to be honest with you, this school system has all the room in the world for improvement. if they have enough room to stomach the hatred for human emotions, disrespectfullness, and the overall care for any of the students that go there! the classrooms are drab and lifeless, the day needs more flavor, and speaking of flavor, what on earth is up with the lunches here! last school year the whole 3rd grade lost what poor excuse for lunch they had all in a line because they ate pizza! below is a list of bad lunches served at this school.
1. pizza
2. chicken legs
3. hot dogs
4. burgers
5. c.e.o (cheesy(not the good kind)egg (what's supposed to be)omelett.
6. hashbrowns
7. worst...well, 2nd worst lunch of all...biscuits! :{
i mean, seriously. who on earth thought of the biscuits!
they have no taste!
and number 2! i have a problem with the milk! they used to give us strawberry, vanilla, and chocolate milk, but now they don't!
for now that's all i have to say, but keep this as food for thought. maybe as a reminder to do better next school year!

My son has attended Crescent Academy since Preschool. He will be entering the First Grade this fall. We moved to Eastpointe a few months ago. There is a school three short blocks from our home. I refuse to enroll him in any other school, but Crescent. It takes me 45 minutes to get my baby to school every morning. It wasn't a second thought! This school is very organized! The teachers are hands-on. Even the teachers in other classrooms know my baby's name. They take the time with each student. I try to volunteer as much as possible. I am so thankful I found a school for my son that is everything he needs.

The Kindergarten program is great, I love that the 4 and 5 yr olds are separate from all others, and the teachers seem to care. The middle school sucks, It is like a warehouse for kids. The teachers lack control of the school. And they also lack engagement with the curriculum and not really setting this location apart as an environment to learn. The teacher population does not reflect the student population. My son reports out everyday that this is a pointless educational system and his days are filled with nothingness and unproductivity. This is a kid that spent his years in Detroit Country Day with a A- average. Their creed does not match what is really happening

You are doing your child a disservice by sending them here. Anywhere is better. Remember - this is a FOR PROFIT school - and this charter exemplifies everything wrong with charters. I am not a charter hater, there are some great ones out there that fill a need. This is not one of them. I was here for two weeks before I realized what a mess this place is. They do not care about education, just the bottom line.

I would not recommend this school to any parent or prospective teacher. The middle school has one set of broken laptops and zero technology in the classrooms with the exception of overhead projectors and teacher-purchased electronics. Also, students only receive art and gym and no other specials. Spanish is an online computer program. A high teacher turnover rate means that teachers come and go every school year and students are then placed with new teachers or long-term subs.

Teachers are overworked and there is a lack of consistency in most policies and procedures, as well as minimal prep time. There is also an inequity in teacher and administrative expectations due to a high volume of upper administration hiring close friends and family.

Students who physically fight are still asked back to the district even though they may pose a potential threat to other students. This school's focus is on numbers and enrollment rather than on academic integrity.

There is not enough time or Internet for me to post my issues and problems with the school. And now my child has been gone from this school for 2 years & I'm STILL getting attendance calls!! Does this mean that they still have her on their rolls?

My child has attended Crescent Academy since Kindergarten I absolutely loved the school up until this year! My child has been bullied by an older child there and has also had money and her school supplies stolen and I was told by the administration "kids will be kids"... I come to the school the kids are rude pushing each other and some middle school children are hugging and kissing on each other... The straw that broke the camel's back was that my child was told by a faculty member that her class would have to each lunch on the floor because "that's where trash belongs"...Hmm ... Aren't the children our future ? Are you referring to our children as trash ? Well they have officially lost a parent who spoke highly of the school and their superintendent Cherise Cupidore who is absolutely AMAZING but these recent events have made me change my mind about the school completely. There is absolutely no come back to referring to my child as trash!!

I love Crescent Academy!!! My daughter started here in Kindergarten and now she's in the 8th grade getting ready for high school. The staff is very friendly treat our children like they're one of their own child. My daughter doesn't have to worry about the want to be grown men/women fighting over dumb stuff. Of you're not a Crescent parent you should become one.

I love crescent academy! They offer so much for the children and they really care about their education.. My son had issues with his reading at the beginning of the school year. They noticed and placed him in different programs then tested him again at the end of the year and found that he had improved tremendously!

I currently have 2 children that attend the Pre-K program. I didn't see a separate listing for that location, I think its important to talk about the school system as a whole because my decision to send them to the pre-k campus was somewhat based on some of general reviews I read. I have nothing but good things to say about the pre-k program and its because of the dedication, skillset and competency of the teachers and staff that I personally experienced, that I would be willing to enroll my children in the kindergarten program. The responsibility to educate our children is a collective effort on the part of parents, teachers, administrators, and the elected officials who rally for programs like these. As a parent, I want nothing but the best for my children. And if challenges occur, and they will, I want to know that they are surrounded by caring and qualified individuals who are capable of steering them down the correct path; whether it pertains to writing, reading, problem solving, reasoning, and socialization. This type of partnership is paramount in building a lasting foundation and setting expectations for adults as well as children.
In addition, pre-k offered a workshop designed to engage parents and provide tools to help reinforce learning at home. The only problem I could see was that out of over 100 students, less than 10 parents participated in this program on a regular basis. But despite the low number of parent participation, the school still offered the program. Wow.
I have only good things to say. I wish that I could name all of the individuals who regularly play a role in my children's development but there isn't enough room. And I wouldn't want to discredit anyone else's experience just because it didn't mirror mine. But I can say that life often times gives you back what you put into it. Stop the teachers and the assistants. Talk with them. Ask them their opinions. Ask them for feedback on how you can better work with your child at home. Stay in their faces. Care about them. They care about your child. Engage in the process and set your expectations high so that you can make a solid choice for your child's future.

As a former teacher, I wish I could give negative stars to rate this school. Most students use their cell phones in class, moms call their daughters in the middle of the class. There is no hall monitoring, students enter a class to talk to their friends as they please; a teacher's purse was stolen out of her class because of this lack of supervision. When a problem arises and a student is sent to the office, the principal sends him or her right back to that class. The principal does not care if the students' standardized scores improve. All she cares about are teachers who give easy A 's and B's in order to keep the parents happy.
