This place is an institution predating EVERYthing else on the Pike but you must be ok with Yuengling, Bud or Miller Lite and not be a beer snob like myself.

Hank Dietle's tavern is a classic dive in Rockville. It's an institution and if you are in the area it is a must visit. Leave your expectations at home, and immerse yourself in true Rockville culture. Whether its just a night of playing pool, or Rockabilly night with all the regulars you are bound to have a good time. Lisa is an incredible bartender and you should consider yourself lucky if you have the pleasure of being served by her.
An older crowd, but it was fun and the music was entertaining
A dive, go here have something to eat, listen to the music, drink your beer.
It's kind of a dump. But in a good way. Super cool & laid back vibe. Bartenders are slightly rude but not in an out of control way. You should expect at least some level of rudeness at a kick ass place like this. Get over your oversensitive self. Beyond that I don't get the retarded people that say it's a "great place to grab a bite to eat". They don't serve food you freaking morons. In closing, the spot is totally worth checking out. Peace-
Situated in North Bethesda, Hank Dietle's gives you an odd sensation that you've stepped into some bar in the middle of West Virginia. Very limited beer selection, no food, and so-so furnishings.
It has a few saving graces though. 1) Very cheap (something that's tough to find in North Bethesda), 2) they allow and encourage you to bring your own food, and 3) they do live music quite often.
Definitely a place to go if you're in the mood for cheap beer and aren't to interested in fine dining.
I'm guessing it's an OK bar but don't miss the Corned Beef King's food truck at lunchtime!
Rating the bar 3.
Rating the corned beef sandwich 5!
It is what it is. And pretentious it is not. Great for cigars on the porch!
Local "hole in the wall" dive bar. Serving beer and wine , 1st bar in the county established in 1916. So much history here, and a great mix of people from long time regulars to new comers
The true meaning of dive bar. It's old, dingy, and looks dirtier than it is. However the beer is cold and the people there are super nice.
Best and oldest dive Bar in MD no liquor but the beer cold people are friendly and the Corn Beef King truck sits out side grab a over stuffed sandwich grab a cold beer and play your favorite tunes on the jukebox.
It is what it is a dive bar. Friendly crowd and cheap drinks. Get your food elsewhere. No kitchen.
Exactly what you want in a dive bar. A haven in North Bethesda/Rockville. Cheap beer, real people, pool table, juke box, live music on weekends, and potato chips! Perfect! (Don't tell anyone)
Had a blast here for halloween. Outside of that, not idea
The epitome of your local "dive bar." Still love it though. Pool table is decent.
Bare bones beer & wine only. No kitchen. One big room. Good live music at times.
Mixed feelings about this iconic landmark. Had a few minutes to kill while waiting on the kids to finish an activity, thought I d drop by for a beer and watch some of the game. The temperatures outside were in the teens and the inside wasn t much warmer. The bartender said they weren t making any money so the heat was set very low. Nobody was there (probably got froze out if the were). Had to keep my coat on inside. While I appreciate Hank Dietle s for what it is, it was shabbier than usual and the beer fridge was near bare on a Friday night with a band scheduled to play later that evening. I wish it success in the future.
If you're a genuine, seasoned and salt of the earth human more interested in people, than pumpkin/cranberry spice Autumn Ale's going to make your night, this place is for you, real folk, about meeting real people.
All those other reviewers; stop yer bitchin' & head downtown DC where you can be bled dry for a beer, turned toxic by "plastic club kids" then numbed by the loud, obnoxious music.
Walked in at 2pm one man on a stool talking to a bartender. A draft and a bottle cost $8.75 and the coin-op pool table was $1.25 per vend. Left before 5 and there were about 10 people having a good time. Great dive!
