I saw Camelot at the Cygnet theatre. It was wonderful! Great casting, great execution, inventive set, comfortable seating, sufficient raking so no heads blocking the view of the person behind them. Parking lot next to the theatre. Friendly staff. Great all around.

Great performances, and wonderful staff. If you are passing though San Diego make this a stop at the end of our day in Old Town. If you're from here and have never been, make it a point to go!

Gem of a theater. We saw an afternoon production of Rocky Horror Picture Show and the cast was FANTASTIC and absolutely nailed it. Beautiful little theater, doesn't seem to be a bad seat in the house. They do offer pre-show and intermission drinks. Great location, a bit of a walk from the light rail, but not too bad at all.

Wonderful venue for a play or musical. A Little Night Music was freshly staged and well sung by the complete cast. Great productions and cash bar before show and at intermission!

Loved this venue. Nicely done & well organized. Even managed to get a parking spot in their tiny lot. Rock of Ages was well done, professional and great fun. Now that we've been here we plan to keep an eye out for more performances. As others have said, there's really not a bad seat in the place & we ended up in the very top row, center section. They were perfect for us.

The musical Rock of Ages was so entertaining! Great talent, exceptional singers and musicians! Every seat is wonderful. Love the smaller venue and free close parking. They also offer happy hour prices on concessions a half hour before the show.

Saw Spamalot tonight. The cast and singing we're terrific. The small theater provided excellent views for all. During this bad heat wave, unfortunately the AC seem to best on low. Despite that this tiny theater is a gem, bringing Broadway to Old Town.

The CYGNET THEATRE is a nice little theater that is located within Old Town, San Diego. I went to a vaudeville style play called Animal Crackers, which was a musical-comedy by The Marx Brothers. It was a good performance by live actors ( When I was a university student ,I used to like attending artistic performances sponsored by SDSU, USD and UCSD, as student prices were always low, which encouraged pupils like myself who enjoyed nonconvential arts, to attend these shows.).
Animal Crackers was a big hit on Broadway back in the late twenties when stage acting was making it's transition to motion pictures ; the same year that Mickey Mouse also made his cartoon debute as "Steamboat Willie." I've seem many old Disney cartoons too.
During my generation, the movies that changed my world were Roddenberry's "Star Trek"and George Lucas'es "Star Wars"and "Indiana Jones."
Animal Crackers - by The Marx Brothers - was really funny, especially when performed by "live actors." Their wordiness and abilities to juxtaposition/paraphrase terms that I thought had one only one meaning, into words that somehow rhymed, but also had other completely different meanings was simply crazy. I also didn't know that they used pseudonyms for each other.
The Cygnet Theatre's movie brochure gives you a detailed story of every show that you might choose to attend, so if you are into "live performances" with some good actors, then put on some nice clothes and go enjoy yourselves.
The artists involved in the Cygnet productions all have resumes that include everything from M.F.A.'s, to acting experience that started when they were still children and even shows where a few managed to get a few bit parts on Broadway in "The Big Apple."
The Cygnet Theatre was a wonderful experience however, I really wouldn't recommend it to children, as I doubt that they' be able to grasp the crux of a live performance so complex. The tickets are also guite expensive - they usually start at $25, depending upon the production.
I'm into adventures and science fiction movies and Luke Skywalker and Han Solo are my heroes ; these "futuristic movies" and their super advanced technologies, are what's most popular nowadays however, the performance that I saw was unique and lots of fun too!
Note : They ask that you don't use you android or Apple phones during their performances, as it is a distraction to other guests however, most motion picture movies require the same common courtesy. The lady guest that I was with, was a total embarrassment to me ; she spent the whole performance doing some sort of business and talking one her cell phone however, considering her background, it was to be expected...what a baffoon!

A good mix of shows, some grand, some banal. Parking can be tough especially in the warm months - tourist season. 99% of restaurants nearby are Mexican style food. I f that's what you want - good. If no, then .....

What an awesome theatre. The way the they are arranged means that there isn't a bad seat in the place. With how small it is as well, there's a really great feeling that comes with being around so many people out on the patio pre-show and during intermission. I strongly, strongly, recommend catching a show here as often as you can.

There are some real quality shows here. This place is definitely underrated. The stage is ample, sound is great, and the production staff is professional. They tried out this idea where you live tweet during the show. That was interesting.

Fun!

Cute little cozy theater in Old Town. Puts on surprisingly professional productions for such a small theater. Seats are comfortable and roomy even for a tall person. They have a nice patio out front for relaxing before and after the show, and a selection of snacks and drinks for sale. Parking can be challenging, but their web site has some suggestions that help a lot.
