Elf the Musical. Well done! Perfect casting of Buddy.
A delightful Greensboro institution and must-visit when shows are being staged. You'll appreciate the deep well of talent that exists in the Gate City when watching adults and kids alike exhibit their acting chops on the cozy stage. Their annual staging of "The Wizard of Oz" is an elaborately staged production, replete with live orchestra, flying rigs and plentiful special effects. Other programs include theatre workshops for young and old and other educationally focused programming. Mitchell Somers -- the director of CTG -- is a local legend and is the genius behind the team that brings this enterprise to life.
I was pleased to see the children from the community acting in Elf, Jr. What an wonderful local opportunity to participate in the arts!
It is a homey, small theater and great for intimate shows. It will appeal to anyone comfortable with old buildings and small town style to go with amateur theater. We've always enjoyed the show, and the performers do too.
Really enjoyed the play and spending time with my family.
Easy to find. Well taken care of and the acoustics were great.
Always great entertainment. Lots of very talented actors. Great venue.
A great small theater. I saw The Star-Spangled Girl a few years ago and Junie B. Jones last week at this theater. They were both excellent productions. Would definitely recommend for anyone who would like to see a play in an intimate setting.
Great little theater programs are well orchestrated
Seating was limited, but the performance was great. We have always enjoyed the shows we have seen.
The performance of Memphis was amazing. That really staff were super nice and helpful.
Saw a children's show. The music was very loud. Could not hear the students.
Great place for a date, great atmosphere, great staff and it's beautiful inside, if you're visiting North Carolina definitely check it out.
Had a wonderful time here and loved the performance! There are concessions here, but don t come hungry you ll be too excited to eat anyways. They have enough drink choices to quench your thirst. All of the actors and actresses are such hard workers and you can tell that their hearts are all in. Beautiful performances are coming out of this quaint theater. It s a must see for anyone and everyone! Highly recommend!
I wish I could give a real review. I bought tickets online because I had a good friend in the show. We (4 of us) arrived only to be told there was no record of my purchase. I had never been to this theater before. I didn't know that I should have recieved an email notice. There were three other people having the same problem. I'm very disappointed. I hope this issue gets worked out. I will be checking my credit card history when it arrives.
Enjoyed the experience. Play was phenomenal. What really felt great was the incredible sense of pride in our community, that there is so much talent in Greensboro and audiences that support and enjoy that talent. Bravo neighbors!
100%, awesome, so fun. Great for starters and anyone else. Go audition for CTG shows now!
Had a problem with on line reservation and did not get to see the show. Make sure you get confirmation. We were not the only one last night.
While the production I attended was not fully professional, it was a children's theatre performance, and as such directed and produced by high schoolers; I am sure that other productions in this theatre are more professional, and I am thankful that my community provides this as an opportunity for high schoolers and other grade schoolers to perform outside of school, particularly if they are home schooled or attend a school without a Drama department, such as The STEM Early College. Refreshments were provided at additional costs before the show and during intremission. The space was small, but that meant that no audience member would be unable to see or hear, and the cast members walking through the aisles during the performances had an excellent effect.
Great show and space. They also off a rental hall for parties weddi vs and so on
What a fun little theater! Definitely visit if there's an event you want to go to. :)
Nice little theater, good sightlines, very intimate. Climate control could use some work.
Took my 6 yr old to see Willy Wonka. Absolutely had a great time and will definitely be coming again for future plays that he may have an interest in.
A small space that puts on great shows! Concessions are sold here too.
Neat little place. It was our first visit and we watched Frozen Jr. The theater was much much smaller than we anticipated and the entrance was barely accommodating to the people leaving and the ones coming in. It's an old place, but they seem to be doing a good job with the resources available. They seem to have a great crew of talented people of all ages and we enjoyed the show. I'm docking a star because there's not enough info for people coming for the first time who are not familiar with the area. It took us 15 min to figure out where to park and where exactly the theater was. There weren't options to pay for parking on the spot, I couldn't use my phone and look for a credit card while sitting in the audience (no options to use PayPal) and we ended with a parking violation. Have I had the info beforehand, I could have paid online before leaving. I know this is not the theater's fault, I'm just saying it affects the overall experience and some information can be very helpful. Also, the attendants need to make some order during in-out transitions. In spite of these inconveniences, they had a fabulous performance (some amazing singing too!) so do go and see them. It will be a rewarding experience.
Great little venue to enjoy a show up close and personal!
The shows here are so wonderful to watch. I love that we have such a talented community theater group in our city. The theater itself is beautiful and in such a great spot downtown.
Tonight my best friend and I went to see Memphis. We had so much fun. It was a perfect end to a great day. Exceptional talented cast and Director. You can feel the enthusiasm of the cast. We chose this theater and we know we would not have had a better time at any other venue.
I've attended and enjoyed shows that are now a part of fond memories. I miss the in theater experience and look forward to attending again soon.
Took my daughter to see a production. Great people, very welcoming
My friend used this place for his birthday party. It was a beautiful choice.
CTG has something for everyone! It's always been a family tradition to see Wizard of Oz, and now with The Starr Theater we will have a full season of excitement! I would also encourage anyone with children to look into CTG's wonderful theatre education department.
Saw the play, " The Real Housewives Of Section 8" It was great. They need a refreshment stand and a bathroom that's easily accessible.
A great community theater! Just get your tickets in advance because the venue is small.
Just saw "Avenue Q" and didn't know what we were in for - you guys - we have an INCREDIBLE Community Theater - did you know?!
We had such a great time and I can't wait to come back for future shows. Small space, small company, and a BIG TIME. Highly recommend! So much talent!
I love this place I have just scheduled a party at this venue. And I cannot wait for the celebration.
Went there for a local production
Nice venue. Be careful going to the Women's restroom. There is a low angled ceiling that is in tje narrow hall leading there. ~Enjoy!
A friend and I attended a burlesque show at the theater. The theater was clean and had a lovely quaint atmosphere. The show was a joy, not parking was difficult to find and to get out of. There are so many bars and restaurants in the area, I believe I will not take Uber.
The musical was outstanding (Newsies) and the choreography was incredible. Hard to believe the cast was made up of high school and college kids!
