Child Protective Services
One of our primary responsibilities at DCFS is investigating reports of suspected child abuse or neglect. Our goal is always to keep families together whenever possible while ensuring the safety of all involved parties. When we receive a report about possible abuse or neglect involving a child under 18 years old living within our jurisdictional boundaries we will investigate it thoroughly.
If we determine that there are safety concerns for the child(ren), we may remove them from their home temporarily until it's safe for them return back with their parents/guardians or placed with relatives/foster care if necessary.
Foster Care
When children cannot remain safely at home due to abuse or neglect issues they may be placed into foster care until they can be reunited with their parents/guardians or adopted by another family member/adoptive parent(s). Foster care provides temporary homes where these vulnerable youth can receive love & support while waiting for permanent placement options become available.
Adoption
Adoption offers an opportunity for individuals/couples who want to expand their family through legal means by adopting one/more kids who are legally free from parental custody rights due various reasons such as termination/relinquishment etc., Adoption process involves several steps including background checks on prospective adoptive parents/guardians before finalizing any placements which ensures safety & well-being all involved parties especially adopted kids.
