My family (two adults, two kids (6 & 4)) love this place. It is has both an outdoor and indoor museum and we enjoy them both. This summer we purchased an annual pass which makes it so much nicer - we can explore a little bit with each visit. This is some of what we have enjoyed (in no particular order):

- the Treetop Outpost - a three story outpost allowing you to view the area from the tops of the trees. my favorite part of this though is the 'basement' - not really a basement, but there is a level that goes down. And, all around the outpost are things to do - musical instruments, building, tents...

- The 1859 helium balloon - soar 3000 feet in the air above the park in the helium balloon. My son asked what happens if the balloon breaks free of it's tether. While it is very unlikely to happen, if it does the pilot has a way to fly the balloon - basically he can land it and said we may land in the next state :) (Note: this is an extra cost)

- Building and flying paper airplanes inside (we haven't done too much inside yet - saving that for the winter at this point)

- 1836 Prairie Town - this living museum is great where refrigerators and light bulbs do not exist!

- I have much more exploring to do and have done more listed here, but so far, it is all just so fun - I am going back sometime without the kids but with my camera - there are many many photo shots just longing for me to capture them!

This place is amazing!!! Went here with my mom, sister, niece, and nephew. We tried to accomplish as much as we could with their little legs, but this place is HUGE with SO MUCH to see. Great place for children AND adults! Interacting with the farm animals is so much fun. We loved how everyone stays in character too

Worked here for a short time in both the catering and food department. Where do I even start? First off, complete disorganization. A lot of young highschool or begginning college students who work these departments get thrown around in every direction and don't know what is going on half the time because no one tells them until last minute. So as a result there is procrastination. Communication is lacking as well. Management is bad with training, informing, supporting, and with behavior of taking out frustration on employees as if it's their fault. Real issue is there are no positive leaders. Each day I came in there were more noticeable and ridiculous issues that shouldn't happen. Especially because the Cafe there is way too small and is not getting good business. All in all, Conner Prairie is completely scattered and full of negative processes, results, and ideals. Out of all the places I have worked this one is by far the worst.

This is a great place to spend an afternoon... Rich in history, but in a way to get the kids interested and not bored! The staff is always super helpful and knowledgeable, things are clean, and overall, it's just a great place to go!

I attended the Beatles symphony on the prarie. Great venue. Plenty of snack stands and drinks available but it's even better if you brink a picnic with some wine. Also get there really early to get good seats.

This review is in regards to a Summer Camp refund. Summer camp is roughly 210-220 a week. In order to cancel a week and obtain a full refund, one must cancel at a minimum of 3 weeks in advance (there is also a $30 cancellation charge). I was 1 day off, and they still will not give me my money back. I have spent over $5000 in summer camps for about 5 years at this place, and I'm appalled that they will not give me this reimbursement because of 1 day. I understand that I was outside of the specified period of time. On top of that, the lady i spoke with was going to go right ahead with charging me that $30 cancellation fee, despite the fact that a.) my daughter wouldn't be going to the camp b.) I would not be receiving ANY of my money back..... So I asked her, "Why are you even going ahead with trying to charge me, if your not giving me any kind of reimbursement??" She just giggled. I said "forget about it." then hung up the phone.

I do want to add though that my daughter has had an amazing time in all of those years at summer camp. However, do to this upset and the repetitive nature of the weekly day camps, we will not be returning.

Amazing.. Amazing Place to take your family, especially kids. Very educational with reinactment done. Awesome workers dress to play the part of history that they are in. They allow kids to be hands on and a part of whats going on. They have a shaded place to eat and relax. A hill for kids to roll down and express themselves while using theor energy. There is an area where they can be a part of the army to shoot (wooden) guns. Lots of fun for the kids! I'd say children 10 and younger enjoy this place best. It's great for schools to take classes in groups. We had a great time there.

Conner Prairie offers an interesting variety of experiences, so you can enjoy it with kids of a variety of ages (or just adults). If you get the opportunity, you should definitely try the balloon ride. It is a worthwhile experience.

This place is a fantastic experience for kids and adults alike. It is constantly changing and growing. Not only are there wonderful historical stories to be told here, but there are also science experiments and stem-based learning to be had. I cannot recommend Conner Prairie highly enough.

I visited this place with my child on a field trip. I had never heard of it, which is a surprise. It's a hidden gem really close to home. Everything was done well and was appropriate for elementary and middle school ages. The people who were reenacting were fabulous and they provided a great look and feel for how life really was back then. My only wish was that we had more time to explore. That's a definite must-see for Indiana history education. I learned a lot myself.

Visiting Indy from Arizona this week and stumbled upon Conner Prairie when looking for a covered bridge to show the kids. We spent four hours here this afternoon and could have stayed longer. My kids (8, 5, 3) were completely engaged the whole time and learned a lot about frontiering and pioneering. Really great experience, highly recommend. Found a $3 off each admission coupon through TripAdvisor that helped with the entry fees.

One of the crown jewels of the state of Indiana. This living history museum brings 19th century life to a relevant understanding for 21st century living. We've been members for years and love taking family and friends to the museum when they visit Indianapolis because we know that this experience won't be replicated anywhere else. Look forward to seeing the past in a while new light.

Neat place to visit with kids. While I was there many baby animals had been born in the preceding weeks, so there were many babies on the farm. The interpreters do an excellent job of bringing history to life.

Saw the Beach Boys there on 8/4/17 they have a great natural amphitheatre you can see the whole stage from every seating area. As with most large venues getting in is quick, getting out takes a bit of time and patience as everyone else is leaving at the same time. Over all a very good evening.

I grew up in Fishers and I've been going to Conner Prairie since 1996... It's pretty awesome!

For kids, there are lots of hands-on, interactive and immersive ways to learn, both in the mini-museum and in the actual park itself. They have stuff that caters to all age groups, from toddlers to teens. Even as an adult it's pretty cool to walk around and be immersed in the 19th century! I think the coolest thing (personally) is talking to the craftsmen, like the potter or the blacksmith- they'll sit there and actually make something while they tell you all about it.

They also have lots of seasonal/after-hours events that are definitely worth going to. The Headless Horseman festival is THE BEST. They have a less scary version of the hayride earlier in the evening for the little kids and a more-intense one later at night... Both are kid-friendly though, there isn't any gore or seriously gross stuff on either version of the hayride. The later one is just scarier because it's dark and there are more people jumping out at you and so on. There's also a puppet show by Steven's Puppet's every year (that's a classic), a showing of the old Headless Horseman cartoon, and story tellers on the grounds to tell you ghost stories and local legends.Food and craft vendors are always there in droves, the kettle corn guy is my favorite! Lots of crafts and little-kid activities too.

I just recently went to Symphony on the Prairie for the first time and it was great! There's nothing better than picnicking in the open air with some choice music. The venue is clean and family-friendly, you can pack your own food or buy from the concessions/vendors.

The only negative thing I can think of: The actors used to be really committed in a sort of annoying way- like if you asked them, "How did you communicate before cell phones?" they would say, "I've never heard of a 'cell phone', what is that?" Now they'll just answer the question, which is better imho.... The pretending not to know about modern tech gimmick was funny when I was a child but it gets annoying. I'm trying to learn something, answer my question! Haha. But like I said, they don't really do that any more, so if you ask them any questions with reference to modern things they should just answer you.
