A lot of things to see, from ancient times to contemporary culture. It definitely requires at least three hasteless visits to check out all exibititions.
Do not miss a chance to experience a piece of Japan modern culture and make a photo in a purikura photo booth

A pearl of Danish culture, the evolution from the era of vinkings through the ages of stone, bronze and metal. With interactive material and videos that guide us through almost 100 showrooms.
An adventure not to be missed,
I recommend!

Great museum
Particularly enjoyed the Viking section the Mongol section and the treasures on the 2nd floor. Even if tired worth getting there!
Took us 3 hours to view 90%.

A very interesting place. Highly recommend for children. It is informative and kids enjoy it. It has a lot of different areas which it covers and the artifacts are well kept. I am so glad that my kids enjoyed it throughly and their excitement will last for long.

Probably the best museum in town. From what one has to visit, with many thematic sections, unfortunately we did not have much time, as it takes more than 3 hours to dedicate to enjoy each section separately. I will definitely visit it again in the future

Was there on 27-11-20 with my oldest daughter.
It was a great experience, it was so beautiful.Have been there quite a few years ago. What a wonderful shop, with many fine things and books.
Just got Rane Willerslev's book on expeditions.
Will be back soon.

95 DKK-14 Euros for a Kindergarten with added museum.Explanations barely readable because placed in corridors with permanently children running around(maybe just danish understand why its necessary to go into museums with absolutely not interested small children).Even the sun charriot-hall doesnt allow to read explanations because of insane light concept.Coronated by dirty toilets. Wasted time and money if comparing with the same museum in Stockholm.

It is a very large museum, covering a bit of everything. The most interesting section is the history section, as it allows you to better understand the country. Less interesting the anthropological one, since it is not very exhaustive, perhaps with the reception of Greenland. The bar-restaurant is accessible without paying the entrance to the museum

We have seen the museum several times when we come to Copenhagen. This time we went specifically after the Viking exhibition and Jim Lyngvild's staging of the same.
Fantastic!
Many more museums could learn from this.
A way to convey knowledge that is much more present.
And luckily we got an eye on Rane's box so it had to be pressed there

As first time visitors, we found the museum layout to be confusing and poorly signed. Also, oddly for such an important institution, the toilet facilities and availability were very inadequate. On the other hand, the artifacts themselves were impressive and thoughtfully displayed together with excellent information plaques. The English translations were much appreciated.

A very interesting and rich collection of ethnographic objects from all over the world, especially from the North European cultures, but also from Asia, from Oceania or pre-Columbian America. From the section of the culture of the Vikings, I expected more, the truth. On the top floor there is a collection of doll houses very complete that will delight many mothers.
The rooms dedicated to Japan are exquisite.
I was struck by the stage with the full orchestra of Java gammelangs. He had never seen anything like that.

A fascinating insight into the history of Denmark and Copenhagen and, best of all, it's free! It will take quite a few hours to get around the whole museum, so leave plenty of time for your visit.

Some of the exhibitions are looking a little dated now, but the white buses temporary exhibition was fantastic and is a must-see while it is still runinng.

I have seen many museums but this is one of the few that was especially engaging - I really enjoyed myself and would love to return one day! It was like going into a time machine and stepping into various homes from different times. Fantastic job! (I went in August 2019, my first time in Copenhagen.)

If you like Viking history this has to be the best I have seen with a huge selection of artifacts and a well laid out history. Combine this with the rest of a well organized museum and you can easily spend many hours here. Nearly all of the exhibits had both Danish and English explanations

Both my husband and I were disappointed with our time spent here
I considered some of the information re cromagnan and Neanderthal man to be out of date
I was very disappointed with a political/socialist comment on the grave site in the bronze age. This is a historical place not an area for political views.
On the 2nd level it was quite confusing, between the palace rooms, historical displays and the story of the Danish empire.
As a mature/seniors couple the poor light made reading difficult. There needs to be toilets on each level and clearly signposted

Danish antiquity is finely presented on the ground floor, but from the stairs and up the exhibition is clattering a bit uncomfortably together.
Look past the Moesgaard Museum in Aarhus if you want to see how history is to be conveyed in the 21st century.

A very impressive large museum with almost everything for history and ancient effects, from ancient times to World War II. It's almost impossible to experience the whole museum in just one day!
