I have used them every year for an event for the past 7 years. They are the absolute BEST! I recommend the Columbian highly for any event. Polite and friendly staff, well run, and my event always goes smoothly. A++++++++++
Saw Shrek the Musical. It was very well put on. Venue is cool.
Always great people. Wonderful shows and preformances
Attended HooHaw for the first time last year and enjoyed every minute! The entire time, however, was wishing my parents were there. So, bought tickets for the four of us this year and certainly was not disappointed! Haven t seen my 90 year old Mom laugh that much in years, if ever. Appreciate the hearing assist loop as Dad would have missed everything without it. Great show and mostly different from last year. Will definitely be in the audience again next year (and I ll bet my parents will be too! All the way from Salina!). Thank you so much for providing a great evening s entertainment! Love it!
Great atmosphere. Fun shows. What a great place to spend an evening.
The building and decor are both filled with history. Loved the small feel and big sound of the theatre!
Interesting world fair murals from the 1860's upstairs. Admission is free.
Great people, fun shows, amazing history, nice atmosphere
This show (Hoo Haw) gets better and better and better every year! It is so full of hilarious home town humor! It kept me laughing at the fun and crying at the serious! The actors are all awesome! Just some techinical difficulties with mics and lighting but not enough to rate it any lower than a 5+ rating! Can't wait until next year's Hoo Haw!!
Fabulous historic theater in a wonderful quaint town!
Great talent showcased in a beautiful, historical setting! A true gem in the heart of Wamego!
The Columbian Theater. Beautifully houses a collection of restored six panels from the 1893 Chicago Columbian Exposition ( The Worlds Fair - Celebrating the 400 year Anniversary of Columbus. They are very large each about 10 x 17 tall. The history in this building is fabulous worth the trip.
Tribute to John Denver!! WONDERFUL Entertainment!!
The facility is worth visiting to see the art and enjoy the gift shop with its unique wares. The productions and shows are some of the best I've seen. Comfortable seating and refreshments to enjoy. If you're visiting Wamego be sure to add this to your stop as well as other attractions and shops on the main street "Lincoln."
Went to see Sleepy Hollow. Building is beautiful, the staff was very friendly, and there was easy elevator access for my grandmother. Will come to shows in the future.
The Columbian Theater was a nice place to visit. It is not glamorous but could be decorated up for large events. It has beautiful artifacts that are treasures, for any museum would covet. It was a great tour and we look forward to our next visit. The stain glass window was a Grank Lloyd Wright design, the large Mirror on the Mezzanine is from the The Colombian Exposition 1893. Along with the six lady paintings with $2million
As always a stellar performance! I highly recommend The Columbian Theatre!
I would NOT recommend renting the Columbian Theatre for any events. The contract is very vague, the Event Coordinator was extremely disrespectful to my wife, they started serving alcohol before we asked them to, which resulted in a very high bill, and they failed to adhere their own contract.
We go here all the time. Great Family entertainment and great prices.
Great place to visit if in Wamego, some if thae plays are great.
I am getting married at the Colombian on September 17th. I just went there today to talk wedding stuff and felt compelled to speak my mind.
The theater is an beautiful beautiful, spacious, and elegant place to get married in but honesty what has made me so happy with my choice of wedding venue is the Event Coordinator, Tara. From the moment I walked in there to meet her she was friendly, helpful, and very kind. Her personality and willingness to be so helpful for my wedding is what sold me on the Colombian. I could get married in a shack if the people who are renting me the shack are as helpful as Tara has been.
She has been upfront and honest with me about the timeline of the day for the wedding, the bar, the alcohol, champagne, costs and over all just everything.
I go in there as often as I can to get a feel for it and everytime I go in there and talk to Tara about an idea either
A. She knows how to make my idea come to life or
B. She says hey I have that! (I wanted easels to Hang signs on and she said she had them which saves me money, yay!) overall just incredibly helpful.
When I have questions she answers them in a timely manner and always makes time to work with her brides. I have brought a lot of my family and friends to meet her and see the theater and they all feel the same way I do. And the gal up front at the desk. She's always helpful as well. Everytime I come in there I say "I have another mom with me." She is very good about asking me if I need to meet with Tara or if Id like an official tour to take my family on. Thank you woman up front who's name I cannot remember :)
I can't imagine a better person to help me on my wedding day and a more beautiful venue than the Colombian in our small town of Wamego. I get excited when I have to go meet with her because I just absolutely adore her! I mean if I had known her before my wedding Id make her be in my wedding party because she's got it all together, and I am proud to call her not only my event coordinator and trust her to make my day special and care free, but my newly found friend. (Thanks for helping us meet Colombian Theater)
I will obviously update this review after this wedding but I can just say that I picture my fairy tale wedding coming true thanks to the wonderful staff at the Colombian and especially Tara.
The staff was very nice and explained what was from the 1893 World Fair and where to find them. A beautiful place all together.
Events, art gallery and shows! This Theater has it all and an amazing staff to boot. As a member of the Friends of the Library group we just had an amazing fundraising night there. The staff was so supportive and helpful. My daughter got to run sound for this year's Summer Theater Academy and had a blast. This is definitely a jewel in our community!
Not a lot to look at but the murals from the World's Fair were awesome.
I have went to several events here and a few plays. The staff are always friendly and the atmosphere is definitely one of the best in the area. Once you enter the front doors you are immediately welcomed by all the gorgeous decor. They always have very family friendly plays well worth attending!
Really Nice place to visit. With a great spot in history
Saw the Little Mermaid and it was fabulous..... well done!!
Nice theater. But, they are not very friendly or accomadating to groups renting it out. Their attitude seems to be like they are doing you a favor, even though you are paying for it.
If you haven't visited the Columbian Theatre, your really missing out
Wonderful, first rate venue!
Loved the show, loved the refreshments and the staff was top notch!
#Shrek
Wonderful theater with rich history. We saw Oklahoma and it was fantastic!
The atmosphere was very nice. The play was all local talent and very well put on.
Beautiful place. All the plays are very professional.
Event was wonderful except seats are uncomfortable.
Beautiful venue. Historical paintings along the interior walls are from the 1893 Chicago Worlds Fair.
Most people only know about the high quality shows they have, but check out their Swogger Art Gallery anytime. Super, original art by local talents.
Liked the food , needed a bigger dessert.
The play was very good.
Recently went to a murder mystery, "The Women of Oz" and it was delightful! Always fabulous productions at the Columbian.
A beautiful setting and a very enjoyable preformance of Hoo Haw last night. I would recommend it to young and old alike
Each year I say "Hoo Haw" can't get better! Each year I am wrong. "Hoo Haw" is without a doubt the funniest production you will ever see. The audience literally roared with laughter during the entire show - the only time we were quiet was when the musical numbers were featured by extremely talented vocalists and the Pott Counte Posse. Our smiles or tears replaced the noise depending on the song. Well, OK. Maybe we were a little rowdy at times then too. Thank you Columbian Theatre for providing this and all the other entertainment you present throuhout the year. After leaving "Hoo Haw" I felt like I had just had a great therapy session. Thanks again for providing the area with such worthy entertainment while promoting all the other great venues in the area!
We took our three granddaughters to see the Wizard of Oz this weekend. What a wonderful show! The actors were superb, wonderful dancing, singing, costumes and special effects. Just a marvelous show, as good as any I have ever seen. Our granddaughters were spellbound and talked about the show all the way home. It was an outstanding day in a beautiful theater. We could not have been happier. Thank you to the cast, crew and director. This theater is a treasure.
Beautiful restoration of an old theater. It would be worth anyone's time to go see one of their productions. Bravo!
Was disappointed in the show. Expected it to be more professional. The singers were great. The show itself was not what l expected from the Columbian Theater.
