What a wonderful place to bring your little! Lots of kids play and reading space. They dont even mind a little noise! Beautiful space and very inviting! My grandson loved it and we will definitely be back to explore more story time adventures!
This library is one of the best public libraries in Maine. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and kind. My kids love to read and they always find good material.
Curtis Memorial Library is a terrific library. Staff are courteous, helpful, smart and accommodating. If you live in Brunswick and you don't have a card, you should get one. Once life gets back to some sort of normal, it will be great to get back inside to visit with the staff. And the children's area is spectacular when it comes to special programs designed just for them.
Overall a lovely place! There is one librarian that has been rude EVERYTIME I go in. She laughed at my friend for asking if they accepted a donation of rarely used National Geographic. And she s always acting higher than thou.
Besides her, however, all the other librarians/employees are friendly and helpful. A nice variety of books and other things to borrow! Thankful for this library being close.
The library hosts a wonderful variety of art exhibits, has a really good collection of books, and the library staff are always helpful and interesting to talk with. They have helped me find specific titles on more than one occasion and have shared tips for getting the most out of foreign language study. Curtis feels like a second home.
Great...every staff person is helpful and cheerful.. did I say patient?
Curtis Memorial Library is a real asset to the community. It offers so much more than books. Additional resources include a Family Resources Handbook, free/discounted museum passes, technology help, genealogy resources and lots of other great stuff too. Another nice benefit is being able to access materials from libraries all across Maine via the Minerva network. It is also a very welcoming place. Staff are very helpful and seem happy to answer questions. Volunteer opportunities are also available.
It has been exceptionally difficult during COVID to find environments to do school work in. So seeing that they had reopened I was pretty excited to head over and do some assignments as I have done in previous semesters of my academic career. With the pandemic occurring I had full expectations of socially distancing myself from others and maintaining the usage of my mask, well I should say full usage of my mask because upon entering the building a staff member rudely asked another person who appeared to have some learning difficulties to pull their mask up. As that encounter rubbed me wrong I should have just taken off then. But determined to take advantage of a quiet environment with wifi accessibility I went upstairs to begin working. I sat working silently, not disturbing others, as well as maintaining my distance from others and not hogging any resources that someone else needed to use. During a time such as this and working for the general public, I have often thought of what others could be going through. Did staff members take the time to do that? No, but what they did take the time to do is interrupt work I was doing to impose a time limitation they put on their public facility, to the point of having my anxiety reach a head and begin breaking down emotionally and mentally. I don t have many other options of places I can go to that are as quiet as a library and that offers internet access should I actively need it during my studies, especially on a weekend day. I have had many pleasant experiences doing school work at this location and will now never come in again to use their resources which is really unfortunate for me. This is an experience that myself and my anxiety will not soon forget and will make sure to pass on to friends and family alike. So if anyone out there is looking for a COVID friendly facility to do work in, this is not a place I recommend.
Very good library. Anyone under 18 can get meals throughout the summer they hold the spot for mid coast hunger prevention to come. Always very friendly. Going out of there way to help kids especially this time. Doing take home projects. Teen projects. Summer reading during pandemic. Open now for curbside pick up. Favorite library to go to! Have cart for free and discontinued books from library occasionally usually fridays sometimes can find other days.
