Friendly service however coffee took 20 minutes and breakfast 40 minutes. Also had to line up for 10 minutes to pay. Would not recommend, especially as there is so much on offer around the area.

Service is always faultless. Food is always really good. I like it here but sadly I don't love it. The staff are nice enough. I can't actually fault them, I can't describe why I don't love it?! For my it's too noisy which makes me sound like a Nana (no disrespect Nan!) but I have always liked being able to hear my dining companions & I find it hard going here. Wine list is great & the coffee very much to my taste. Wish they would bring back the cumulus espresso cups with the different coloured inners - I had 8. Now only two left & not available any more will continue to return & see if the love will grow!!

Coffee arrived twenty minutes after they took the order (and it was lukewarm at best). We ordered the asparagus and fried eggs ($18 each) but they served us avocado, feta and boiled eggs (cheaper and my wife doesn't eat feta). If we hadn't been waiting for 30 minutes and been in a hurry, I would have returned the food. I did tell the waitress that we ordered the fried eggs, and she said that's not available. I said it was on the menu, and she said it wasn't. She probably thought I was tried to get the avocado with fried eggs, which is why she said what she did. Anyway, we ate the disappointing breakfast. When it was time to pay, the bill had our original order on it - asparagus and fried eggs, order taken by another guy. So they clearly messed it up after taking the order. Instead of checking what we ordered after I said we ordered the fried eggs, they didn't bother. All they did at the end was give us the coffee free, but of course we paid for the more expensive breakfast that wasn't served to us. Such a disappointment.

Visited the second floor: great food, huge selection of great wines.
Chef menu price unfortunately aligned with Melbourne metropolitan city prices: A $ 75 per menu with starter, main course of meat and dessert.
Bad tasting non-bottled water.

Second floor visited: very good meal, wide choice of good wines.
Chef's menu price alligned to the high price of the city: starter, main meat dish and dessert @ 75A $.
No brand water, not from the bottle, with orrible taste.

Had lunch here with overseas visitors. Very average food with the atmosphere of a high school cafeteria. The duck was subpar, the trout was ok. Nothing at all memorable, not worth going back. Our overseas guests were not at all impressed.

Beautiful modern Australian cuisine. Friendly staff. Loved it!
Cumills Ink
A famous restaurant for modern Australian cuisine. The service is also excellent. It's a casual restaurant, but the quality of the food is very good and everything is delicious! You can also enjoy wine and tapas. The price will be reasonable.

Food was great (dinner).

Food was great (dinner).

Service was friendly and welcoming although missing some of the polish I was expecting. For example; napkins left on the table (not placed on lap). Empty bottles on our tiny table, moved by staff repeatedly, only to be taken away when we asked. Not a single plate or cutlery change over four courses.

It s quite possible that I am losing touch with what fine dining actually means, but I kind of felt this place was lacking in the finer touches.

Cumulus never disappoints. It's been about 8 or 9 years since my first visit and it has been consistently good every visit. Staples such as the foie gras are always just what you need to put a smile on your face. Modern well presented and considered food that is great for a pick me up or a special occasion. Can get a little loud at times but that is part of the fun. Wine list is adventurous. Wait staff are always just the right level of attentive. The open kitchen means that countertop seating is a spectacle. Get the madelines!

Great experience! Although we went for brekky on a Sunday, and had to wait a few minutes for a table, the friendly service made it all worth it. The food is top quality- fresh and delicious, and despite it being a buzzing place, the atmosphere is great with breathable space. Chef Bill is lovely too! Thanks so much for a good time :)

This place came recommended and it was very good. Had the big breakfast which was very good. Would have liked to go on the weekend so i could have tried the ham hock. Make sure you have the madeleines. Order them the same time as your breakfast and it's the perfect way to finish off your meal with your second cup of coffee.

Was very poor the food was very basic and not that interesting. Cooked better food at home. There are places around the area that are much cheaper and the foods better. Way to expensive for what you get. Dont bother if you wanna go there as you will just be dissapointed!

My colleagues went here for breakfast while visiting the city. We were all absolutely impressed with the atmosphere and the delicious food. We loved the variety of choices and all the extras that came with the food, like the jams and honey. Also, we were impressed with the metal straw that came with the orange juice. Big props for doing the little things.

It s unethical where a restaurant insists a group of more than 6 ppl to go with their so called set sharing menu as if they couldn t cope with the number of customers. We had a group of 10 for my friend s birthday where each of us had to pay $75 for the set menu dinner. Tiny portions where served where we had to share two plates for each dish among 10 of us. This is not the fault of the kitchen or the waiters, instead something was very wrong with their marketing - they should never advertise 10 courses where actually there were just 3 courses in fact. I mean, how could they list roast potatoes as one of the courses??!! Their PR team obviously have no clue of what a good dinning experience means and how to effectively make an appealing marketing. When you set a high expectation and don t deliver it, what you gonna get is apparently an unsatisfactory experience. How disappointing!

Over the last decade this place has been like a second home. Birthdays, first dates, Father s Day dinners, breakfasts to cheer me up, lunch with friends, boozey solo sessions and late night charcuterie + wine escapades. It s also the only place where I can eat alone in Melbourne and feel 100% comfortable. It s also the only place in Melbourne that nails breakfast, lunch, dinner services and drinks. Can not wait for this place to open back up. And in the interim, the roasted lamb shoulder delivered is everything you would expect from eating inside this Melbourne institute. The caeser salad is also amazing :) Can not recommend this place any more highly. Here s to another decade of amazing dining experiences x

A small casual restaurant serving delish food with good service.

Although all the dishes were excellent and nicely presented, I'm going to highlight my favorites.

For entree the cold meats on the charcuterie platter were very tasty however my pick would be the tuna toast, also beating the stuffed zucchini flowers which were beautifully presented on the plate.

For mains the lamb shoulder was a standout. The large portion of lamb was moist and tender.

Finally, dessert. It was difficult to choose a favourite but if I was to it would be the rumbaba. It is not a dessert often offered at most restaurants and at Cumulus Inc. it is made even better because it was served with a bottle of aged rum so that you can add as much as you wish according to your taste. As the rum is the feature ingredient in rumbaba we of course had to ensure that it had a strong rum flavour. The rumbaba was nicely complemented with custard.

We had a great dining experience and highly recommend Cumulus Inc.

I hardly give 5 stars, because it just has to be unique. The Cumulus Up is such a restaurant. Amazing, we had a 6-8 course menu with a perfect selection of matching wines and a leg of lamb at the end. If I ever get to Melbourne again, I'll have to go there again.

Only dined here three time and I felt the food was fair. the service was great but I left each time feeling it was not a place I would recommend. All the dishes I tried I felt I had had better versions of at other restaurants in the city.

We love to visit Melbourne and its restaurant scene and visit the city about 4 times every year. With a focus on chef hat restaurants we ve avoided Cumulus previously because the use Open Table and not Qantas Restaurants (now Quandoo) as their booking system so we don t get Qantas points for the reservation. However, it s been recommended many times and is just behind the Sofitel where we usually stay. This trip we are here with a friend who is pescatarian and she was keen on the menu. We only ended up booking the day before (for a Saturday night dinner).

Very disappointing, I had breakfast on Saturday morning and I choose a 'Granola, yogurt and seasonal fresh fruit plate' just to discover that there was NO fresh fruit.. The service is also very slow, no more, sorry.

Pleasant. Presented with a pre-feed standing area you know this establishment has customers.
And rightly so. Easy menu with a slight brit stodge tone - I had the english brekkie altered slightly to suit my crispy bacon fetish. Coupled with a small crisp of baguette slathered with delicious blood sausage - it made the meal.
My wife received the house special cumulus breakfast. Nothing more than a boiled egg , some toast and some preserves and yogurt but it did hit the spot.
A gem of solid basic servings in an otherwise saturated hipster organic market.

Went there twice as it's beside our home. The food is very fat and is a bit overprice for what it is. It's very noisy. My fiancee don't want to go anymore there.

They seems to do breakfast as well.

It seems to be still very trendy to go there, it's always full.

This place was delicious! We came for a Sunday brunch and sat at the bar. It had a really nice atmosphere, not too noisy and we didn't have to wait for a seat when we arrived. The staff were all lovely and the food was really tasty. Can recommend both the porridge and the mushroom toast.
