This place is really a great place to visit. It is not only a nature center but a raptor rescue center. The birds are on display in large outdoor enclosures. It also has a fairly large system of "walking" trails. I would not necessarily call them hiking trails but they are beautiful none the less.

Hiking, educational classes, rehabilitation for animals and a pre school, farmers market, and museum, what's not to love. Seasonal events like the haunted trail are also amazing and fun for the kids. A yearly membership is inexpensive and offers so much plus it's in Mystic which is about the only place left in southeastern Connecticut worth visiting anymore outside of the casinos of course.

Dpnc is a wonderful part of our community. My children both have gone to the preschool and summer camps there. There's very accessible trails for hiking near the center, then some longer, more challenging trails.

Museum, hiking nature trails, wildlife sanctuary and rehab for birds which you can interact with as well as after-school programs along with countless other fun family activities, what's not to love? It's right in the heart of Mystic as well so there's plenty of things to do when you are done.

We love visiting here! Many interactive exhibits which educate visitors about wildlife and habitats in Connecticut. They've added an Early Childhood learning room, perfect for littles! We saw lots of frogs, fish and turtles in the pond outside. Hiking trails are easy, especially the ones around the pond. The trails connect with the trails at Coogan Farm. The Farm Trail was quite overgrown. Be mindful of poison ivy as well as ticks.

Wondeful nature center! There's a small fee to browse the exhibits inside the building, but the hiking trails (that are very well maintained) and outdoor venues are free to use. Well worth the visit.

Really nice building, beautiful raptors.

Great walking trails, but they're not particularly clearly marked and were confusing even with the map.

Staff was very friendly and personable. Well educated and had a terrific sense of humor. Loved every part of the Center and thought everything was presented well! Check out their nature theater (seating for 5). You wont be sorry! Tons of fun all around!

This is a nice community wildlife rescue group - and they have wonderful trails. They have a number of owls and other birds that cannot be released - and they work with wild birds to rehab them - The trails are great for hiking with all ages - not to hard! - the children and you will enjoy the outdoor bird flights when you go in warmer weather. For the community they provide great educational programs for children - -

My child attended the Nature Camp this week and had a great time! It was both enriching (learning about snakes, turtles, owls and more...she brought home stories of what she learned each day) and provided the opportunity to have safe interactions with other kids. We're very grateful that DPNC took needed steps to do the camp this summer and manage the additional burdens due to the pandemic. We very much appreciate the extra effort this took on behalf of the counselors and staff. Thank you!

Wow! We saw no other guests and wandered all over. Lovely animals and interactive displays inside, a few raptors outside. The 4 yr old loved the bunny hopping freely inside. They honor blue star families, but regular admission is $8 for adults, less for kids.
Picnic area at entry, inside, and benches scattered along paths. You could managed a wheeled chair, but some paths are heavily root-filled.
Board walks, swamps, ponds, forest...we have to go back when the kids can walk longer on a hot hot day.
Mosquitoes can be pesky. Loved it!

The best place for kids. Great knowledgeable staff. Wonderful services for the community. Whether searching for mushrooms, day camps, birdwatching, plant identification, or just general hiking or nature waking, the nature center is a great place. No mater if your a Citi person who has never been outside, or a game warden for yellow Stone park, the nature center has something for every level of natural knowledge.

Very interesting nature area with great volunteers helping out. Mushroom festival was very busy, but it was a fun enjoyable and learning day. Food options were interesting and dealt with the crowd admirably.

This place is amazing! We started at Coogan farm and hiked 1.5 miles to the nature center. The nature center is very informative and they do wonders rehabbing animals. On the hike back we stopped at the Stillman mansion, the Vista is gorgeous! I've lived is s.e. ct my whole life and never knew about this gem. Highly recommend.

Super friendly staff and interesting exhibits. I didn't expect the variety of live birds here. They had several owls, falcons, and other birds of prey. All the animals seem well kept and happy. There is an 8 dollar fee for adults, but free walking paths too.
