My favorite little neighborhood wine store! A nicely curated selection of wines, most of which are at a very affordable price point. Friendly staff and nice ambiance. If you're in the neighborhood (free delivery!), their Concierge service is awesome, too.

cute boutique wine store but the best part is the local concierge wine delivery service. their sommelier will cater your deliveries to your taste and preferences. if you're local you should definitely take advantage of this service.
Just wanted to give them 5 stars because I had a great experience. I received very good help even while she was preparing for an event that same evening. This was nearly a year ago, but it was well worth reviewing.
We have been frequent customers of DCanter for years, and now especially this year! They have adapted to the change, made on-line shopping easy, including a chat function for recommendations. Love the classes and how we can resume in 2021.
Great selection of wine for any price point. Staff is helpful without making you feel like a wine moron, which I am. They make great recommendations if you are trying to impress or having a low key night. This is where I buy my wine in DC.
You can take a wine class here for about $45 per person or so with 15 other people. Michael is super friendly and knowledgeable, and helps to expand your palate. Stop by if you're in the area, or make a special trip here anyways! It's worth it!
DCanter is great store near Eastern Market. I ve sent many friends here over the years and they ve always been happy to have found Michael and team at DCanter. They really put a lot of thought into what they buy rather than just buying to have something. It is most definitely worth a trip to the area to visit DCanter even if you do not live in the neighborhood.
I love the Concierge service, which I've had for more than 2.5 years now! Highly recommend DCanter--it's a great and innovative small business that stocks great wine at all prices.
Great shop they deliver orders over $75, which has been great during the coronavirus shutdown, and they have a helpful staff that responds promptly to questions and requests for advice via their website. I recommend them to my friends!
I love this place! They have an amazing website that makes it incredibly easy to browse and purchase bottles from home and then pick them up at the store. They also deliver throughout DC and NOVA (inside the Beltway). DCanter has a vast selection. The staff is knowledgeable, enthusiastic, warm, and welcoming. I thought I knew a lot about wine, but then I started shopping here, and they introduced me to SO much more. Cheers!
The staff at DCanter were extremely helpful with selecting a gift for a colleague. They made the process really easy and smooth, despite my being totally remote and in the middle of a global pandemic. Thank you so much to the staff!!
I have been a patron of DCanter since the day they opened, and I have fallen in love with this store and its staff. Not only do I regularly purchase wine in the store, but I have also been a member of it's Wine Concierge program since it's inception several years ago and have also attended wine tastings and classes in the store. The husband and wife owners, Michael and Michelle, are extremely knowledge about wine and are so friendly and welcoming. They are both regularly in the store and will often remember customers names and wine preferences - great personal touches!
My wine concierge, Tess, is fantastic. She is very responsive via email and works with me each month to cater wines to my taste, budget, and changing preferences. Don't waste your time or money with those large, corporate-backed wine delivery programs. Each of those programs is a rip-off and pales in comparison to DCanter's Wine Concierge program. They offer free home delivery for six bottles or more, and they ACTUALLY cater to your tastes and preferences. You have a live person working with you each month to refine your wine profile. Each month is unique and has opened my eyes to so many new wines that I love!
I also highly recommend the in-store classes. I have attended classes taught by co-owner Michael who is extremely knowledgeable about wine and very patient with simple and amateur questions that everyone is bound to ask. He makes wine approachable and easy to learn, and every class is just fun! The tastings are similarly informative and fun, but they are also free! Stop by every Saturday and Sunday afternoon for a treat - you won't regret it!
My wife and I are HUGE fans of this wine shop. It's on the main strip in Barracks Row near the Eastern Market Metro. The owner takes wine seriously and presents his shop well and can recommend the perfect wine for you specifically. My wife and I came here right before our Croatia trip and they pointed out their best Croatian wine.
On Sunday afternoons, they have free wine tastings in their tasting room. They also have an affordable wine club for Capital Hill residents.
Exceptional wine store with top class wine selections. Friendly knowledgeable staff. Fun wine tastings on the weekend. Check out the under $20 shelves for great value and unique wine picks.
Small but well curated wine shop, with really friendly staff. There's a wall of exceptional picks for $15 and under, and regular tastings on the weekend. If you're local and drink wine regularly, they deliver and have a personal wine matching service called a wine concierge.
Had a great experience. I walked in with a specific request for help with wine from a region. Staff was super friendly and helpful and helped me package everything.
The worst. Came here to get several white wine selections for a party. The staffed acted as if I were a second class citizen. Didn't offer to help, and bagged all 8 bottles with an attitude. Never again.
Michael, owner, had a good selection of wine that you won t find in grocery stores. Even better is the concierge club where they hand pick bottles for you each month (delivery is free after 6).
While we don't live in this neighborhood, we do come here regularly for good wine selection and decent prices. Also enjoy their wine classes. Very informative and always pleasant people.
Only a small section of affordable wine- the rest is overpriced. Nonetheless we liked supporting a local business so we shopped there regularly. When we tried to get a rain check on a wine tasting because my husband was sick, they stuck to their 48 hour cancellation policy. Not a great look for a local business trying to get support from locals.
