I have read the reviews on how bad Alexandria is with assisting residents in need. I just do no understand. I have a friend who applied for Rental Assistance a month ago. She submitted all documentation required to recieve help. It's been a month and she can't get a answer from anyone at the office. The funds are available to help the taxpayers. Someone needs to monitor and audit these people. Write the Governor. What's the issue?
Poor customer service. Come early in the morning and you will be done by closing of business. Don t forget to bring your two times food, enough water and a mattress including a pillow if you wan you visit this department
My stuff been not rite for a whole six months...lol they crazy and I don't even really get not much.. I just needed a little help smh
Very irresponsible people, it makes you wait for 4-5 hours for nothing.
There is very unprofessional works working and they have zero customer service, they are not for help they are only for problems
THESE PEOPLE ARE THE WORSE!! THEY NEVER ANSWER THE PHONE AND HAVE A BAD ATTITUDE WHEN THEY DO.ONLY TWO OF THE SPANISH LADIES THAT WORK THERE HAVE A GOOD GUEST SERVICES. FAIRFAX COUNTY DEPARTMENT HAS BETTER SERVICES THAN THIS PLACE.
I just got in this office this morning and had a very pleasant accomodation and assistance from this lady who was more than willing to help me. Too bad , i failed to get her name. Although the transaction was not consumated, she really did her best to help me. Hats off and big salute to you. Much appreciated !
This office is the worst!!! Every time I have to send in my documents for some reason they never get them. I personally dropped them off in the office the last time and guess what??? They somehow still did not receive them. This time I made sure to mail in my paystub along with the documents and now guess what they didn t get it so how did they get the documents they sent me back but not my supporting documents if they were in the same darn envelope!!! They don t ever answer the phone if I could I would rate this zero stars
I applied for SNAP, and I received a call from this office, the lady on the phone told me that she needs the required supporting documents to process my application, I sent my pay stubs the following day, but after some day I figured out that she didn t wait to receive the document and denied my case base of old documents they had in file.
Their main problem is that they don t answer your call or email and you have to walk in and wait for a long time to see someone.
The worst department on the earth , and rude workers. I have been trying to contact them for almost a month .first they wont answer ,if they attend the call and asked for the case worker and *hang up*. I dont know who is gonna take care of this . My mom is a old women , and she cant work. How in the wotld these people are doing what they want .
It s very rare to find a professional employee within this department. Most of them are not helpful and they have bad attitude. They aren t responsive at all, you could send them bunch of emails or leave them voicemails but none would be returned back. Their case workers are useless and don t even provide you the information that you are looking for or they will give you false information. Fairfax county and Loudoun county has much better service than here. Don t waste your time and energy with these people. Relocate in another county where they actually care for their citizens if you could.

I worked for the US government as an AmeriCorps member and was encouraged to apply for food assistance because our income doesn't count as income for the purposes of government assistance programs. I was given Leslie Cummings as a caseworker in July 2015 and did not receive benefits until March 2016. First she went on vacation and didn't return calls after her return. Then she refused to interview me over the phone for around 4 months. Then after a literally 3 minute phone interview, I was denied. I had to re-apply online over 4 times. I was denied regularly, calls to her and to both of her supervisors were not returned. I contaced legal aid for over 1 month before I finally got a call back from a lawyer who told me to give up because I had no case. I filed for an appeal, finally had a hearing and won. It took 8 months of fighting caseworker Cummings and her 2 supervisors before I got benefits. As an AmeriCorps member, I am considered as having $0 as income. My caseworker and her manager performed no effective research and are incompetent as they do not understand the required policies necessary to perform their jobs. In the meantime, I experienced food insecurity, regularly missed meals and missed work due to sickness. A cold can turn far worse when your body is nutrient depleted; as was my case.
It's good they serve it well and now there's more order in everything I love
There are some nice people that work for this agency, Ms. Graham, in particular. She helped my family with our housing needs. She is a god-send! Thank you :)
Worst customer service, worst case workers and worst supervisors, they dont have a responsibility to customers, never pick up phones
Worst place ever! please, if you want social help, DO NOT, again DO NOT come here. The social workers are just RUDE. As if the help is coming out of their pocket. They won't just receive your calls, nor even explain you the why of things. Also, they won't give you help even if you're dying. I used to live in Fairfax County and the help they provided was amazingly good. I regret I moved to Alexandria, specially now that I needed help.
