Creta Maris Hotel Review

A beautiful hotel, a very large selection of meals. Service at a very high level.

We had an enjoyable holiday. Would we go back or recommend? Probably not.
1.The Staff: Excellent. Almost all the staff have friendly smiling faces and when we faced them with any issue they were able to offer a solution, with a smile. This makes a huge difference for any hotel guest and credit to the management for maintaining this level of quality service from almost everyone working in the hotel.
2. Pools, Beaches, Main Lobby: Excellent. Well kept, clean and generally very pleasant places to be.
3. Bars: Excellent. Good service from hard working staff. The main bar is close to the lobby and has a lovely balcony overlooking the main pool with quality wooden chairs and tables which are very comfortable.
4 . The drinks: Good generally but the wines are really disappointing, simple, most basic house wines. You wouldn't be expecting much more than that in an all-inclusive system. There are higher end wines (and drinks) available to purchase.
5. Beach: Very good. Coarse sand and clear blue sea. Beach sunbeds uncomfortable. Remember to bring your blue towel from your room as you cannot get towels at the pools, beach or gym. You can exchange wet towels for fresh ones in the main pool. Annoying on the first day but you appreciate how sensible this system is.
6. Sports and gym: passable. My son who is 15 used all the sports facilities including tennis, football, basketball. He enjoyed them. For me all the facilities were vey basic. Ok for recreation with the family but nothing more.
5. The rooms: Ok. Clean and basic. Bed not very comfortable. Shower in the bathtub wasn't great. All rooms are not equal. My advice would be don't have high expectations.
7. The food: Ok. Everyone will find something they can eat but its a massive resort catering for over a thousand people. Kids really enjoyed it. I can't say it gave me much joy. No fresh seafood. Fish was available but quite honestly they shouldn't bother serving it as it was terrible. Also no lamb dishes were found in the main dining restaurants either at lunch or dinner. Very disappointing! We did find lamb and fish available in the speciality restaurants that you need to book in the evening.
8. The restaurants: Poor. The main restaurant is really unpleasant. Stuck inside a huge indoor room filled with loads of people and buffet food. Not my idea of a holiday at all. Asides the main restaurant there are 5 or 6 of these alternative "thematic" restaurants that run a reservation system for dinner. The rule is not more than once in each of the thematic restaurants per week. Two of these such restaurants offered a pleasant enough dining experience although the food was still nothing special. The smaller, cosier feel, coupled with the a-la-carte menu provided a welcome break but as its still in the all-inclusive system there's no lingering over a long meal late into the evening. For lunch and breakfast there are two huge buffet restaurants - not very pleasant although the staff are fantastic. There is a smaller buffet restaurant open for lunch and breakfast (in the evening it becomes one of the thematic dinner restaurants) with a small outdoor eating area. This was a more pleasant option for breakfast and lunch versus the main masses indoor buffets. Special mention to the team at the Pithos restaurant who went out of their way to accommodate us. They worked as a great team and another good example of the quality of the people working in the resort.
Overall we had a good holiday and if not for the restaurants, would possibly consider returning.

Beautiful hotel area, everywhere consistently nice friendly staff, good restaurants and bars, very good food, sanitary very clean overall very good service-all in all, great repeat potential in 2019 gladly again!

Beautiful resort, with so much to do, you can easily stay on site with plenty to keep you occupied, the open air cinema is brilliant , food variety good, and drink options very varied.

Amazing hotel. A fun family experience.
General: The hotel area is like a small town. From end to end you can walk 10-15 minutes. Most of the area is built like pastoral houses made of stone of the Mediterranean basin. Among them is amazingly designed vegetation. There are endless places and attractions that you are not sure you will have time to discover and experience all of.
Food: Here redefined the concept of all-inclusive, including the minibar in the bedroom. There is free food and drink from morning to night. Absolute vodka, unlimited wine and draft beer. The food itself is delicious on levels. No kosher so allow bacon from morning to steaks with creamed potatoes in the evening. At least 5 different restaurants. Two dining rooms. 11 pools we counted and next to each pool there is a snack bar with food and drink. Free ice cream for kids. There is almost no queue anywhere. You can have lunch by the pools. Delicious hamburger, sausage in a bun, kebab, pizzas. Everything is of a high standard and very tasty.
There is an Italian, Greek restaurant, BBQ and more. Every restaurant needs to book a place a day in advance and the food is very varied and delicious. The service in the restaurants is excellent and the waiters are nice and courteous.
Children's Activities:
There is a large water park, including a variety of slides and also two complexes for small children. There is no queue for any slide, everything is running. There are some lifeguards watching over what is happening. There are beds, chairs and umbrellas all around. And parents can also sit aside on chairs with tables and order themselves a free beer or coffee.

There is a playroom for children up to the age of 12: it has computer corners, art drawing, Lego and more. Adjacent to it is a small playground with slides and bimbos. The kids room is supervised with some nice facts. You can leave the children with the guide and leave them an Israeli phone number. For all intents and purposes, the instructors call your phone directly. The room is closed from the inside and can only be entered with a buzzer. All windows of course can be seen from the outside. Inside there is a high open button that children will not be able to accidentally exit. Each entry and exit from the room requires the signature of the adult in charge of the child. Very impressive and gives confidence to leave the little ones there. Problem, active until 17: 30-18: 00.

There is a playroom from the age of 12: it has a play station and all kinds of games for children. Every so often the instructor takes the children out for various outdoor activities and water.

There are two rooms video games for a fee.

The main problem with the kids is an activity after 6pm. If they are finished from the activity of the day then eat dinner and go to sleep. Otherwise there is really nothing to do with them other than the paid video games.

There are shows and movie screenings every night, we did not check it out.

Spa: There is a spa with massages and everything, but prices are insane. They give a 15-minute voucher for a free massage and build on that you will extend it to a 45-60-minute massage.

Sports: Apart from the huge place that you can walk along and across an entire day, there is a well-equipped gym. One room which is weights and facilities and one room which is running facilities, bicycles etc ...
There is a small indoor swimming pool, there is a Jacuzzi in the corner of the pool but its temperature is 29 degrees because it is connected to the water of the pool. There is a hot tub and a wet, dry sauna.
There are soccer, tennis and golf courses we have not visited. And there are all kinds of water activities during the day.
Beach: There is a private beach of the hotel, fully equipped and renovated. Free drinks of course include alcohol.

Bedrooms: tidy and clean. Look like in the pictures. Just missing racks and in the shower a little missing racks and surfaces to put things. The sink is really nice but not comfortable because it is like a big, flat bowl. Everything squirts out and it is not convenient to wash swimwear in it and every single thing a squirt squirts to the sides.
The TV in the room broadcasts mostly German, but the kids found a Nickelodeon channel in German and got along with it beautifully.

Overall an amazing experience at a very high level. It is highly recommended.

Fantastic resort well connected to the whole island. Well-appointed rooms with balcony, large bathroom with every comfort. Friendly and helpful staff with 10 help desk praise. The resort offers several thematic restaurants including Cretan, Italian, Greek and BBQ. Excellent international animation while the Italian one is just enough. I recommend moving from the main pool if you want to spend some quiet time.

If you come to relax, opt for the bungalows otherwise you will be near the main pool rather lively (music at the bottom of the day) and family. Side bungalows pools are quieter. Similarly for the beach, there is a small cove very charming. This avoids ending up on deckchairs in rows of onions. In short to you to concoct the holidays according to your desires. The resort is big enough to find what suits you

A large resort with all facilities: mini shop, souvenir shop, spa, cinema, games room, children's playgrounds, fitness room, summer theater, darts, volleyball, tennis, mini football, club, terraces, parking, chapel, rent a car, beach bar where you can serve snacks, fruits and drinks. They have 6 restaurants, one central where all 3 meals can be served daily and others where reservations must be made. In each of them you will find interesting dishes, each with a different specific, be it Cretan, Italian, Barbeque, Greek. The barbeque is more elegant, being located on the beach and the grill dishes are tasty.
Recommended place to go with children, have animators, at the central restaurant the area for children, equipped with child seats prepared for them, microwave for heating food.
Large rooms, I had a cot for the child, sea view. We had a great experience with the girls who take care of the photos that made us stay with a beautiful souvenir photo shoot and some very nice pictures.
Private beach with sunbeds plus swimming pools, one of them being covered. Daily activities are organized by the pool, sports competitions, aerobics. Ideal place for families with children.

Very big and a lot of excitement. We were just visiting, was enough for me. Nice beach, clean area. Balcony without umbrella and drying rack, would bother me. Food was good.

I am currently a guest of the hotel and I have never seen a place with all staff (reception, waiters, bartenders quote hara -great bar on the beach, and today's kindness and Jorgo Giannig) short, I do not remember all the names but fantastic they do everything to satisfy you. The nice comfortable and spotless rooms in short, what to say? I will recommend this place to everyone Grz to my son for a great Christmas gift !!! Antonietta cotugno

It is a bit pricey, but if you are all inclusive Bay the food selection is so huge, that man within a week can not try everything. In addition there is the children can occupy the whole day z.b. the water slide park and do not bother the adults. In general, a perfect vacation destination.

A huge complex, beautifully maintained, excellent staff, great food and adequate entertainment for everyone. Hard to fault this resort although the surrounding town leaves much to be desired for the older generation.

Beautiful location, good food. Some of the restaurants were without air conditioning. Also the air conditioning in the room was week. We ordered a double bed and they gave us twin beds and then put a big mattress on top of them. As a result the bed was really uncomfortable.

A super nice area, very clean. The staff always friendly and courteous and helpful.
The rooms are made very tidy and very clean every day, even the bed is freshly made every day.
Towels for the pool or beach chairs can be taken daily. Sufficient loungers and umbrellas are available.
The food ... in the main building is, as usual, a self-service dining room with a rich selection. There are also several restaurants spread across the site, where you can reserve once a week and eat a'la card. Hard to imagine that you should not find what you are looking for with this oversupply of delicacies ..... If you can't find anything here, you should stay at home. This is my opinion.

Superb hotel, built like a small village. Very good food. Large room, clean, with terrace overlooking the garden of olive trees. Friendly and warm staff. Beach close to. Several pools with a party for children. We are very happy with this stay. We recommend !

Located at the seaside, the complex is like a village, with restaurants, swimming pools, cats. He met our requirements perfectly.

Our best stay in Crete
We are pleased. A luxury establishment both in terms of infrastructure and staff which makes it a 5 star.
We were in a deluxe garden / mountain view room.
Very serious Covid-19 protocol. Yes, cleaning is not done every day due to the covid protocol but the bins are emptied every day, large bottles of water offered every day and via the hotel application or by calling room service you can ask for clean towels and whatever else you need. The maids are adorable and very caring.
The food is excellent. The main restaurant offers a wide choice and quality products for all inclusive is really good.
The waiters are at the cleat to set tables and clear and clean.
The bars also offer quality drinks for all inclusive cocktails, non-alcoholic alcohol, hot drinks are quality.
The only negative point is the hassle of finding 1 deckchair on the beach or by the pools.
Due to Covid-19, they have removed deckchairs, which is normal to maintain their distance, however hotel customers grab the deckchairs from 7 a.m., reserve them by posting their towels even though they are sometimes absent from hours.
This selfish behavior of customers despite the ban on reserving sunbeds is the only downside.
The hotel staff are so helpful that they fail to enforce this rule.
The almyra and pythos a la carte restaurants are excellent. Bistronomic or even gastronomic level for certain dishes.
Just book 1 day in advance on the hotel app.
The hotel Spa is worth it. High quality products similar to a Nuxe Spa and massages delivered by professionals.
What more can be said ?

For me every part of the hotel complex has been thought about not just the areas visible. All the staff amazing, welcoming and accomodating. Special mention to Popi in Steki Bar and Markos Myklanos in Cosmos Restaurant 10/10.

The service and attitude are excellent,
The food is all inclusive, and of course that's why the food was reasonable, I would not build to relish the meals, even though for the family it is satisfying. There are also cool water slides.

A really great hotel !! I highly recommend it. The rooms were great, a good size and with a view. The staff was always friendly. The food was delicious !! So much choice and everything fresh. The pools were clean and there were lots of pools. The complex was also very well maintained. The evening program was unbeatable, what we laughed about. You have come up with something. We missed some music in the evening when we had a drink after the evening program. But you are served with the drinks. Unfortunately, the gym costs extra, which disappointed me a bit. But these are only small things and therefore still 5 stars .

What a wonderful hotel! All inclusive, great food, great amenities. The rooms in the main building are great and the bungalows are even better! 2nd year here and more will come!

Great experience! The staff go above and beyond to help you, especially with food allergies. Speaking of the food, it's very good especially the BBQ.
Everything is clean and well maintained, wonderful beach side view. The cats are also very cute addition, they love the attention from visitors.

L. Hotel is very quiet ... A little paradise!

A true five star resort which is located on a private beach and has a new water park (June 2019), many pools, playgrounds and games areas. There are 5 restaurants: regular, Greek, Mediterranean, Italian, grill... The food variety is vast and delicious. There are many activities, both for kids and adults, all round the day and evening, except Sundays. A free WiFi everywhere, with about 30mbps. There is a private parking place, although occupied most of the evenings. We had a great time!

Positive:
- large and well-kept complex
- many job opportunities
- direct connection to the beach
- clean beach and pool
- various themed restaurants

Less positive:
- At first they wanted to offer us another room, which in my opinion was significantly worse
- cleanliness in the room
- Staff at the various bars are often unfriendly
- The buffet is too monotonous
- Insufficient food on departure (3:50 a.m.)
- Minibar in the room was not refilled

Conclusion:
All in all, the hotel is recommended. But I wouldn't book the hotel again.

Really beautiful resort. It s big, make no mistake. But offers everything: good restaurant(s) (there are multiple to choose from), a Hammam/Spa, sport facilities and direct beach access. Other beach stores and a harbour are a stroll on the beach away.
The best part about the hotel are the bungalows. Really beautiful with olive, orange and lemon trees in between. Just relax on one of the typical Greek blue chairs.

Really a good hotel there is always good and fresh food all the people are very nice but if you want to walk into the city you have to go to a huge hotel past the road but otherwise the holiday was well worth it

Hotel full of hidden resources.
Very large, there are spaces where you can bathe everywhere in the hotel, space for sports and pleasant walks in the hotel where we have the feeling of being in a small Greek village.
We spent a week at the top.
The staff is always very attentive.
Near hersonissos at 5mn feet.
Everything is there for lovers and families.

Very good. We really liked. The hotel is really big. A concept ... Once there is everything you need and you will not miss anything. We'll come back.

The hotel is of a good standard, which in my opinion would be more like a 4 star hotel.

Our room looked a bit old, which I personally didn't find disturbing, as everything was kept in good shape and the inventory was looked after.
It was rather the cleanliness that was lacking on arrival. In our room we got dirt such as Dust, hair, fingernails found on the floor. That shouldn't happen in any hotel and certainly not in a 5-star hotel!
We arrived at the hotel at around 10 a.m. and were able to move into the room before the official check-in time shortly before 2 p.m. Because of our night flight, we were pretty tired. In order to avoid waiting for another room or cleaning the current room again, we quickly carried out the rough cleaning of the floor ourselves. In order to finally be able to shower and rest for an hour, we didn't complain about the room to the reception. There was nothing wrong with the subsequent cleaning every 3 days (Corona).

The food is always fresh and tasty, but in my opinion not quite appropriate for a 5 star hotel.
Breakfast is basically the same every day. Personally, I lacked variety, choice and individuality. When asked, the chef explained to us that they place great value on products from the island itself. I think that's very good. Nevertheless, one would have to deal more with the guest with e.g. individually prepared egg dishes, waffles, etc. In my opinion, this would also be feasible in times of Corona.

The waiters are attentive and committed, but each time you have to ask for salt and pepper, which is then brought to the table in small sachets (like sugar). Salt and pepper shakers were removed from the tables due to corona measures. What we absolutely understand. But we would have been happy if the salt and pepper bags were available at the buffet at this point and you don't have to ask the waiters at the table about them.



In the off-season and with Corona requirements, the number of loungers was halved. But you always found a place. Nevertheless, the classic, many loungers are already occupied from 8 a.m.

The nice, well-kept area with direct access to the beach should be positively highlighted.
Recycling and environmental protection are also important, for example biodegradable drinking straws or water from glass carafes at the table.

Conclusion: For me personally a hotel that is rather overrated for 5 stars, 4 stars are absolutely fair.
