Avoid this school if possible, especially if you want to stay on campus. Campus living is isolated and depressing for many students, there's just not much to do on campus or in the surrounding area. Many students leave on weekends to "get away". I had a horrible transfer experience with this school. They have only a handful of advisors, it's hard to get the help you need and they will argue with you about accepting pretty basic classes like English 102. There's not enough parking. There's plenty of room to expand, but has the worst parking I've seen and I've attended multiple schools in two states. Arriving an hour before class doesn't always work. I've missed classes at times looking for parking. Shady ticketing practices by campus police. The student and student housing parking isn't separated clearly and Alot of people get tickets for accidentally parking in student housing spaces. Food options are very expensive and the quality is pretty low. Expect to eat from vending machines most days if you can find one near class. Theres two cafes and a few restaurants on the opposite side of campus from where classes are located. I only made the trek a few times in two years, but this is your best bet for food and a cup of coffee. Overall the teaching quality is pretty average, same as community college.. but I had some pretty bad ones, and one great spanish teacher. DON'T COME HERE FOR A ART DEGREE! unless you want a degree in graphic design, the art department mostly sucks..I don't have enough space to get into those issues...

Best teachers I've ever had.

Best teachers I've ever had.

Records and Administration department is top notch and really goes above and beyond to help their students in any way they can. Great school and even better people.

Great place for book lovers like me because it has a lovely library and lots of nice reading spots all around. That's about it. There is no culture or school spirit here, but it's still a young school so maybe things will change. Admin staff is wicked fast, which pretty much makes up for all of CI's shortcomings. Compared to other csu schools CI has better food, class sizes, and teachers (from my experiance). The negatives are (as compared to other csu schools) boring/isolated, crappy parking, and no way to escape without a car (a single bus passes through to the amtrack station in camarillo, strip mall in oxnard, and back again). I really wanted to give this place at least four stars because by my standards it's a great school, but the fact there is no place on or near ci to get coffee is a deal braker. There's this crappy feurdian sip that is nasty. We had it at my community college, but that was in LA where there was a hipster coffee shop or starbucks every few blocks. Anyway, here is my honest reveiw for anyone looking to attend CI. Great school, but like all places it has its faults.

The campus is Isolated, 15 minutes drive away from Camarillo town. It is Dead during holidays and breaks. Staffs are very friendly, informative, helpful and kind. University has few food places situated in town hall area. It also has residency area in which non-students are allowed to live.
