Although Community hospitals say that they are there for the patients that may be true inside the hospital, but not outside. They forget about the visitors and patients by having parking lots far away from the hospital. I saw a pregnant lady walking to her car in 108 degree weather to a parking lot across the street. The parking lot close to the hospital is small and contested.
They may have a parking valet service but during a pandemic, I am not sure some patients or visitors are going to feel comfortable strangers outside their household bubble driving their car.
Yes it is healthy to walk to your car, but it's unhealthy during high heat.
They have only 5 minute parking that is next to the hospital's outpatient and endoscopy entrances, which is ludicrous and should be 20 minute parking.
As for the main entrance no parking except for delivering
The outpatient parking lot is small due to landscaping. What's more important to a patient who is sick or a worrying visitor, landscape or parking?
The hospital's through fare road is used as a short cut by non-patient and non-vistors to get onto Herndon Avenue. These drivers drive fast through the hospital's through fare as it is a wide curve and has no speed bumps to slow these drivers. This through fare is not used by the emergency ambulances so speed bumps would be appropriate as patients and visitors cross this road from the large parking lot to the hospital entrances. There are no pedestrian flashing lights when patients and visitors cross utilizing the painted road pedestrian crossing. Additionally, the through fare is not visually street named with signs as it the hospital's private road.
Security is laxed. I have been here for an hour and 15 minutes have not seen a patrol vehicle in and around the parking lots. I have seen two patrol vehicles parked while the officer is sitting in the vehicle at the hospitals entrances. Vehicle theft, vandalism, drivers hitting other vehicles can happen, and more circulation is needed. If the officer is writing a report, that can be accomplished in the patrol vehicle parked in the middle of a parking lot. Watching the cameras is not going to deter vehicle theft but active patrolling is.
