They weren't very helpful. I never received follow up calls and whenever I called them I couldn't get in contact with anyone. waste of my time honestly.

I had a interview with the Executive Recruiter Yvonne Very pleasant lady. However in reviewing her Bio I was not impressed. In the interview she walks in with no papers just a pen. I provided her with my Resume as professional etiquette. As she interviewed me she proceed to use my resume as a scratch piece of paper. Basically proceeded to tell me in laments terms that since I'm going for a Masters the company she was hiring for was not a great fit because she states I was looking for more. Then continues on regarding my education. As professional she did not have the credentials to interview me from the way she talked and we could have completed the prescreening over the phone. I believe many companies who hire recruiters should screen better just because they have experience some need to know how to handle professionals when speaking with them especially if you are an executive recruiter.
I "interviewed" there a little over a month ago. The recruiter seemed impressed with my resume and work history. And then I never heard from her again. She stated she would be in contact with me, and *poof* ..she never so much as emailed, nor returned my call. I am extremely disappointed in this company. I am not originally from San Antonio, and my hometown is much smaller than SA and we have extraordinary recruiting firms. If this is the "Best" San Antonio has to offer, the city should be very embarrassed.
Loosing my job during the pandemic was difficult for me but Lauren at Deacon make it easy to get through the whole interview process from start to finish. She was quick to respond to questions, gave me regular updates on where I stood, and offered frequent encouragement when the company was taking a while to make decisions. I highly recommend them!
I had the pleasure of meeting with Samantha Mckelligan last week. I have used several professional recruiting services as both an employer and a potential employee and I have to say that both Deacon and Samantha stand head and shoulders above the rest. Samantha has been very responsive to all my questions and patiently help me through this process. I would recommend Deacon's services to anyone.
Sincerely,
Matt Holmes
I would like to recognize Randi Jinkins and Amber Dalton for being very professional and pleasant to meet. I am new to San Antonio and the stress of start new is exciting yet unsettling when looking for a new career path in a new city. Randi and Amber were so accommodating and responsive to my needs and calls. They helped ease the anxiety of start new. Because of these two ladies, I look forward to new possibilities and I look forward to working for Deacon Recruiting. Good Job!!!
I met with Sanjay Suckoo in late October and by the first week of December I was scheduled for an interview for my dream job. Sanjay paid close attention to the details and found the job of my dreams. Because of him and Lauren Costly I will begin my job as an Executive Assistant. Thank you Deacon Recruiting for everything and I definitely will be referring colleagues your way.
Deacon Recruiting and Deacon Professional Services provide a recruiting experience that meets the highest standards in quality and excellence. Felicia Avalos pleasantly cooperated to help me meet my own personal, professional goals, as well as continue to pursue the ultimate goal of finding my next exciting opportunity.
Do not deal with these people. They try to sell you on how they are biggest and best (both of which they are not) recruiting firm in San Antonio. Handful of times in the past, I've been contacted for positions I thought were interesting, and was never contacted back when I responded. When we finally got into "the process" with someone (my very last experience I've had with them), not only did they not answer questions I've had, which would have helped them be more informed about me, but they would never directly answer any of the questions that I've had. The attitude during the conversation was "You should be lucky we are even contacting you". I felt more like a product to be used at their discretion, rather than a person. STAY AWAY!
I'm revising my review after meeting with Leslie K. She was extremely helpful and attentive to what I am looking for. To other applicants, please be aware that getting an actual face to face interview is a long process. Crossing my fingers Leslie will be able to find me my next career experience.
During the interview with Mayra Calderon we went through my background, strengths and weakness, and the features of the potential position that I was considered for. Mayra was professional and warm at the same time.
Anne Deacon is a real class act an probably the most beautiful woman ever.
Randi and everyone there has always been most helpful. I recommend often.
Leslie is polite and provided me valuable feedback to help me look more presentable! Looking forward to a continued relationship
TRAVIS MANGUM IS THE BEST EVER!!!! I have been working with Travis for a couple months and the guy is great at what he does. He s consistent, his placement is impeccable, he s literally the deacon mission statement in full effect. Travis has gotten me into interviews I would ve never gotten in on my own (and I have a strong resume). THANK YOU TRAVIS. SUPER EXCITED ABOUT MY NEW OPPORTUNITY!!!
I would not recommend this company. I went several times and called many times, very unprofessional. They have the worst service.
Note to others: Please please do not waste any second of your time or hope with this company. Job searching is soo soo stressful already so please please learn from my lesson and invest your time and energy job searching somewhere else... may you have way better luck in the job search process then I have!
After this company forgot about me a month later they decided to finally touch base with me, I had reached out to them before and applied to every job but heard nothing back- this is my letter to them back just hoping that no one else has as much difficulty as I did. After all its a recruiting service so they should take some time to follow up with those who are really looking for a job.. I could do a better job following with people, I know how hard it is to find a job and wouldnt leave people hanging on hope for nothing.
Kaela,
Thank you for taking some time to touch base with me.
I really was so hopeful to be able to work with you and your local recruiting service to receive some advice and help for San Antonio job searching. As I mentioned I am new to the area from VA. I was really hoping to seek some assistance in an already overwhelming process of moving to a completely new state and trying to find a job and was disappointed not to receive any feedback at all. I applied to every single job you had posted on your site that I was more then qualified for and asked if you had any suggestions for my resume- anything I can do and nothing.
I worked as a professional for over 15 years and would never have been able to dismay clients, customer, guest, even fellow employees or anyone by not following up but especially when people are in such a vulnerable position as searching for a job.. After all this is a recruiting service so I was just seeking some sort of advise for local job searching.
I appreciate you finally following up but I am highly disappointed that there wouldn't be a better checks and balance for your business so that people who are desperately and so hopeful looking for a job fall thru the cracks of your system.
I can only hope you or someone else never has to deal with the stress of moving to a completely new area and the difficulty process of not being able to find adequate employment and then getting your hopes up by working with a recruiting service who doesn't take the time to follow up ever.
I am in the process of relocating to San Antonio, and Deacon has been posting the most interesting executive assistant jobs that I have seen. I contacted them, and initially spoke with Meagan. She was quite accommodating and connected me with Yvonne. I met with Yvonne and was impressed with her thoughtful and thorough interview style. She was interested in me and what I am looking for. I am encouraged that I will have positive results in my job search due to my affiliation with Deacon.
I had the great pleasure to work with Melanie Shepherd Sr. Executive Recruiter for an Inventory Manager Position. We thoroughly went over my creditials and prepared me mentally to sit down with the hiring leaders. She was extremely professional and made our time together very comfortable. I feel very secure with my future career being in her hands.
This firm is absolutely the most UNPROFESSIONAL organization I have ever dealt with in San Antonio!!!! I have responded to job opportunities on their website and have NEVER been called, contacted, e-mailed........Not even a response to say the job is already filled or I don't have the skills they are looking for......NOTHING!!!! I have sent e-mails to Emily, Holly, Diana and Lauren.....I have been told my other employment agencies that this company is merely a tax write off for the owner and they have never filled any positions. DO NOT USE THEM!!!!!
It was a pleasure talking with Alfred Perez. Even though it has been years since I have interviewed, he made me feel at ease and more confident than I expected I would. He is a very personable young man. I'm sure that Deacon will be my "go to" when it's time for me to make that move!
Is Deacon a white dominated firm? Do you hire Hispanics?
I was placed back in 2017 by Deacon to what would have been my forever dream job, but due to the passing of the owner at that position, my role came to an end. I was contacted by Deacon for another dream role, and was fortunate to get the position and start soon. This group knows it s clients, but also has a passion for its candidates and making sure the placement is just as much a fit for you as it is for their client. I had the pleasure of working with Tiffany, and she was so understanding of my needs, prompt on all communication and went the extra mile for me. You will not be disappointed or feel like you are jumping through hoops multiple times without a positive outcome, like other recruiting groups. They are out to find you what you need in your career, and will make sure you are taken care of.
Ashley Morrow is the epitome of professionalism! She asks the necessary questions, and also lets you know that your needs and concerns are important.
Worked with (and I use that term losely) Ashley Morrow. I have heard from her a couple times in the last year, had one actual decent job lead that went to nowhere, and I had to reach out to her recently to see if she still knew I existed. She proceeds to tell me things are very slow and there isn t much in regards to available jobs, yet their website shows differently.
I feel that I am not a priority or even an afterthought. They were highly recommend. Very disappointing.
The office and Staff are inviting. Ashley was great to talk to and had warm feedback on myself. Amazing place to work with.
I worked with Dana Laramore and Ashley Morrow. They were both very professional and responsive. They presented three candidates very quickly and I really liked the format that they used to present information on each person. We were able to hire someone within a few short weeks who has been an excellent fit for our office.
I had the pleasure of working with Linda Marcus at Deacon. Linda was professional, kind, and responded quickly to all my needs, even after regular business hours. She truly cared about finding the best position for me, even taking the time to compare the offer she was able to get me to an offer from a different recruiter. I never felt pressured to pick one offer over the other. After I accepted the offer, she kept checking in to make sure I was happy. I would highly recommend Deacon and Linda to any one looking for a job.
The staff at Deacon are not your typical temporary agency staff, and that is a great compliment to their philosophy, core objectives, and approach.
Whereas other temp agencies really engage in the practice of "filling" positions, making their quota, and making hopeful employees jump through endless hoops in order to earn a chance at their ideal position (you know who you are), recruiters like Austin Ackerman take the time to understand one's aspirations, goals, and real world aptitude, in order to work to find him or her a position with the potential to forge a career.
That being said, keep in mind that the interviewing/registration process is a lot more involved with them, but it's worth the extra time and effort.
Finding an entry-level position in a new or transitional field is hard enough, but finally, I am being offered positions with real compensation and growth potential.
I cannot recommend them more.
I have had an experience of speaking with Samantha and she has been amazing. We have been in contact every day since I gave her my resume, I feel very comfortable and confident working with her and I know she will help me find the right place.
I met with Lauren Costley recently and she was very professional and helpful. I've been in the military for 20 years and am transitioning out- I relayed to Lauren that I am nervous about my resume writing skills, getting interviews and hopefully being offered a job. She put my nerves at ease and provided me with positive feedback in order to become a better candidate for the job I'm looking for. Thank you so much for your continued support! Wish me luck!
We went to Deacon with what, to us, was a really tough assignment: find the right person for an IT position requiring multiple skill sets, and also find the right cultural fit for our unique company.
Not only did they deliver, but Deacon s process was absolutely superb
and hands down, they saved us countless hours of labor-intensive work.
We honestly feel that Deacon took the guesswork out of the process
and there s just no way we could have found that perfect fit without Deacon s help. Thank you Deacon!
I realize some of the other reviews have been negative. My experience, however has been much more positive. A recruiter from Deacon approached me several moths ago after meeting me at an event. Every question I asked was answered in a reasonable time frame. The recruiter with whom I worked made sure she understood what I wanted in a job. She made sure potential employment opportunities fit with my wants/desires in an employer. She also understood the tech world in which I worked, which was a huge plus!
I don t know how many times I have filled out a application and no one gets back to me. Then I call multiple times to speak to the person that is hiring for the positions I applied for. They tell me they will call me back and they never do. This is the second time this has happened. I m over this place and it s unprofessionalism.
