Super experience.

Super experience.

I had come to see a match. I made a detour to see Endeavor.
I had as a bonus full of airplane, capsule, satellite, the Endeavor tank and others.
The interactive experience and accessibility to the youngest even the smallest out the place of the lot. I'll be back.
I would say more than that I come back to LA it will also be to bring my children.

Free for the whole museum, to see Endeavor $ 3 but worth it. As a bonus a great gift shop in the building.

Our school Angeles Workshop School goes on weekly field trips, and our students love visiting the California African American Museum at least once a year. The exhibits are always powerful, relevant, and engaging!

At the front desk they said that I could take pictures without a flash. A few moments later a older lady said I couldn't take pictures. Please have communication with people on that if it is so.

They accept student discount which is awesome. This place is located in a beautiful place. The Academy of Science has everything all in one and kids can be here for hours. It has a globe like rainforest system and below that is the aquarium. They have their exhibits like an earthquake simulation and a rooftop garden section.

The Ernie barnes experience was amazing. The colors in his paintings are vibrant and full of life. The detail brings each piece to life. Barnes body of work narrate the beauty of the African American experience from the 70's through the 90's.

We ve been only once, and while it s quite small I was impressed with the collection, the layout, the lighting and ambience. Free admission when we went, but if this is still true be sure to make a donation; it s worth it.

This is one of many hidden gems that Los Angeles has in it's midst. This museum is by donation and brings many interesting, historical, creative, educational, and inspirational exhibits for the public to see & experience. They also have classes, a book club, show films, have speakers and try to engage the public in the experiences/contributions of the descendants of Africa from all over the world. It's located in Exposition Park.

Surrounded by several other Museums and USC campuses. The Museum covers the History of slavery and migration routes, as well as other pictures and artifacts.
Unfortunately I did not get a chance to complete the entire selection of exhibits. Lots of reading.

Great collection of African American artists; including Henry Ossawa Tanner, Joseph Sims, James C. McMillan, Violet Fields, Dominique Moody. The staff were all knowledgeable and eager to answer any questions that I may have had.

This free museum is tucked into a corner of Exposition Park. Their rotating exhibits are fantastic. I just wish they had a permanent collection/exhibit on the African American history of Los Angeles and California- most people don't know anything about it.

This place is $15 just to walk around or $40 for every, definitely worth going to at least the $15.00. Dinosaurs bones everywhere upstairs downstairs. The African animals that are stuffed are very nice looking. The American stuffed animals are very informative and interesting. They have a nice place for children to learn. Great food downstairs in the back open area. But expensive if you are not careful, but the food is or felt organic. Enjoy it and bring your wallet.

Important community institution. At the same time, it's small, its curation is uneven, and amazingly it doesn't have a permanent exhibit either on the history of African Americans in LA or in California.

It was nice to see black history that wasn't based on slavery. It was nice to be able to look at the other side of black people and to see happy times and to see how we have influenced things that still stand up until today. The museum is free. There about four big rooms it might take about an hour and a half to go through all of them. There is art and even thing sewn with hair. Its so interesting.

I was able to visit the museum on a day when the artist was present to personally explain his favorite piece. I felt honored to gain such insight and learn about his thought process and goals. I took the time to explore all of the other exhibits and learn about my history as felt as seen through the eyes and filters of others.

I would have hated it 5 stars if not the old and archaic way of presentation. But.. it is a super important museum. If only some exhibits become more modern and accessible to young people..

It's free, first of all, and second of all, is filled with amazing art and exhibits that really make you think about race, expression, and politics. I especially enjoyed the Ease of Fiction exhibit featuring surreal illustrations from different African artists exploring reality and perception.

Great place of history... They do change the rooms now and again. My favorite was the la 93 riot. I was like.. Omg??? I saw this on tv with my dad then. And they have a terrific exhibit for martin luther king. No cafeteria there, but the california science center has food vendors and the natural history museum has a cafeteria in the basement (?) They are a nearby walk if you can walk 10-20 minutes depending on your speed of walking. There is paid-parking there. Also street signs if you decide where you want to go. Enjoy!
