First off, to blast a business on search engines and social media is not my style, but I feel I need to warn you. My husband and I chose this hotel for our first visit to Puerto Rico and for a very over due honeymoon the week of May 14, 2017. Big mistake! The property is run down for the cost compared to much nicer and updated properties in the same area. Yes, the pools and bars and dining options are convenient, but way over priced and could use some work. But, the main reason for my 1 star was the guest service at the front desk and management. We arrived at 3 pm on a Sunday and were excited to check in and get our vacation started. Our room with all the surcharges and fees had been paid in full weeks in advance, but they require another $50 per night held on a card for incidentals. We were disappointed to learn that our bank had not processed our travel notification, and it kicked our card out. They assured us this is common, and also assured us we couldn't check in to our room, that was paid for, until the issue was fixed. Since it was Sunday, we learned we couldn't have it cleared until next business day. They came at us with a poor attitude as if we were vagrants or squatters and trying to stay in their room, again paid in full, for free. We pleaded with them to please just allow us to check into our room and we would pay the $250 first thing next day. Nope, not an option. We asked for the manager who had the same attitude, and he said "for $100 cash, you can check in for the night." We had $95 cash, our only money until the bank cleared. We explained this and the manager basically took our only money and we at least got to sleep in a bed, but with no food, water or anything for 24 hours when our card went through. We made the best of the rest of the vacation until the last night when we returned from dinner and found my phone in a pool of water that was leaking from the ceiling. After about 30 minutes, at 10pm, they rushed us out of the room and moved us to another room, where the lights didn't work and where now all my clothes were shoved in the suitcase with wet swimwear leaving me to fly home the next morning tired, angry, with a broken cell phone and wet wrinkled clothes. We address the situation with Hilton and after being passed around to 4 different departments and people, we were offered a $25 credit to stay in a Hilton. A ruined cell phone and a ruined honeymoon is only worth a $25 credit to Hilton, and the front desk and management staff at this hotel, could care less about providing paying customers with the help and respect they deserve. Don't waste your money, there are tons of air bnb options and smaller hotels for half the price and without the headache!
