With the government shut down i was not prepared to come home to nearly empty cupboards and no job to fill them with. The Food bank was very clean and orderly. We were given buzzers for when our number was up. (Like what you recieve at an upper end restaurant)Be prepared with a licence, proff of address and income, (but if you don't have these things, don't let that stop you, they work with you!) Be ready to wait at LEAST one to two hours or more! IT IS WELL WORTH THE WAIT! COME EARLY!
There was a cart prepared with cheerful and non judgemental help ready to direct us to shelves to choose 2-8 items off of. Items ranged from ground beef and pork loin and roast,(in the meat freezer section) to greek yougart and eggs and milk, to speggetti sauce, soups and chilli. Hearty and useful food, not just canned vegies. Fresh grapes and bananas and multiple shelves of breads and sweets.
Thank You to all who contribute and support your local food bank. I thought i would be made to feel like a welfare reject, but I came out feeling like a queen! They do more than distribute food, they distribute HOPE.

Allot of the food is really outdated. Food needs to be checked often. I have had food that was from days to months old. Not healthy at all. Stock must be rotated to remain safe to eat. Nothing more frustrating than bringing meat home that is expired, or a loaf of bread home that is moldy 2 days later. Not okay. Other than that, great people.

These people are nice they deal with a lot of homeless people and people that are on drugs there a little bit short with you but it's because they deal with so much during the day I'm sure if they can help you they will if they do everything by the book so be prepared with the documents you need and make sure you follow through with your commitments if you will plan on getting a week stay also if your LDS make sure you go through the transientbishop as the funding will be different the hotels that they put you up in our on 3rd South and in the homeless areas and Drug infested hotels with bed bugs so taking all that into account if you can deal with all that by all means go to Community Action to get a hotel otherwise I would just stick to the food which is usually a week old expired and moldy if you have no other option do it but please if you can try any other options

Well

The Spanish translator Dora Noguera is extremely rude and disrespectful to anyone that's American and speaks proper English. We need to stick together and tell our stories to the supervisor. Just because someone isn't the minority does not mean we deserve discriminative treatment. She uses her position to play power trips over races instead of caring about the paperwork, character and work ethic of the individual. It's determined solely on her attitude towards you as well as leaning towards favoring her particular race. It's not fair and nobody should feel that cruelty when they are struggling and giving their last bit of money and time to get to an appointment. Please share your experiences with this woman. I know I'm not alone.

Im so thankful and grateful for all the assistance I've received through out the years.
