We played Connemara on a cool and sunny August day. The course is a links course with some photos ops of the Atlantic. The course design uses elevation change, shallow greens and the prevailing wind to create a true challenge. While the posted yardage is 6700+, the course plays shorter in winds of 10 mph or less.
Landing areas are generous with a few exceptions, but they have to be. The rough is almost invariably a full stroke penalty (if you are fortunate enough to find your ball) and the second cut is is about three feet wide. Greens as previously noted are shallow, run true and are medium speed. The course plays much easier from below the hole but the holes were usually at the front, especially on the elevated greens. Lots of blind and semiblind approach shots but the GPS yardages are spot on.
The pro shop is top shelf and the staff is friendly, outgoing and knowledgeable. The course was in excellent condition. The sand is sea sand, consistent and the best to play from I've experienced in a while. That's fortunate, because the traps are numerous and strategically positioned.
Connemara is a great golfing experience and in good weather makes my bucket list. A bargain at the price.

My wife and I played the course in May 2018. The cost was around 100 euro per person. Based on some of the other courses we played on the trip, we rate this golf experience very high. The course surroundings are somewhat rugged, but the course itself is very well kept. The views out over the Atlantic are spectacular. Some of the holes are very challenging, but others allow for some scoring for an average to slightly above average golfer. The staff was very friendly and courteous. The course is somewhat isolated, so it may require driving off the beaten path, but well worth it. Considering the cost of the course and our experience, we were very pleased with our decision to make the drive, and we encourage other golfers in the area to make the trip.

A wonderful Irish gem great links golf enjoyed this course as much as Ballybunion and Lahinch. Connemara is very scenic and I love the traditions evident through the clubhouse this course is a destination for golfers on Ireland not to missed.

Also found the nearby town of Clifden one if our favorite cities in our tour of Ireland. Great pubs and food. Really enjoyed our stay at Abbyglenn

Drove from Galway. Tight roads. Made tee time online from TEXAS. Rented clubs, good clubs but dirty. Walked, played by myself. Generous fairways, tough traps (1), good greens. Overall very nice. Wanted a true links style course....this is it.

What a golf course. Played here for the first time today. Lovely clubhouse and lunch before heading out. Course was simply spectacular and the views are hard to take in. One of the best days of golf I've experienced. All the staff very friendly too. Could not recommend enough.
