a pool and the kids would have something to do. What did they do only close the pool since there were too many kids. I stayed there 2 years ago and it was by no means this bad. The same amount of kids as well and they used the pool without a hitch. Since it was the parents responsibility to look after their kids why not do the same this time around. They knew when we booked there were other teams staying there and I think we should've been told this upon making my reservation. The walls there are paper thin. We had a knock on our door at 11:30 at night to keep the noise down. We were sitting around the room talking with our door closed. I should've known what it was gonna be like when I walked up to the front desk and saw 2 disgruntled clerks sitting there. No smile whatsoever. The same were there upon check out the last morning. It was 7:30 am and all you could hear was one of them complaining to her co-worker how she got called in early and she wasn't supposed to be there til 9:00 and she was not happy about that. So needless to say it was my last time staying at Hotel Gander.

Recent change to a Choice Hotel but they haven't got the routine down yet. Renos were done but badly, the hotel reminds me of a bad dorm room set up and the staff from rest. to houskeeping and desk .... not very friendly at all.

The place was clean looking, the two rooms I was back and fourth too were a bit cramped. Small recreation space ect. The building is right on trans Canada and all the main food places are next door like A&W, Mary Browns. The interior is a bit dated but this is something of opinion. My biggest issue is design, the main floor mens bathroom stale for instance, you can barely fit into it.

Heat pump blowing air across the tiny room was annoying, all the new fixtures in the room could be moved by hand like they weren t attached to anything, some lights didn t work, just flickered. Paper thin walls, seems like the same hotel I stayed in 40 years ago with new paint and the same elevator and bar. The bar is just a VLT room. The people working there are very nice and helpful, they just don t have much to work with. There was a guy vacuuming the hallway outside my room at 830 in the evening, I asked him why they picked such an annoying time to vacume the hallway when people have small kids in some of these rooms. He didn t have an answer for that. I think you can find a nicer place in Gander for that price. The complimentary breakfast was okay

We arrived late in the day, enexpectedly, after air canada had lost our luggage. Originally we planned of waiting for 12 or so hours until the next olane arrived though did not. It was best for us to sleep through the night and get our luggage afterwards.

They cstered to us and our situation, gave us a king size room for EXTREMELLY cheap, and assured that everything and anything we needed would be handled. Absolutely wonderful :)

Best hotel in Newfoundland. Friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are very bright and clean. The beds are very comfortable. Each room has a mini fridge and an air conditioner. The hotel also has a pool on site. A buffet breakfast is included (which is delicious). The hotel is a several minute drive to the shopping area in Gander.

This hotel is easily located directly on the highway with side street access too, so you're not too far from Gander either. The staff are friendly and the rooms look very recently renovated. For the price you pay for the room, you really can't beat this deal

Seems to be a nice place. Few minor cosmetic issues inside the room, but nothing major. Bed was very comfortable. Room had heat, air conditioning, television with most stations. Vert standard hotel room. Where the hotel is directly on the TCH, there was a small amount of traffic noise in my room, which was facing the highway.

We found our stay to be close to perfect; clean, friendly, comfortable room with good features. Breakfast was deceiving, however, there is a picture on the wall of waffles, and even here on the website the first picture of the so called "full breakfast" shows waffles, which makes one assume there is a waffle maker at the breakfast but there is none and no pancake maker either. Also, the stairs in and out of the pool need replacing, very flimsy. Otherwise, the pool was great for early morning swim.

hello i was informed that the extra charges that were added to our visa was due to the fact that our room smelled of cigarette smoke, after i spoke with the management and explained that we were no smokers , and the suite that was beside ours were smoking all hrs of the day and late at night while our dogs in the room we wanted to keep the window open for fresh cool air, the stench of ashtray was noticeable due to the neighbours ashtray sitting beside his door with butts overflowing and a mix of rainwater ewwwww , anyhow we had a great stay and will return to enjoy another few nights , our visa card was NOT REINSTATED THE EXTRA CHARGES AS I WAS FOOLED INTO THINKING THAT TANYA WAS GOING TO CORRECT THE ERROR :((( WE ARE NOW WAITING FOR THE CHANCE TO SPEAK WITH THE HEAD OFFICE REGARDING THIS ISSUE , IT WRONG TO CONTACT US MONTH AFTER VISIT REGARDING THE ABSOLUTE INCORRECT ASSUMPTION THAT WE HAD SMOKED IN A ROOM AND CAUSED THE ROOM TO BE SHUT DOWN FOR CLEANING BECAUSE OF CIGGARETE SMOKE ODOR ? THE HOTEL HAS BEEN RENOVATING FOR MONTHS AND ANY EXTRA CASH MAY HELP WITH THEIR BUDGET WE ARE VERY DISSAPOINTED THAT THE STAFF HADNT REMOVED THE EXTRA 200.00 CHARGE AFTER THEY SAID THAT THEY WOULD MONTHS AGO . DID ANY ONE ELSE GET EXTRA CHARGES REGARDING FALSE SMOKE ODOR IN ROOM , WE WILL BE CONTACTING THE COMFORT INN MAIN HEADQUATERS IF THIS ISNT DEALT WITH IN A PROPER MANNER AS WE WERE TOLD IT WOULD BE , BEWARE WATCH UR CREDIT CARD BILLS AFTER STAYING HERE

I was pleased with the room. The staff were polite and courteous. After a couple days of being checked out of the hotel I noticed an additional $115 was charged to my card so I called to inquire the reason, thinking it was a mistake. The staff member looked up the charge and said it was for excessive pet hair! I was immediately upset due to the fact I was charged extra for my room as a pet fee which should cover the cost of cleaning the room (I believe it is $15/night) and I was not told about the extra charge to my card. It baffled me as my dog does not excessively shed, and 2 out of 3 days in the room I had her at the dog Day Care for the entirety of the day. I now have to wait until Monday to speak with the General Manager regarding this ridiculous charge on my card to basically vacuum a room. I would certainly have given a better review had it not been for this incident.

Easy to find - right on the highway. Clean rooms at reasonable prices. Included breakfast with hot options (poached eggs, hashbrowns, ham and sausage the morning I was there). Restaurant open for lunch and supper. Placed supper order and they delivered right to our room. Excellent food and service.

Check in experience was the worst I ever had. The room is very dirty. There is a pill bottle lid by side of the bed. The floor has not been vacuumed in days, maybe even weeks.
Not very welcoming. Rude staff.

I've stayed many places in Gander and I prefer this place!
Despite the aging facade the place is very clean, well kept and staffed by the most courteous employees.
*Preferred stop in Gander.
*Walking distance to many amenities.
*Beautiful and scenic view of the Lake.

The best hotel in the area. The hotel is older but the rooms are updated and the beds are quite comfortable. Hotel has lots of amenities, and a hot buffet breakfast is included. Shower is enjoyable work lots of pressure.

Netflix if not available in room with your personal account and only local TV is provided.
