As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, the Children's Science Center is dedicated to providing children, families, and school groups with hands-on exhibits, activities, and programs that make learning about STEM concepts engaging and exciting. With over 70,000 visitors each year at our Fair Oaks Mall location in Northern Virginia as well as through our community programs delivered to schools, libraries and STEM festivals across Northern Virginia.
At the Children's Science Center Lab at Fair Oaks Mall location in Fairfax County Virginia we offer an interactive museum experience where visitors can explore various scientific concepts through hands-on exhibits. Our exhibits are designed for children of all ages from toddlers up through middle schoolers. We have everything from simple machines like pulleys or levers that demonstrate how force can be used to move objects; electricity displays that show how circuits work; robotics demonstrations where kids can program robots using code blocks on tablets or computers; chemistry experiments such as making slime or exploring chemical reactions.
Our exhibits are designed with both education and entertainment in mind. We want kids to have fun while they learn about science! Our staff is made up of experienced educators who are passionate about teaching kids about STEM concepts. They're always available to answer questions or provide guidance on how best to interact with our exhibits.
In addition to our museum experience at Fair Oaks Mall we also offer community programs delivered directly into schools throughout Northern Virginia. These programs include classroom visits by our educators who bring hands-on activities related directly related curriculum standards for each grade level.
We also participate in local STEM festivals throughout Northern Virginia where we bring some of our most popular exhibit experiences out into the community so everyone has a chance learn more about science!
The Children's Science Center is committed not only providing engaging educational experiences but also making them accessible for all families regardless of their financial situation. We offer scholarships for field trips so that every child has an opportunity visit us regardless of their family’s ability pay admission fees.
