Lots of history here. A lot of memrobilia and old planes parked right outside and on site. Great for a day out with friends and family, kids will love it. And everyone will learn something new.

Beautiful artwork and wonderful staff. Right next to science center and NHM. Makes a great trip
Great place to visit! I recommend anyone coming here because it's close to the Museum of Natural History and other great places
Very nice place. Plenty of parking . Great location not far from downtown. Nice atmosphere very educational resources inside.
I enjoy the exhibits here. I would visit more often if they had more frequent events. Parking is convenient if pricey. Great learning experience.
You have the chance to visit please take your children the art and history here is unreal
The Black silent film exhibit is amazing. 5 History of post slavery reality in 30 minutes. Great stories well done.
Great art as it was more art than history but it did cover CA African american history which was interesting. Loved the work of Ernie Barnes!
Great experience and excellent art exhibits. Staff was courteous and helpful.
I love the expansion plans for museum and the people are knowledgeable and friendly.
I visited the Adia Millett exhibit today 4/9/19 at around 11am and unfortunately the experience was completely ruined by an employee of the museum who was on Instagram watching loud videos with no headphones on his cellphone. When I entered the room I assumed he was a visitor. As I moved throughout the exhibit I noticed he had a badge on. He kept sighing like he wanted me to leave. I would suggest you hire people that have more respect for artists and patrons. The installation is an incredibly touching immersive experience that includes audio. The loud music coming from his cellphone was distracting and disrespectful to this amazing artists work!
The current show is a wonderful cross section of art, history, photo journalism and silent film. We were only able to see one of the films due to time constraints, but will most likely return. The history of racial bigotry in this country, this city of Los Angeles, is truly disturbing, but an important reminder and education. See this show!
I definitely learned a lot here. This museum focuses most on the slave trade in California which we definitely dont learn much about in school. Its also a free exhibit.
An amazing museum and community space. Visit 5heir website and follow them on social media to stay up to date with exhibits and community events.
Very educational, historical pictures, and also modern art
Very nice a little bit of history in this state and in this country so important for the racial struggle.
My first visit to the CAAM was really nice love the art
Today was my first time! Admission is free! What a cool place! A collection of art, culture and research in this building that is only getting better. You can see the development and how modern it is. The art pieces were amazing, very different and organized in rooms so you could encounter a new experience through each door you walked through.
It s a very colorful place, not too many docents walking around and had a serene yet vibrant vibe to the flow of the rooms as each one had a different experience to offer. I would definitely go back to see what they have to offer as time passes by, and I would love to see more interactive pieces or activities.
Deep exhibits that will educate you on African American history!
As someone who loves museums I must say the art here was dope. But the staff was trash. I was followed around and even followed by police/security. I would think a place like this would be a safe place but apparently not. I won't be returning. I rather pay money and be treated with respect. Than experience a free profiling session. If I want that I can just walk around my hood.
Terrific museum. All the exhibits are very different. Not all historical, also wonderful art from modern black artists.
Love it was there in a group from May fair adult day care to see the museum about church's in the pass about black religious singer's an preacher
Such beautiful art and culture. I could really feel the emotion and message of the art. Also the amazing history behind the art is so inspiring I hope I get to visit again soon.
Awesome CAAM event with great vibes and people. One, of the many needed, museums of specialized African-American/Black- American history....shining light on many buried truths.
Excellent exhibits and free theme nights with live DJs and food (have to pay for food).
Fun museum but definitely better for kids. At $35 for an adult, might be better to swing by on a free day. The exhibits are interesting but don't really feel well developed in terms of content and what's on display. With the Rainforest currently closed and the Planetarium shows being filled quickly, it feels sparse in terms of exhibits. Would recommend coming earlier to try and see as many Planetarium shows as they are a redeeming factor.
The exhibits of art were different. It was aldo well attended. I would differently recommend this show.
GREAT Ernie Barnes exhibit. Go see before its gone. Also a great interpretation of Charles White's wirk by other artists. This is a museum that should be visited on a regular basis.
The museum is free to enter and has a lot of nice art to see. It s worth your time to visit and see some beautiful art and learn some African American history.
Museum Party was Amazing 6/28/19 Time 7:P.M. to 11:P.M.
This is a great museum. The administration and staff do a wonderful job exhibiting the amazing art, culture and history of African Americans and the African diaspora in California and the American West. A fun place to volunteer as well.
It's a great little museum, and it's free admission.
Found this spot in between meetings on a work trip. It's a cultural oasis an there was an awesome exhibit up on Af-Am portrait artists. Definitely worth a visit!
Free entrance. Excellent art galleries and historical exhibitions on the history of African American people in LA.
Highly recommended. The space is really nice, they have kid activities.
This museum deserves a visit if you are in Exposition Park.
OMG If you're visiting Cali, this is a MUST stop on the To Do List! While I attended an event called Queens Fest, the exhibits were visually appealing and inspiring. There's also a science center as well. So it's family friendly
It was nice experience. Seeing exhibits that African Americans did with metal and other materials you find in the environment Loved the museum
I had a great experience during my visit! This museum is very well documented and staff is very knowledgeable and eager to answer your questions. A very good resource about African-American history, art and contributions.
Great museum. Well curated exhibits. Just wish it were larger with more things ro see.
Another of my favorite museums. This retrospective featured the iconic master Ernie Barnes. You gotta really look at the subtle yet dramatic messaging and muscularity in his works. in that boxing scene, what s the trainer saying to the corner manager. In thee lady walking, You can Sense the pride in both those shopping bags. And everyone knows the Marvin Gaye album cover - ok, everyone of that certain age.
Just went to see the special exhibit on slavery in California. Nothing i ever learned in school. Great documentation, stories, artifacts, movies, etc to see how it was established and then finally ended.
Other exhibits regarding the civil rights marches in the 1960's. Other halls with contemporary art exhibits. An amazing space.
We loved it! A great oppurtunity to educate my kids on that happened in 1992 riots. Natasha Harlins killing.
I learned more about the art work of African Americans. Amazing to see and definitely worth checking out.
Truthfully haven't gone inside yet im at tbe job fair for the Los Angeles Futbol Club in the building adjacent to museum. I do plan on attending soon though
Absolutely loved the Cross Colours: Black Fashion in the 20th Century exhibition!!
The artwork is great, but it's a little short. It's also free.
Parking fee should be lower and be better prepared for the larger crowd at a special event where you have people RSVP
Not your typical Museum. Mainly artwork (pictures). Visit is about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how in-depth you read each wall in each room. Impressive artwork.
Nice place to visit. Cleand and inviting. I liked the gospel exhibit.
You can read, hear, and see images, footage from events such as Rodney King beating, to riots to the 15 yr old shot by a Korean American and how that put a hardship on Korean American and African Americans. Many different stories.
The displays by the artists were really well done. Small place. I think it was free admission but not 100% sure about that.
This is my favorite museum in LA. Great place to learn about black history other than what is taught in schools. I love their Can't Stop, Won't Stop events.
This was an excellent opportunity to find out about just how active Blacks were in the forming/forge California !
Love this place very cultural, a little different from when I was a kid but overall still very educational & informational will visit again soon
Some very interesting pieces. I just wish there was more to it.
Beautiful experience. Ample parking but pricey. I will come back.
It was great to see the Nazi propaganda Olympics exhibition.
