Avoid breakfast here. The crumpets were sold out by 10am. We ordered the full breakfast and the baker bleu country loaf. The eggs on the full breakfast were hard and overcooked and the meat was chewy. The baker bleu country loaf was a cold dish (including the eggs). Very pricey for something that could be cooked better at home. The service was average as was the decor. The only positive was the coffee.

Great for breakfasts! Their coffee is also pretty good and the staff are nice and friendly. It's not a huge place, so I'm guessing booking maybe required at certain times. It would also be rude to visit and not try their hot and fresh Magdalenas!

I went there for lunch with my friends. It was pretty busy which I expected but tables and chairs are squeezed in small space and didn t feel comfortable. Our next table had 6 people sitting but the size of table was same as ours(we were just 3). We couldn t move at all. Quite unfortunately, the service was not good. Most staff were very friendly and helpful but only one lady, seemed like a floor manager was very arrogant, never made eye contact and spilled our wine twice but no apology. Such a shame experience as food was fantastic! Gnocchi particularly was a ripper!! However if there is a chance to get same customer service, I will never go back.

The atmosphere is busy yet relaxing at the same time , the staff are friendly and the food is sensational, they have been running for over a decade so if the review don t do it for you maybe the time frame on how strong they been going for will ! Definitely coming back here again when I m back down here .

Went for breakfast and the food and coffee was ok. Others I was with felt the proportions to be small. On a Friday morning it was packed. We had got there quite early ~7:30am and so had table. By the time we left ~8:30am, there were people waiting in line to get in. We walked away not understanding the hype.

It s very nice but the waits can be very lengthy. Coffee is very good. Good noisy ambience. Food is delicious but minimalist. People should consider recent media reports when considering. For me it was worthwhile but plenty of other choices to try before another visit.

We had a rather lackluster and quite forgettable experience here. It all started with the reservation coordinator who lied to us about our seats, and then we were saddened to see their menu was just a copy of other restaurants in the area. Service was too busy to take care of plates and proper silverware. I wouldn t recommend this place unless you have no where else to go. The upstairs was hardly any different. Cocktails weren t worth the costs and I don t think the food was worth the value. Sad to hear that it s been given such great accolades, too bad it doesn t live up to the praise.

The food is amazing, great service. We didn't want for anything the whole evening. Was so impressed the first time we took a friend later in the week. Thanks to the management and staff for making both visits unforgettable

Sat in cumulus as I write having breakfast. Lovely grown up relaxing atmosphere and a particularly smooth coffee. Also wonderful natural yoghurt and fresh mango - great to have a light option on the menu. Delicious start to the day.

Expensive, noisy and furnished with uncomfortable stools -hardly ideal for a two-and-a-half-hour dinner. Plus we had to stand in a corner to wait nearly twenty minutes for our pre-booked table. No doubt many of the younger diners (who were clearly enjoying the vibe) would reply ok, boomers .

This was most definitely the finest culinary experience of my life.
Me and a friend ordered to share the sardines, serano jamon , waygu beef and finally a chocolate cherry desert.
The sardines where perfectly grilled and salted and the balance with the thinly sliced cucumber was just right.
The serano jamon had some pickled green chillies that went hand in hand with the salty earthy flavour of the soft meat.
The waygu beef was lightly pan seared and toped of with a brilliant sauce that was beyond belief i had to get some bread and mop it all up.
And last the chocolate cherry desert was not to sweet and very refreshing with the bursts of cherries.
I would visit melbourne again just to eat at this place , talk to the staff and let them know what you like they will give you the best advice on what to have.

Thanks for the great food and the wine.

It feels like we have been to Cumulus at all times of the day: from early morning coffee and breakfast to late-night digestifs. Although the food can be quite fancy, the atmosphere is more casual than you would think. We always feel very welcome. I would especially recommend the ricotta gnocchi, and the chocolate tart for dessert.

One of the best meals i had in melbourne. Good place for a group of 4-5. Not a fan of lamb but i understand why it is highly raved. Beef was amazing; really tender and tasty. Extensive wine menu there too!

Great selection of wines and absolutely perfect dishes. Beef steak was amazing and tomato salad is also nice. You should make reservation even just two. And counter seat is really fun. You can see everything in the kitchen.

I was eating at your restaurant when I came across one of your chef's, I think he may be a casual there, his name was Allan Qi. He was an exquisite man and he played an integral part of such an amazing dining experience. His pleasant ambiance and loving demeanor made me feel very comfortable at the restaurant and in fact, made my food taste even better. I really hope that next time I go there he will be working. As an outside customer he is a man that should have a raise or even a promotion, a big one at that. I can see he will be pivotal to success.

Beautiful dinner experience. Very attentive service with great recommendations for food and drink make for overall terrific time. Highly recommended for any amount of people but as a group of three the portion sizes and selections for wine were perfect. Moving upstairs after dinner to the bar makes for a great way to finish of the night.

Several friends and I went to Cumulus earlier this month--It was fantastic! The highlight of the night was how knowledgable and helpful the staff were with helping us pick food & drink. I can't recommend this spot enough!

Went there for breakfast with the missus. I had no issue with my order and the food /coffee was good, but not much above local fares else where. The issue here is that my partner had specific dietary requirements and her toast arrived late, still cold in the middle with perfunctory service for the both of us. Either they had an off day or they don't like peeps with food issues to eat there. Basically i had a bite of her toast and you know that sort of awful taste you get, but tolerated anyway because you are hungover and desperately hungry, raiding the fridge and the only thing you can find is some stale refrigerated bread that you can't be bothered to heat up cos you have zero co-ordination and Thor is practicing his hammer throws at your head? that's the toast she got from Cumulus Inc.

We had breakfast here, we had to wait a little bit for a table (which is fine), while we were waiting we were offered coffee (not the best coffee by the way, but fair). The food was good although I had to return my eggs because they were overcooked. The smoked sea trout was excellent. A little overpriced ($9 for a grapefruit juice!) But very good overall.

Overpriced for mediocre food. Ordered the Grilled sausage, smoked hock, braised beans & 65/65 egg. Very disappointing. the grilled sausage tastes like spam. the baked eggs was so flat it tasted like straight from the can and cooked till it is dry with no spices whatsoever to make it taste like it was from a restaurant. Only at the end of the meal i found a few stands of pulled hock in the baked beans. And guess what.... the bread is placed on low shelves NEXT TO THE DOOR TOWARDS THE TOILET!!!!! there... never coming back. my bf had the Smoked bacon bap, gentleman s relish which looks like few slices of bacon pan fried and thrown on sour dough and that cost $13.90????? soy latte tastes dilute and weak. madeline was average as it was a little burnt on the edges and a little too dry to my liking but the taste was still nice. this was the only consolation from thi place. but not coming back ever. pretentious cafe. disappointed that others gave such high comments far from the truth. dont waste your money. especislly when tour bread is so near the toilet and only 10cm from the ground.

Service staff here is what makes this place terrific.
All staff from waiter to bartender are very pleasant and happy to answer any questions.
I highly recommend sitting at a bar seat in front of the kitchen as you ll be mesmerised watching the chefs cook and the hustle and bustle of everything going on.
Although the menu sounded quite boring the food far exceeded expectations and the cocktails were great too.
Would recommend for a great date night in the city in the top end of Melbourne cbd.

Had a brunch here last time visiting this place. The place was jam-packed with people, full of bustling energy. Tried the stir fried mushroom with shaved cheese forming like a bit of snow and some greens. Really simple dish, but quite flavorsome as well.

Beautiful breakfast, had the smoked ocean trout which was delicious and not to fishy. The coffee at the time had beautiful cocoa overtones, whilst not the best I've had it was pretty good. If you like personal space this place may not be for you, we where sat at the "bar" which is directly next to people we didn't know on either side. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

Great food, wine and atmosphere. Have eaten lamb shoulder at a few places now but the lamb shoulder here is one of the best. Sitting along the kitchen and being able to watch the food being cooked in front of you is a great feature

This is a review on the bar and service and not on the food. I was invited here by a friend who has been a regular for years. It was a wet Melbourne evening and came in with raincoat, beanie, and brolly. I was definitely out of place but once I undressed to my normal attire, fitted right in.
We sat at the bar and conveniently there were little clothing/bag hooks in front of the bar stools. Bingo!
Behind us was buzzing with those dropping in for a drink, starting an early dinner and by the time I left, the first of the solid evening diners.
The waiter (wish I got his name) was so lovely and his customer service was outstanding as was anyone we interacted with.
A G&T plus a beer to start. Impressed that the straw was metal - resueable. Nice touch everyone. Then we were enticed with a Negroni because.....wait for it.....it s Negroni week. The waiter gave us a concise summary of what it is but frankly, after the word gin I was already in!
I watched him prepare one and wish I d made a video. It s quite the art to mix and blend the ingredients. The first sip is tantalising with the aroma of the citrus on the glass rim along with the smoky mix of alcohol. I can t say it was brilliant but certainly appreciated the experience of trying something new.
If the food is as food as the drinks service then I will return and rereview Cumulus.
Thank you to all the staff for a great few hours respite from the rain and warm ambience.
