Great food and drinks, weird rules for happy hour and seating

The service is consistently prompt, excellent vibes, welcoming staff members. I will visit again when I am nearby.

Nice outside patio. The food is all right. Beer selection is limited, however they have a bar so you can get whatever mixed drinks you want.

I loved the atmosphere , food was good. book your table ahead of time for better seating.

I love the bottomless Mimosas and the food is very good!

I enjoyed it there. The waitstaff are polite. They made sure to check on us quite often which was refreshing. I went there for the mother's day brunch and also during happy hour. They have some of best potato salad ever! Also drinks are good and properly mixes. I tried three flavors of their mule drinks and liked them all.

Ok I guess , I went on mother's day and they had a buffet, to be honest , for the price and being downtown , I was really not impressed and then you have the atmosphere of royal joke to deal with .

Friday nights are a party! Live DJ, great cocktails, and people dressed to the 9's. We took our friend out for his bday and had a blast dancing the night away.

I proposed to my wife here a year ago this evening thanks for the help of D'Amato's! ...I reached out to the staff via messaging on thier FB home page, and they replied promptly. Even gave me a call to discuss how they could help make it a special night.
All went even more than I excepted.
Tonight, was no exception.... Marvin, our server for the night, was amazing, fun, and the food was awesome! This will continue to be my wife's and I favorite, special place. See you next time. Thank you vey much D'Amato's!

We had dinner yesterday evening at D Amato s Restaurant. The food was excellent and our waitress, Gayle was super nice. Tony was exceptionally helpful, he went over and above the level of professionalism seldom seen in restaurants today. I highly recommend D Amato s.

Excellent Valentines Dinner Night impromptu! Service at the Bar was Excellent!

Customer service was nice but Inwas unimpressed with the food. They were out of the dish I wanted and the fruit tasted like it had been mixed with onions.

I have nothing bad to say about this place! They were overly accommodating, extremely friendly and the food was phenomenal! Portion size was great and the atmosphere was so unique. I highly recommend coming here!!!

Had Sunday brunch and the food was very good and they even had music although it was a little loud where we were sitting. I'll be going again :-)

I live in the neighborhood and heard great things about this place. Came by at 2:30 on a sunday and the hostess told me "the kitchen closes at 3" then I asked does that mean your going to kick us out at 3? and she replied "were leaving at 3" ... not that I even care cause there is plenty of restaurants in Royal Oak. But as a business owner, I would want to know how my staff handles my business, & in this case. Poorly.

Too loud and dark. Pricey but late night happy hour helps.

We had a work event here last night with about 15 people. The staff was friendly, fairly knowledgable as we had a vegan joining us and they don't have a very 'vegan' menu. Okay, well they one item a salad. It looked quite good as well. We had a couple of drinks and ordered dinner. All received what they ordered, we all received our dinner together as well. Often in a big group it's inevitable that someone has to wait for their food. This didn't happen here.

We ordered some appetizers: calamari, antipasto, sausage and peppers and perhaps a fourth but can't recall.
Calamari were the fingers. these were okay. I love rings, fingers are always chewy and rubbery. No different here
Sausage and peppers: Highlight. best no question. A bit of a kick and nicely cooked. Great flavor. Must order
Antipasto: This was pretty good too. Olives, cheeses, meats. Can't really go wrong. Served with toasted points.

For dinner, I had the lamb chops and asked for them to prepared medium rare. While they didn't come out medium rare, they were quite close. I thought very reasonable price-wise as well consider there were (3) double chops. The mint lime sauce was very tasty. I had them put this on the side as often time it's over powering. This was not like others I've had.
Steaks, salads, pasta, chicken and pizza were all ordered. I didn't hear any complaints for dinner and again, I would highly recommend the lamb if that's something you like. Served with a side salad or cup of soup. I chose the salad and while it could have had a little less olive oil dressing, it was very fresh and quite good. Ample amount as well.

Dessert: Oh my. Split cannoli's and had their cinnamon donuts. Cannoli was decent, those donuts however were omg mouth watering delisiousness. Warm, fresh, soft and just enough cinnamon sugar. Highly recommend the donuts. The coffee was just okay.

All in all, I would definitely go back. The reviews were fairly sketchy and I was quite skeptical of the place, but I was pleasantly pleased. The only true negative is parking. Nothing worse than clock watching so you don't have an expired meter.
Service was very good. A younger lady waited on us and did a fantastic job I thought for all of us.
If you are whiskey drinker, you may have died and gone to heaven. I bet they have at least 30 varieties.

Immensely enjoyed the D'Amato experience. Relaxing experience as we celebrated a cousins Send-Off and acceptance to Howard University Law school at 21!! Spent late Brunch (Italian Sausage omelette w/Mimosa) AND Dinner (Spaghetti w/Veal/Pork meatballs in Bolognese sauce) on a Beautiful afternoon. Wonderful food for both meals. Staff was Super Friendly and did not ask us to leave. We will definitely return and spend our dollars here. A Gem!

I frequent this unique restaurant from time to time as I like the special atmosphere that is unique to this restaurant. The staff is very friendly and professional. The service is certainly rapid. Also, the food you get is excellent. I frequent many times and I was always joyful. The expense is reasobable. I highly recommend this place to all my friends.

Really good food, excellent service. Superb martinis and their scallops were phenomenal. Not giving it 5 stars because the Filet Mignon was really good, but for what I payed I would have expected THE best. It wasn't..

Everything we ordered was excellent! Loved the open air space, and the ambiance. Staff was super friendly.
