Corcoran School is mainly focused on promoting the arts. Friends of mine who have attended the college have had both good and bad things to say based on their experiences. One of the pros of the school is the events and gallery showings that often take place within it's walls.

If you're a DC native, or city walker, you may want to check up on Corcoran and see what's going on from time to time.

Architecturally, the buildong is awe inspiring. I think it really captures your eyes. The exhibitions for the Lone Prairie, Breaking Cultural Boundaries, Cartoons and the Color exhibitions were interesting. They definitely were trying to tell a meaningful story. I think the cartoon exhibit was successfully set up, but the others needed more content and guidance to trully unfold. There's ton of space to work with in the building so it needed to be used effectively so it wouldn't feel empty

The Corcoran School of the Arts and Design is in the old Corcoran Museum flanking the Executive Building by the White House. It's centrally located in Washington, D.C and a beautiful space. It's in an old building set up like a museum making the school's art shows out of this world. There are spiraling staircases, courtyards and room after room of beautifully designed art. If you get invited to an event here, say yes!

The Corcoran Gallery of Art was an art museum in Washington, D.C. Prior to its closing, it was one of the oldest privately supported cultural institutions in the United States capital. Starting in 1890, a museum school, later known as the Corcoran College of Art + Design, co-existed with the gallery. The museum's main focus was American art. In 2014, after decades of financial problems, the Corcoran entered into an agreement with the National Gallery of Art (NGA) and the George Washington University whereby almost all of the gallery's 17,000 work collection was placed under the care of the NGA, while the school and historic 17th street gallery building continued operations as a part of the George Washington University's new Corcoran School of the Arts and Design.
