Hi my name is Tress Wright, obviously I do not have any experience here, but I would love to expose myself more to dance to improve my dancing here and I feel that I will succeed if working with you. I am 15, I attend Lincoln High School Dallas, Tx. Hopefully I could join soon and enjoy the classes.

About Dallas Black Dance Theatre

Dallas Black Dance Theatre: Bridging Cultures Through Contemporary Modern Dance

Dallas Black Dance Theatre (DBDT) is a premier contemporary modern dance company that has been captivating audiences for over four decades. Founded in 1976 by Ann Williams, DBDT has become a cultural icon in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and beyond. The mission of DBDT is to create and produce contemporary modern dance at its highest level of artistic excellence through performances and educational programs that bridge cultures and reach diverse communities.

DBDT's repertoire includes works by renowned choreographers such as Alvin Ailey, Donald Byrd, Ulysses Dove, Christopher Huggins, and many others. The company's dancers are known for their technical prowess, emotional depth, and dynamic stage presence. They bring to life the choreographers' visions with precision and passion.

In addition to its mainstage performances, DBDT also offers educational programs that serve thousands of students each year. These programs include master classes, workshops, lecture-demonstrations, residencies, and more. Through these programs, DBDT aims to inspire the next generation of dancers and arts enthusiasts.

One of the unique aspects of DBDT is its commitment to diversity and inclusion. The company's dancers come from all over the world and represent a wide range of ethnicities and backgrounds. This diversity is reflected in the works they perform on stage as well as in their outreach efforts offstage.

DBDT has received numerous accolades throughout its history. In 2018 alone, it was named "Best Dance Company" by D Magazine for the fifth time in six years; received an NEA Art Works grant; was featured on PBS NewsHour; performed at Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival; among other achievements.

If you're looking for an unforgettable dance experience that celebrates diversity while pushing boundaries artistically - look no further than Dallas Black Dance Theatre!
