Where to start? After so many bad experiences here under its old name we tried them again today under the new management to save a trip to a real hospital in Syracuse.
In the past my wife was labled by dr warts as having a sinus infection even though she had ZERO sinus symptoms. Instead she had a stomach ulcer. This was just one bad experience here.
I was hit by a tractor trailer on i81 while driving a minivan. They x rayed me, said I was fine - just take these muscle relaxers and rest. Mind you they gave me one at the hospital. Nurse said it takes a while to kick in I'll be fine to drive home. 40 min later i finally leave and soon as I got on road I realized I was not myself. I've never been high or intoxicated in my life so mayby it hit me hard but I couldn't drive well. No traffic so i drove slow to where I could sleep it off. Seriously they told me to drive home but the pill bottle and pharmacist said not to...

Today my wife waited for SEVEN HOURS to be told some bull bla, bla bla, see a specialist. My nursing wife was made to not eat, drink, or be able to nurse baby for 7 hours to get a few minues of bla bla.
If there was 0 stars this place would get it. Its better than Venezuela but its not up to American quality that's for sure.

I am very in tune with the hospital at large and usually give honest and good reviews..However not so tonight. We made an appointment for my son to see cardiology for an update on a benign type preexisting condition. So after weeks of waiting we finally get in and he gets 20 mins....and a well lets confirm your insurance and get an EKG? Well a simple review of the insurance and one would find it to be hospital domestic plan for employees...in short COVERED! Second I have gone to my RMP doc and had them done in office in just minutes no problem!! So I feel number one my son was slighted due to being younger which irks me but if they think I will pay a second co-pay for a job that could have and should have been done that day?? NOPE..I have to weigh options now but this is principle, I have used that office but this is ridiculous. When he first had it tested say like 5-7 years back at a specialist in Elmira for younger patients we had that all inside an hour, scan, ekg etc it was fascinating, 1 trip!! Sorry Cortland but this was not up to par....I do not like paying for the same real estate twice. The ball was dropped here.

My mother went to the ER after taking a bad fall down a flight of stairs. She repeatedly told them her pain level was at a ten. They took x-rays, said nothing was broken so she was being discharged (with her pain level still at a ten). They told her they could not give her any pain meds and to take Tylenol and Ibuprofen. We left feeling in complete disbelief from their lack of care. From there, we went to Wilson where they found 4 broken ribs (2 which were displaced), 2 compression fractures, and air bubbles on her lungs. Thank goodness, we went to another hospital. I just feel bad for those who are unable to travel or are stuck with Cortland Regional Medical Center. I am not one to post, but I feel this experience is worth sharing and reminding others to trust their gut and never feel bad about getting a second opinion.

The people in the ER are something special. Ive never been more scared of a situation, and the people that took care of me eased all of that. The Nurses, Doctors and people who took care of me post surgery were the best. Hospitals are scary for anyone, period. The people in the hospital make the difference, and these people truly did for me.

Got two stars because the nurses were lovely.

Got two stars because the nurses were lovely.
Waiting three hours for the results of a sonogram, not ideal. I was the only one in the waiting room, one of only a few back in the rooms.
Blood pressure cuff was not fitted, I ended up taking it off since it caused bruising and burst blood vessels in my arm. Went an entire hour with no one coming to to check on me.
Whether it s just understaffed or under trained visiting this hospital is an absolute waste of money.
Go to crouse instead worth the extra half hour..

Great nursing staff, but isn't that the way in most hospitals? Good thing they are on the way to financial ruin - maybe the acquiring hospital will have heard of something called GERMS, which leads to the need to STERILIZE instruments. Hey CRMC, are you listening? I know it's probably a bit complex for your tiny little brains. But thanks for trying to kill my wife with infection after you rammed what was apparently a rusty pipe coated with sepsis down her throat. She can mostly breathe & it should only be a few days until she can eat again.

Thanks for nothing you butchers.

I came in for treatment for a UTI. Got right in but was never asked my medical history, or current medication list. I was greeted by a very irate nurse who shoved a urine sample cup at me and told me to go to the toilet. He came in to the room to fetch said cup and was gone without telling me what s going on or anything. I get fitted with a blood pressure cuff that s not the right size for my arm. It squeezes so tight it bursts several blood vessels in my arm. Wait an hour. Tech comes in to replace cuff, which tightens two more times, now my arm looks like I ve had acuptuncture done to it. Burst blood vessels EVERYWHERE now. Doctor comes in and tells me I likely have a UTI. Duh. Leaves without asking my medical history or medications. Nurse comes in and asks if I m pregnant. Asks if I m allergic to anything. WRITES DOWN MY ANSWERS ON HER HAND!!!!! Still doesn t ask about current medications or medical history and leaves. I ve been waiting another hour for a urine test result and they said they would give me a pill before I leave. I don t trust them not to give me the wrong pill. Might have to go to urgent care. What a death trap this place is. DONT EVER COME HERE.

Hematology department appointment. Got there at 2:30 pm for scheduled 2:30 pm appointment. Board said Dr Elkins was on time. Proceeded to wait 35 mins to be called back. visit only took 5 mins. Then proceeded to wait another 15 mins after the doc visited for someone to come take blood. Everyone was friendly enough. But the wait times, sweet Jesus. Don't schedule an appointment here if you have any other pressing matters or a schedule to keep.

Hard to give a review because some staff are lovely but a lot of them are not nice and not very knowledgeable. I know a lot of people who would rather go anywhere else than here. Hopefully they improve in the future

Went in thinking I may have a blood clot in my leg, leg was swelling about double size, ultrasound tech spent 25 minutes searching and causing me horrible pain. He left the room and began talking about playing light sabers with his roommate. Emergency room doctor told me I had nothing wrong and pain must be from pulled muscle. Instructed me to go home and take Tylenol as well as ice my leg. Two days later foot and leg was turning black. Went to Upstate, ultrasound tech, within seconds, found an extremely large hematoma. Doctor was surprised Cortland found nothing. Some blood was extracted, doctor prescribed real pain meds. Pain and discomfort was relieved.

I was admitted and when I needed a nurse it took over 5 minutes since I pressed the call bell to get someone. I couldn t breathe and they wouldn t give me my inhaler until I puked all over the floor. I was in so much pain where I was infected and asked for an ice pack. It took over 72 hours to get an ice pack. It was hard to even get a drink there. They d forget- never bring it. That happened way too often.

Birthing at Cortland: 5 years ago there were plenty of nurses on duty and we were well cared for. In May 2016, this hospital was understaffed when I went into labor. All is well, my baby is fine, but if there had been a complication she would not be. The nurse who was in the room pulled a cord out of the wall calling for help to no avail. She caught our daughter (her first solo delivery) and about 5mins later other staff came in. While nothing went wrong, that is only luck. The staff has always been kind, but the administration is simply not scheduling enough people.

This place admitted me into the psychiatric unit for no reason. Forcefully sedated me, talked down on me. And now I gotta bill from collections saying I was there for 3 days, I was only there for one night. Will be calling billing tomorrow and raising hell. They never even sent me a bill and it went straight to collections. I will be going straight to my attorney about this place

NEVER EVER GO TO THIS HOSPITAL!!!!!!!!!!

NEVER EVER GO TO THIS HOSPITAL!!!!!!!!!!

My husband was in excruciating pain in his neck. I took him to this hospital Because of Covid and we wanted to stay away from the larger hospitals. They told him they needed to do a rectal exam. He refused it. They never touched him once to examine where his pain was in his neck. The doctor Told him that if they could solve back problems then Bill Gates would be his Butler. Gave him two drugs that interact with each other and aren t safe to take. They sent us on our way. I took him to a real hospital where they found that he had a herniated disc and needed emergency surgery.

Worst hospital ever! If o had to give all the reasons this post would go on for days. But they like to change IVs ect. with dirty gloves on. The same gloves they picked items off the floor with and the same gloves they scrolled through their dirty cellphone with and I am saying this because I watched it happen.

I was diagnosed with pinkeye when my eye was whiter than white! I spent two days putting ointment in my eye and it was getting worse. So, I went to my doctor today and I do not have pinkeye but rather an infection in my eyelid which needs oral antibiotics. Cortland ER rushed me through a short exam, and because of not being looked at thoroughly, they diagnosed me with something even I knew wasn t right!! Pinkeye with bright white eyes...duh! This is why I go to Cayuga Convenient Care normally, but it was late and they were closed!

Every time I go here, it's a bad experience. I think I've had one positive experience here. The nurses are always disrespectful and there is no communication. This is just a job to them, most of the people here don't actually care. They don't show sympathy and just give attitude.

The place to be if you have a serious issue and want a doctor that is unable to diagnose. Not to mention I am on the same insurance plan as my father/same coverage he goes to get a colonoscopy done in Utica pays a 50 dollar co-pay and that's the end of it. I get a colonoscopy done in Cortland pay the 50 dollar co-pay and then receive a bill for what my insurance company just informed me is the maximum amount by law that can be charged to me with my insurance plan. Will never recommend this place to anyone.

I wish I could give them less than 1 star. My step...

I wish I could give them less than 1 star. My step daughter and I were in a car accident. A village snow plow fish tailed and smashed into us. We were brought to Cortland hospital. We spent more time in the waiting room then in seeing the doctors. Once we did get in to see the doctor, we were both complaining of a headache, neck pain, back pain. I also had glass all over me, a cut on my elbow, and slight knee pain. The doctor came in felt my step daughters neck, felt my knee looked at my cut and said. You both have whiplash. I will clean the cut and glass off from you (since I had glass slivers all over my chest). He never took ex-rays or even looked at me and ended up discharging us before he cleaned the cut or glass. We were out of the office within 5 minutes. I didn't feel like waiting around to just be ignored more so I went home and cleaned it. I pulled out 3 pieces of glass from my cut. This was the absolute WORSE service I have ever had!!

I was in a car accident very early in the day was brought in by ambulance. Was told nothing broken.. basically to walk it off... initially they gave me a muscle relaxer and some pain meds.. after tests and scans they MADE me attempt to walk, mind u I have had a herniated disc l3 and l4 for pushing 30 years.. and it's all out of alignment at this time... but the kicker is my right ankle
. It is soooooo bruised I couldn't put weight on it..
So their idea of walking is 1 step and one attempt fyi (screamed when weight placed on right foot...) anyhow I was released waiting for medical transport... after 2 hours waiting for a cab the pain and spasms got to be so intense I went back in the er... I have long had mental illness diagnosis, I went in for pain relief and they put me on suicide watch.. omaa so I sat for another 7 hours. Sans pain meds with rude nurses telling me I did 2 walk.. then they released me again... waited hour plus for another taxi..
I had to crawl on all fours to get in my house.
Total bs. I'll be contacting patient advocate soon. I was informed they no longer give big pain meds due to the drug problem in that area.. I'm nearly 50 years old. I've never touched those things which they knew from my bloodwork. And still no...NEVER EVER CHOOSE GUTHRIE CORTLAND EMERGENCY. TAKE YOUR CHANCES AND GO ITHACA OR AUBURN OR SYRACUSE.
