I m happy to share that he has fallen in love with Creative Action camps! He has made friends, art and movies. The Creative Action Staff has welcomed him with wide open arms and supported him since day one. We love Creative Action Camps and look forward to many more summers with their incredible programs!

Creative Action: Empowering Central Texas Youth through Arts-Based Learning Programs

Creative Action is a nonprofit organization that has been providing innovative and engaging arts-based learning programs for Central Texas youth since 1997. The organization's mission is to use the power of creativity to inspire and empower young people, helping them develop critical life skills such as communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and self-expression.

At Creative Action, the focus is on using the arts as a tool for social change. The organization believes that every child deserves access to high-quality arts education regardless of their background or socioeconomic status. Through its various programs and initiatives, Creative Action aims to create a more equitable society where all young people have the opportunity to thrive.

One of the key strengths of Creative Action is its ability to tailor its programs to meet the unique needs of each community it serves. Whether working with schools, community centers or other organizations in Austin and surrounding areas, Creative Action's team of experienced teaching artists work closely with local partners to design programs that are culturally relevant and responsive.

The organization offers a wide range of creative learning opportunities for children from pre-K through high school. These include after-school classes in visual art, theater, music production; summer camps; in-school residencies; professional development workshops for educators; family events; and much more.

One program that stands out is Changing Lives Youth Theatre Ensemble (CLYTE), which provides an intensive theater experience for underserved youth ages 14-20 who are interested in pursuing careers in performing arts. CLYTE participants receive training from professional actors/directors/writers/choreographers/musicians over several months before presenting their original productions at local theaters.

Another program worth mentioning is Color Squad – an initiative aimed at empowering young women by providing them with leadership opportunities through mural painting projects around Austin area schools & communities.

Creative Action also runs several initiatives focused on promoting social-emotional learning (SEL) among students. These include Mindful Me sessions which teach mindfulness techniques like breathing exercises & meditation practices designed specifically for kids aged 5-11 years old; SEL curriculum integration into classroom instruction across multiple subjects like math/science/reading/language arts/social studies etc.; Restorative Justice Circles – facilitated conversations between students who have experienced conflict or harm within school environment aimed at repairing relationships & building empathy among peers involved.

In addition to these core programs mentioned above, Creative Action also partners with other organizations throughout Central Texas region on various collaborative projects aimed at promoting equity & inclusion through creative expression such as Amplify Austin Day - an annual fundraising event supporting hundreds of nonprofits across Greater Austin area including Creative action itself!
