I want to take this time to thank the wonderful staff at Columbus Hospital for helping me with a foot wound I never thought would heal. They were able to in house me with a plastic surgeon who would clean it weekly and would give me hyperbaric treatment. If it wasn't for Columbus Care I would've never thought I'd heal so quickly and well. Thank Columbus Care for dedicating yourself to helping me in my time of need.

I agree the 5 star "reviews" are paid or employees. Someone on a ventilator can't speak... My uncle was sent here after battling covid. Communication really dropped off on the weekends. It was struggle made worse with multiple family members contracting covid and being in different hospitals. Communication is key! Unfortunately he did not make it and the series of events that followed were outrageous. We were waiting on paperwork to be sent when the funeral home we contracted started getting nasty calls. Threatening to send my uncle s body to the county morgue if they did not pick him up. I called the hospital back and received the same threat stating he would only be allowed to stay 24 hours because they don t have proper refrigeration to store someone longer than that! I was then told I had until 5pm or another funeral home would be called to pick him up! What?!? Saying sorry for your loss is pretty empty when in the same conversation they threaten you. If this is a result of the staff being overwhelmed with Covid deaths, the hospital needs to get them help. Unacceptable. Also where are his personal items?? The funeral home did not receive them. I ve called and been told it would be looked for and yet no call back. The hospital who sent him there said it was sent with him. Missing phone, watch, and clothes. Where did they go??

If you want your family member to die then bring them here. My father wasn t in the best condition he needed rehab and Columbus ltach definitely expedited his death, he arrived their with no wound ulcer to have an unstageable one in like 2 wks causing sepsis. They are using the covid situation to not allow family member to visit to hide their poor quality care. I recognized something wasn t right and demanded him to be discharge or transfer to a hospital, he arrived to a hospital with worser conditions. I have allowed months to pass by before writing this review, if not I would have written an essay of our experience with this facility .

I was very impressed with the entire medical and administration staff of Columbus Hospital. What I really loved about them was their responses to my questions in a timely manner, I felt the hospitals team was very knowledgeable with providing me the answers I needed to make my decision on future dealings regarding medical attention.

My sister had been a patient here for over a month and has had wonderful care. The wounds are healing and she needed to be in a proactive attentive facility and she had definitely been taken care of with just that. The Uber service has been a help since our family and her friends live in New York it has been a blessing for us to come visit her more often. I know that she will continue getting great care with compassion and sincerity and professionalism at Columbus for as long as she needs it.

EDIT: Not sure if Vicky R is referring to my post, but yes, my grandpa could say a few words while he was on the ventilator. He would mouth words, nod his head, and say small sentences. I am a real person, not paid or an employee, and just wanted to share my experience with others. I added some pictures to show how he progressed from the time he was there to him at home.

I cannot express how thankful I am to the doctors, nurses, and social worker who have helped my grandpa through this difficult journey.

Background info: He first got sick with COVID back in mid-January. He spent a month and a half in the first hospital then was transferred to a nursing home that didn t treat him well. We had many issues with that nursing home and my grandpa was taken to the hospital for the 3rd time where they recommended Columbus hospital. I was contacted by the Liasion, Amelia, and she reassured me that they had a strong respiratory department and said transportation would be provided (since I live in the Bronx, ny).

My grandpa was admitted to Columbus hospital on 5/7/21 with a trach tube and was connected to a ventilator. After the first few days, we asked him if he liked it there and he said it s much better than the previous nursing home he was in, so we were happy with that. Also, we noticed how attentive and kind the nurses and therapists were when we visited. We visited often because we weren t able to see him in the nursing home before. On 5/19, the doctors had disconnected him from the ventilator and they had started walking him around. On 5/26, they said his trach tube was removed and he was doing good. On 6/9, he was brought home and is being provided with home care.

This was amazing progress, especially after he was in the nursing home for 2 months with no progress. Wish we could have brought him here sooner. The social worker, Alisa, was great in helping us bring my grandpa home, as well as providing us with equipment and home care while he gets stronger.

Again, thank you to everyone at Columbus hospital!

Covid has eliminated family visits, and this revie...

Covid has eliminated family visits, and this review is only about communications. Im sure staff does best they can.
For severely ill patients, detailed medical info is non existant. Nurses do not have time to talk about details, phone chats cant be regularly scheduled, Dr rarely calls, and barely 1 person will be informed, almost after the fact...
Suggestion to all NJ hospitals.... why cant messaging, email, or internet be used to keep family informed. Why must family rely on who might remember to call, from an overworked people? Thousands of dollars are spent, and not one piece of paper, nor anything in writing about the treatment, test results, or most importantly, patient's thoughts are communicated.

God help us.
