Crowne Plaza Orlando Downtown Review

READ BEFORE BOOKING!! THERE IS NO CONSIDERATION FOR GUEST SAFETY

I booked a hotel through City Place to stay at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Orlando, FL for 2 days. October 11 - 13.

On the evening of October 11th. 2014, I checked into my reserved hotel room. I went out for birthday festivities with friends and returned about 2 am. During that time, a few male adults were running down the halls like children in a drunken state of mind. I called the front desk to report the behavior in which I was told that security would be sent up. About an hour late the commotion started again, I again called the front desk and requested something be done to calm the noise so I could sleep. Then a bam on my room door, upon opening it, one of the drunken males hit me in my nose.

My partner at that point called the font desk and advised them of the situation. Security came to our room and questioned us. Security then begin knocking on the rooms near ours, when an argument broke out between myself and the neighbors because security knocked on their door.

Orlando PD came and advised my partner and I would have to leave the hotel per management on duty.

While packing our things, one of the three officers there advised the manager (who was in the hall) "had a change of heart" after speaking with them and other guest on the 4th floor. When I ask to be moved to another room for my safety the manager declined and advised I either stay in my room or I leave the establishment.

We ended up leaving at 4 am with the police escort and had to pay to stay with another hotel chain.

I have contacted Crown Plaza and was advised I would have to go through my booking agent City Place.

At this point, no one is answering my calls or emails.

I have simply ask for a full refund as I feel it fair. Not only did anyone not take my safty into consideration, I am incurring medical bills over this incident

I am tired of playing round robin with the most unprofessional group of people. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY, TIME OR FAMILY SAFETY!!

Overall we had a good experience. Only rating 4 stars instead of 5 because of the lack of self-parking (You are forced to pay a valet $24 per night) and the fact the restaurant/on-site bar closes promptly at 11 even if there are several people willing to "support" the lounge staying open. All of the staff we encountered were friendly and the room was great. There is a lot of construction going on around it right now so it is sort of a pain to get into and out of but that is nothing that the hotel controls.

My husband and I were in town for a concert and this place is awesome. The staff was great. Shamill at the front desk was so sweet and accommodating. Our king suite was amazing. The hotel is in a great location so many shoppes and restaurants nearby. This is definitely one of our favorites now.

Bad experiences. Tube backed up with laundry wash and all my belongings got soaked. Will think twice about staying here again.

Rooms are very nice. Parking is expensive and not included. Breakfast is not included either. Nice hotel but overpriced. Would not recommend.

Not what you expect on a Crowns Plaza visit...especially when you are from europe...

One of the cheapest feeling and oldest hotels I've ever stayed in. Not my cup of tea. Looks like they tried to redo the rooms and what not. But you're just paying for an old room and a new lobby. Staff could have been more inviting and plesent while I was there.

Loved this hotel, I stayed two weekends in a row. The customer service it s amazing, specially the servers/staff at the breakfast buffet and the breakfast itself was delicious. Super comfortable beds and clean rooms. Definitely staying here again when visiting Orlando, FL. I didn t give them a 5 star because there was a lot of noise one night and we were supposed to be in the quiet floor . It was Easter weekend so I m pretty sure they were really busy and couldn t accommodate these loud big drunk family on another floor. Recommend 100%!!!

Nice and clean. .. friendly staff. .. only thing I didn't like is that the Bar closed at 10pm... Other than that I recommend this hotel

The hotel itself is nice and worth checking out. However, the customer service is very poor and the complete opposite of their motto "Superior Service". The night manager Russel, does not inform you check in and check out times so he can charge you an extra night.More importantly the hotel has shuttles that show you around the city but Russel did not inform me about that either. I tried contacting the person who runs the hotel and even left a voicemail but haven't received a call back. Feels like I got taken advantage of... you're better off checking in somewhere else.

The staff was great!! I checked in late Saturday night and was greeted by a cheerful front desk staff. I believe the woman who checked me in was named Kimina. She was fast and informative =) I got dressed and asked the ON front desk and valet what was a good area to go to and they sent me to Main St in downtown where I had an AWESOME TIME ! I got back super late and accidentally overslept. Housekeeping knocked on my door and woke me up. I called the front desk to let them know that I had overslept and the MOD extended my stay till 12:30. =) I left my suite super cleaned for housekeeping because I didnt want to mess up her day for my late check out. When I got down stairs around 1 pm. The FDM Eric Jones was amazing! He took my luggage, gave me a whole list of restaurant recommendations and even gave me a cup of ice and a soda. I guess he sensed my hangover lol ... He was super sweet and looked like a million bucks!! Overall my short stay was amazing! The hotel was clean the room was beautiful, the amenities were nice, and the location was great. Just a $12 uber to main street. My only downside was that I thought that I would have a balcony in my room and when I got in there it was smaller than the photos and also locked. I was looking forward to some fresh air. Otherwise it was great !! Def will be back next time I come to Orlando!

The place is dated. I can smell weed in the hallway. The doors are not well insulated. I could hear everything ppl in the hallways were saying/ singing etc. I got mysterious bug bites from their bed. Housekeeping staff is terrible. Didn t pick up old towels, pick up trash and never changed bedding until we asked her to. Then she left the door open. We later changed to another room bc of mysterious bug bites. That room smelled straight up like cigarettes and weed. I just can t stand that smell so I am currently in the lobby waiting for them to figure out where to place me(again). It s 12:33AM.

Rooms are really big and nice. Great pool and hot tub. Great customer service.

-Rooms does not have nice views (the surrounding area is ugly & noisy).
-Furniture's quality is so bad
-Location is bad, nothing available in walking distance
-No self parking available as mentioned in their website.

In short, the quality of this hotel is not different from any cheap regular hotels such as motel6. However The price only is more expensive.

The location is very conveniently located right at the edge of downtown Orlando. I was here with 2 dear friends and we were very well-treated, save for the strange look that Shamill at the front desk gave me when I told her that the one king-sized bed was fine for all 3 of us. The bed was very comfortable. Housekeeping provided 3 bath towels prior to check-in, but only 2 the second night. Didn't notice that till the next morning. I got a good rate on my stay here, considering hotel level and location. Overall, comfort and location are great, even though my Executive King Room provided a pathetic view of the always under construction I-4. Service unexceptional, except for the valet guys. They rock!!

Beautiful hotel , parking hard to access for larger trucks

Came for a game at Campjng World Stadium. The hotel becomes an exciting location whenever there is a game with lots of energy in the lobby and bar. Shamill at the front desk was wonderful and very personable. Bonus for any electric car drivers, there is a EV charger from Chargepoint in the lot. Only slight downside is $24 valet but all of downtown is expensive to park.

Recently checked inn before I was even let in the room someone was at the door telling us to keep it down because of the noise. I'm still trying firgure out how we where picked out of all the people to be the ones causing the issues.as a loyal customer to the Crowne plaza hotels I feel like this was unacceptable.in the time that we live in it feels real uncomfortable to be racially profield when their where multiple other parties coming in and out the elevators.not sure if I can ever withstand the displeasure I received and be able to stay here again just unacceptable.

Omg!! I was wowed by the hospitality. . Amazing amazing staff! No concerns , nothing negative to say. Breakfast was great , lunch was BOMB! There's 3 people in general that I want to personally give a big thank you to. I will reach out to the hotel myself and speak with them individually that's how much I enjoyed!! I will visit again.

The staff are very friendly and helpful, the room was modern and spacious, and the location was convenient for my work needs.

Very nice rooms for the price, not too busy, located close to many attractions, and a very professional staff. We greatly enioyed it. Parking is limited and the bed was a little firmer than we prefer, but overall a great choice

Called October 25th 2017 4:20am, to make a reservation and did not make it past the ill mannered employee who answered the phone. Alex was rude and does not like answering the phone, or being bothered with people's questions. When I asked the cost of one night stay, his response was "WHAT!?". I stated it may be for several nights, his response was "This is not an extended stay hotel." When he offered to transfer me to a Reservationist, I replied "That would be a good ideal." He remarked "Yea", and transferred me. I chose the Crown for their quality, however I had better treatment at a lesser 'Starred' Hotel.
I will not be choosing the Crown Plaza Orlando on this visit.

Great room, free printing, had 2 super helpful employee experiences

They kicked up out without warning with police after we paid for 3 nights for TALKING too loud. My advice, dont stay there if you make ANY NOISE. They have almost no insulation obviously between walls.

Very clean rooms, comfy beds, front desk staff very nice. The only downside is the fact that when I called for rates they never mentioned it was 17.00 per day for parking, they left that as a surprise for when I got here. Unprofessional in my opinion to not explain that prior to reservation when going over prices. Other than that minor hiccup I would return

There bistro is solid, nothing special. No fizzles but a good bar inside. The rooms are impressive! Also they have a shuttle that can take you and pick you from your business or party destination. In my case party! So a little impressed with that. It's in a shakier part of downtown so you have to be cool with that and balance that towards the many positives. Taking everything it's a pretty nice hotel definitely on par and above some 3 star hotels!

Welcomed us with courtesy and respect. Very helpful and on their job.

The rooms were nice and clean. The staff were attentive.

I was very pleased with this hotel. Everyone was very helpful and friendly. From the valet person to the lady cleaning rooms. The room was very clean as was the public rooms. Rhe room also has a micro wave, fridge, sink and coffee maker. The wait staff was delightful. Food was good. The breakfast buffet was more than cereal and toast. Hand made omelets and fresh fruit (not just a few bananas) and cheese. If I have anything negative to say it would the drain in bathroom sink was slow. If you are going to Amway Ctr it is right down street. I would go back.

Service is great. Rooms are wonderful, albeit a bit noisy on the freeway side. Location is a bit far from night life, but a short cab/Uber away.

Hotel was nice and clean. For the price they should give free coffee and tea in the lobby. They charge for parking.

I was just here to visit my friend but from what I saw, everything was nice. Dont try to park your own car though. Its a nightmare!

Construction around the building. I was forced to pay $25 per day to park in a lot that doesn't belong to them but to the condo property next door. Rooms are old and dated. Beds are uncomfortable. Not in downtown, but near downtown. Sits next door to mens salvation army food kitchen. A bit scary because they hang around all day. It really seems to be in the hood. So be careful!!!!

Nice room but the iron was missing and I had to call several times to get one making me late for work this morning

Everything seemed to be trying to make my stay more difficult this weekend, my room keys stopped working at least 5 times and the safe wouldn't open making me wait for maintenance to drill other open and delaying my departure.

Great rooms. Good location. Easy in and out for downtown Orlando.

Good hotel, great spot for a business seminar. Food was surprisingly good. Quite impressed.

Room was neat and clean quite spacious. Very comfortable beds. Only downside to the room was the bathtub did not drain appropriately, water was standing all around our ankles. The bar and restaurant was great. Great staff and the wings and blue cheese slaw was to die for l!

Extremely dated rooms way below expectations. Downtowm location is maybe the only reason to choose this hotel.

Nice lobby with a cool fountain. There are good amenities here. The room had a strong smell of chemical cleaning products.

Room was good for the price. Does not come with continental breakfast. Found after the fact that it was supposed to be offered at check in for 5.00. Was not. Cost was 20.00 if you wanted it that morning. Not!!!

Very nice rooms, and pleasant staff. The only ddownsides are that the restaurant persistently harbors an odd smell and there is no free parking.

Great place, things inside a little overpriced but nice hotel

Rooms were clean and organized. The temperature in the room fluctuated a lot that I was a tad bit uncomfortable. Food at bar was great and service was excellent as well.

Clean hotel, nice and neat rooms. The staff was very attentive - one of the evening staff took us on the first evening from the hotel to the inner loop station and explained how to get to a certain place we wanted (even waited until we got up).

We understand parking is not complimentary but with construction going around your area you should have/provide parking options for guests leaving their car for less than an hour. Charging $10 for less than an hour is a bit excessive.

Room was nice & friendly staff. There was a double payment issue due to the travel agent we booked through...but Roberto went out of his way to make sure it was corrected. Will definitely stay here again!

It is a good area but they are currently building the main road

Extremely loud rooms. Pipes make noise and you can hear everything anyone says around you. Was woken up at 6 am by the water pipes. I've stayed in plenty of places and never heard pipes like that. Decent location right near Ace Cafe.

Great place to stay, staff is friendly & very welcoming. Place is incredibly clean and well maintained will stay again.

Room was nicely appointed and restaurant was good as well. Free strong wifi.

Tons of road noise from the nearby highway. Other than that the hotel is nice

room and hotel was very nice, staff was not overly friendly or helpful. Hotel is in the middle of a bad part of town, have to drive to any decent restaurants, a downtown area with a park is about 5-10 minutes away.

No free Guest parking, but lobby was nice and clean and very friendly staff.

A good place to rest And you have the advantage to Rent a car

Stayed at this hotel for a business function. Accommodations are nice with large rooms. I was initially excited as the rooms have "balconies" but then disappointed when I realized that you are unable to go out for safety reasons. The doors simply open to a window. Staff is friendly and efficient. Location is close to downtown and just off I4. However, getting into and out of the parking lot can be a pain depending on what direction you are travelling.

Nice hotel. Overall a very clean and well staffed place to stay downtown. Exceptional shuttle driver who went out of his way to accommodate many requests. Room service has diverse and delicious menu options. The main reasons for not giving 5 stars were the expensive mediocre breakfast. The charges for overnight parking. But mostly the sub standard sheets. They were scratchy and didn't seem of very high quality... I would expect more from a luxury hotel.

Awesome eats, a pool, Jacuzzi, and friendly, helpful staff!

Went to a professional event for accounting students and had a chicken lunch in their ballroom it was very good

Nice & cozy hotel in the heart of Downtown Orlando, came to meet up w relatives from NY, great service from front desk and bar and the valet guys were awesome they made our stay great! Keep it up Crown Plaza, will visit back in the near future.

Ate at the bar. Bartender sat there and talked about how filthy restaurants are as I'm eating. Not exactly what you want to hear from the people serving you food.

The room was more of a fairly large one-bedroom apartment than a hotel room!

The design, the style, the cleanliness, the service. Absolutely everything checked 5 stars, and nothing disappointed.

From the staff at check-in, to the service and food at dinner, all the way to the room.

Beautiful room and bathroom. The shower was amazing!

Russel at the front, on our last nights stay was rude and lacked customer service. We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. On the first night we ordered room service, at 4pm the next day our room was not provided with cleaning service and our room service tray, dirty towel, glasses and sheets were still in place. I simply asked for clean towels, place the service tray outside and choose not to make a big deal given we were not provided the services we payed for. That very night upon entrance I collected 2 glasses from the breakfast area simply because ours were not replace due to lack of service. At this point Russell was very rude asking me what I was thinking and saying I was not very smart because that was a employee area. When asked where the signage was informing me I wasn t supposed to be in that area Russell told me again that I wasn t very smart and called security to bring me some cups.

I stayed over on a business trip. 10th Floor King bedroom. Decent sized room, nice bed, lounge area with an L-shaped couch. The hotel was quiet, and comfortable. Our staff interactions were great, from arrival, to check-in, to departure. The rooms are nicely appointed and tastefully decorated. Our room was clean. For our purposes the location was perfect. There are many nice restaurants within a 10-15 minute driving distance. Great experience!

Great facility and location right down town. Breakfast was only thing that I wouldn't do again. Was pretty bad

Wonderful experience at the Hotel. Staff was amazing and welcoming, I felt right at home. Very clean! The location was perfect for walking to the night life downtown. We will come again!
