DO NOT BUY A HOUSE FROM DESERT VIEW!! 4 years ago we purchased our very first home and we got lured into Desert View by the affordable cost of a brand new home, but if I knew then that would be compromising the quality of my home I wouldn't have done it.

Never mind that we pointed out things in our walk thru that were just chalked up to "workmanship" but here I am 4 years later dealing with a roof that was LEAKING TAR!!!

I contacted desert view about the issue and they said to call the contractor they used because my house was no longer under warranty. When the contractor FINALLY came after numerous calls and no show appointments, they said it was a material defect. I had called another roofing company who actually kept their appointments and they explained that the roof job was done very sloppy and shouldn't have used tar in the valleys which is why it was now leaking down from the heat.

Now more recently, we've discovered an area in our master bedroom next to the bathroom where the carpet is ALL WET. I don't have confirmation yet, but obviously there's a leaking pipe in the wall or under the house. Called Desert View t hey hid behind the ol' "your house is no longer under warranty" routine.

I get it, they can't warranty forever.....but I should not have to be dealing with these issues in a 4 YEAR OLD HOUSE.

Don't waste your time or money on this builder.

This builder should be inspecting the work that their workers are doing. I purchased my home back in 2005 we had to contact the realtor or whomever they were at the model homes on several occasions 1. The kitchen window was in my dinning area 2. My garage door has water leaking inside garage when it rains 3. The fuse box does not have individual fuses for porch it shares with the den and to top it off if using electrical outlet outside it will pop off fuse from garage not enough amps for the SQ ft of the home. 4. the carpet was tearing on different sections which they had someone from desert view come and inspect the carpet and they even noticed that the back door is not flushed with the walk path to the garage door its more in towards the kitchen where they stopped the carpet but nothing was done on that they just fixed the piece of the carpet. Throughout the years a lot of mistakes by their workers have been found. The kitchen cabinets have a lot of gaps covered with a long pieces of wood the master bathroom has leaks because no cement boards were used. Very sloppy way of making these homes and selling them very expensive. I will be reporting them to the BBB this is uncalled for they should inspect everything their workers do. I have spent alot of money fixing things that were done wrong in this home that i shouldn't have to have spent. People go with a custom builder it's pricier but they will do the home to your standards, and their workers aren't drinking on the job because we always found beer cans in our property while house was being done. I still do not understand how this builder is still in business let alone are able to obtain permits for jobs done incorrectly This builder deserves no STARS!!!!

Will be updated until my construction is done!

I signed my first contract with this company in November 2019. Before the contract, the salesman Mr Joe insistently told me that the design center was flexible with some changes. After 3 months the design center Told us "NO" to any changes. Then I transferred my house to next Dr. and was told the construction date would be April 2020. Now it is June 2020 and still the construction date is unknown. Definitely this is not a professional company and not recommending them to anyone.

Updates will be written below:

Today is July 20 and still the construction hasn't started yet.

I had a phone call with sales manager last week and he officially promised me that the construction would start on July 27,however, today is July 30 and nothing has been done so far.

Now it is August 25, they started the construction on August 10,2020. Will be updating the finishing time.

Today is Sept 17:
It has been more than 3 weeks that nothing has been added to the concrete basement. The other construction companies in the neighborhood do their construction but desert view homes keep waiting, but don't know what they are waiting for.

Today is Sept 25:
Still nothing has been done to the house. Not only mine, but also 4 other houses are just waiting for nothing. A whole community has been constructed a mile beside my house during the pandemic, but those desert view houses are not being constructed.

Very bad quality house. I just moved in my newly built house more than a year ago. The pipes already started leaking. We called, no one showed up. The sink also starting to leak. Called and no one picked up the phone. The water heater broke, no warranty, had to pay $800 for a plumber company to fix. There's also a big hole on the side of the house near the foundation. Called since November 2020. No one has shown up.since. Never buy another house from Desert View.

As I read these reviews I sympathize with most of the complaints. Overall I don't believe that the quality of houses built in El Paso can compare with most other areas of the country.
We purchased our house 4 1/2 years ago and we had issues from the beginning but the company had excuses for not fixing most of them. One of our problems was the rock wall on three sides of the house. Every rain fall washed off more and more of the poorly mixed cement from the wall. We ended up paying to have it fixed but the ppl who came didn't do any better than Desert View.
Just recently I noticed rotted boards on the roof of the back porch. It turns out that the cheaply constructed roof had nail holes on top and the water was seeping through. To make matters worse the roof was constructed in a manner that it slopes down until the last 6 to 12 inches where it slopes back up again, creating an area for standing water. Not only that but our neighbor's back deck roof was built exactly the same way and she, too, will have to pay to get it fixed. We paid a lot of money to have the rotted boards replaced and have the roof covered with a sealant to keep the water out. This is definitely poor construction.
These are things that are hidden from the buyer until time goes by.
So be very careful and don't be fooled by the smile of the salesperson. Ask questions and check everything very, very carefully.
