Simpily the best burgers, fries, and milkshakes in the Palouse. I don't generally eat fast food, but I visit the Cougar Country just about everytime I'm in Pullman. I was really sad when they closed in February 2019, but I'm looking forward to the reopening!

I ordered a burger and loved it. Was pricey but kinda worth it. However my significant other paid 6 dollars for a sandwich and Au Jue and it wasn't even the size of his hand. I will never come here again. Rip off.

This evening I went to WSU Cougar favorite for a bite to eat. They were incredibly busy but I got my order just as I asked for it. The chicken sandwich had tender chicken. The onion rings were delicious. They have a dipping sauce called fry sauce and it makes everything better! It's not cheap like other fast food restaurants but the extra money stays local and it is quality food for which you are paying. If in Pullman plan on stopping at Cougar Country.

No clean tables. Order took 30 minutes only to be wrong. Had to ask for part of order since the window attendant did not complete it before calling it as up. Then humiliated while she finally checked the order ticket to find the mistake. No apology just a smirk!

I really enjoyed the atmosphere in there and the food was good. My favorite was definitely the fry sauce. I didn t go in before it closed so I m not a good reference for how the quality is compared to now but I can say that it is still a Palouse staple. The only thing is that the pricing is a little over kill. $11 for a small burger and crinkle cut fries plus tip? Kind of expensive for a late night munch.

2 stars. Since new ownership it is very sloppy. Went today and there is only one line open even with the drive thru closed and I counted 9 employees on the floor and my order was wrong and my frys were cold. Use to be my favorite place to eat with my family. I'll give it one more try. I'm hoping I can ad good things to my review from my next and hopefully not my last visit.

It's different than it was under the old management, but so much is better. At least once a week I take my son out on a drive, and we always stop for ice cream cones. I've never had bad service, and the one way I measure every business, the cleanliness of their bathrooms, very clean and tidy.

Heard it was back in business, checked the website, said it closed at 10:30 so I went down around 5:50 and got turned away saying they were closed. If they want to close before most people eat dinner I guess that's fine, but they should at least update their website to be accurate. It's not like a restaurant closing before 6 is something that's often assumed.

Best burgers in town. Excellent fish and chips, and good clam chowder. Lowered to 2 stars because the quality has gone down with new management, and they have decided to add a surcharge if you use a debit card. Are you kidding me?!? It's the 21st century! Everyone uses debit cards! Crazy counter-productive move.

Great local tradition. Its much better than a fast food burger joint but its still a burger joint. Get the super basket if you're really hungry. Its their signature sandwich. The patty melt is good too.

Cougar Country Drive-In is a Wazzu tradition! If this is your first trip to The Palouse region and Pullman then don't miss out on a Super Basket w/fries! The iconic staple of local faces and a very vocal reader board sign makes this a necessary destination for any hungry travelers looking for an unforgettable burger!

Awful. The grilled chicken sandwich was SOAKED in Mayo. Both sides of the bun. We waited in the lobby for at least 25 mins. Food was bland and expensive. Only thing I would get from there would be ice cream. Nothing else.

I've been consistently disappointed by Cougar Coun...

I've been consistently disappointed by Cougar Country recently... I'm a longtime local and a long time fan. I've seen the diner go through many ups and downs, through which I've been patient and always willing to go. From the flood to closing, and now the pandemic, my chances of getting satisfying and enjoyable food have been high in the past. But recently, I've had disappointment after disappointment from rude and confused employees, to order mix-ups and flavorless burgers. Even at non-peak times, wait times are almost always over 20 mins in the drive thru, but I've been willing to try again... and again... and again. Like I said, most of the time, the food was worth it (shout-out to the cub burger with bacon and cheese!).

But tonight was the biggest let down from Cougar Country in a long time. After the expected 20+ minute wait in the car (while the dining room was empty), we finally got our food. Happy to finally eat, we anticipated good food. However, we were sad to find that the most of the meal was not good to eat... The fish was dry, overcooked and mouth-scrappingly crunchy; the hot dog (which, btw was supposed to be a corn dog) was also dry and overcooked difficult to chew and the bun was cold and untoasted. With only one fry sauce, a distraught child with a sad hotdog, and no tartar for the painfully crispy fish, we ended up eating the fries, the toast from the fish and chips, and used our own dips.

One of us got a good meal tonight -- the burger was tasty! One out of three is good, right? ... I'm not so sure about that.

Not that this is the worst thing to complain about these days, it's just something of a disappointment especially when eating out is supposed to be a treat when times are tough. Compared to any other food for a comparable price in town, I don't feel like taking the risk any time again soon. If I'm going to spend over $25 on dinner from a drive thru, I should know that it's worth it. At the moment, there are better choices in town, and that's saying a lot. I'm sad to have to say it.

I love you guys! But... not right now.

New owner. They didn't change the menu board with what the correct prices were or what was actually offered there. For 3 people to have fries and a burger it was going to cost 60 dollars. We drove off.

Eaten here many a time over the years, though almost always take-out. Love their fish and shrimp baskets. Their burgers and buns are better than McDonalds. And their shakes, particularly huckleberry and pumpkin pie are the best.

Update 8/13/19 : Not surprising to anyone... but the Previous management / owner situation was less than optimal. However the new owners are great folks who also own another great restaurant in town. I can't wait for Cougar Country to open again!

Always been a good place for a quick bite to eat. Just returned after a while not eating here to find out they raised prices and now charge a 4% fee for a credit card... other fast food places in the area don t do this. Hopefully they figure out that in today s world not very many of us pack cash anymore. I personally find it annoying to wait for someone to figure out how to return change. Probably move cc way down the list for choices from now on.

Best burgers and fries in Pullman, fantastic shakes, nothing on the menu not to love! The only problem here is that the kitchen is really slow getting food out. I'm hoping that with new owners that might improve.

Everything is way too expensive for McDonald's quality food. The fries aren't even homemade, they're crinkle-cut frozen bag fries. They charged me almost a dollar to add two tomato slices to a burger. A burger with crinkle-cut fries came to $10.75. It's not worth what they're asking.

I have ALWAYS loved cougar country since attending WSU 20 years ago and it s always been a staple of our several visits each year when we come back and visit however since the new ownership it is TERRIBLY run. The cook staff takes random 15 minute breaks for being behind which then leaves a restaurant full of patrons waiting with no food. Sadly the iconic restaurant is understaffed and very poorly managed. Don t waste the time and find somewhere else to eat!
