Columbia Marriott Review

I love the cozy atmosphere, but it seems they don't have the staff necessary when things get busy. We ordered the same drinks on our second round, but it was a completely different price from the first.

Good location, clean, nice & friendly staff. Facility is getting long in the tooth. Parking arrangements leave much to be desired.

Overcharged for room so I am expecting a partial refund... However, great staff, extra clean rooms. Event conference and ballrooms too.. with an indoor pool

Loved the Downtown Location and Atmosphere. Just about name it and you're within walking distance.

The price was right at only $100/night and the staff was extremely accommodating, however the non-stop sirens (and this is coming from someone who lived in downtown Atlanta for nearly a decade) at night in addition to the throngs of drunks roaming the halls made it impossible to get a decent sleep.

I only stayed a night but the room was impeccably clean and the staff was very friendly. The hotel itself is gorgeous, very modern with touches of that Southern style. I was mistakenly charged for parking and Charlene, the customer service rep, made sure she adjusted my room rate because of it. "Thank you Charlene"

Hotel is very nice. Parking is a little wierd but would stay again. Also a/c could be colder

I was visiting an out-of-town friend, and I was pleased with the accommodations.

Nice hotel. Clean and friendly. Conveniently located in downtown Columbia. Only downside is that you can't open the window if you want fresh air.

I am only giving it one star because I have to so that I can write a review. I have had nothing but trouble dealing with this establishment. There was a room transferred to me due to Irma and individuals not coming in to town. The lady that I put into this room, so that she could get to work during Irma, had nothing but rude encounters with the employees there. I am still trying to get the accounting portion of it corrected so that the individual who transferred the room to me can be refunded on his personal credit card. As for me and my co-workers we will go back and continue to use the Hilton.

Walking into the Marriott was absolutely breathtaking. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous and the staff could not have been more helpful.

We live in Elgin and chose this hotel for a stay-cation since we used to stay here often years ago. Good room service, and affordable if you get the kid's meal (which has plenty of food). Clean room and wonderful bed. My only complaint is that the thermostat or AC wasn't good. We had to set it at 60 degrees but the room still wasn't cool. We enjoyed walking on Main Steet and ate at Cantina 76. Saturday mornings is the Soda City Market which is great but does affect parking since they tow all cars on that section of Main St on Saturday mornings.

My reservations were canceled by Marriott without cause-thankfully I had my confirmation number. Hotel requires a needed renovation and/or upgrade. The staff at the restaurant was overwhelmed and a long wait for food! Cleaning staff was loud and disrespectful (language) throughout the day. Two great points, room service was efficient and desk receptionist so as well.

Room smelled.like old tobacco smoke. Stains on the rug. No ice machine on floor. No refrigerator in room.

Great service. My room was near the vending machine so there was a fair bit of noise in the hall.

The rooms need more space for the price, and what hotel at that price doesn't put a microwave in the rooms?

Beautiful rooms, some with a view. Best part is that it is in the heart of downtown Columbia. Perfect location to walk. They also have great meeting facilities that can host large groups.

Beautiful hotel, large bathroom and living space. Only complaint is the TV and dresser were an unused wall sideways to the beds. Otherwise great hotel.

Had our military ball there and it was fantastic, wish they didn't take the name tags I had next to my purse though

This hotel is in downtown Columbia SC close to plenty of eating locations. The rooms could be updated a bit with more modern amenities but overall nice. The employees are nice and very helpful. Car was pulled around swiftly.

Unfortunately the Hilton was booked. I had never stayed at the Marriott before and, honestly, I never will again. They don t clean your room if you stay more than one night. The walls are paper thin. The internet is TERRIBLE. The interior is outdated. Spend your money elsewhere.

There was no coffee downstairs or for our conference. We had to ask for room service at 5 pm

I came here for my friend's wedding earlier this month. I had to call several times because I never receieved my email confirmation. Each time I called they said they had the same email address as when I spelled it out for them. Sure enough a week before my visit I called and a different, more competent lady, explained that someone had incorrectly entered my email.

Upon arrival in the middle of the night, I did not feel welcomed. The lady at the front desk told me and my boyfriend to hold on for a while because they were currently processing credit cards. We had just driven 9 hours and all I wanted to do was sleep in time to be refreshed for wedding activities the next day. We should not have been told to wait for a while in order to check in. We are the customers, and I felt like I was doing them a favor when in reality I am spending a lot of money to stay at this hotel.

This is a Marriott, not a Best Wester, but the attitude and environment I experienced here would make me definitely consider another location to stay.

This hotel is currently undergoing reservations; however, that is not an excuse to lack great customer service.

Had an event here. Unimpressed. The food was not good and cold. The caterers were really rude to multiple people in our party. Would NOT recommend.

We went to have dinner at the restaurant there! It was incredible, the food was outstanding and we will be back again. The waiter was attentive which was so great!

This is third visit in a year and we love this hotel. We are always welcomed, treated curteously and professionally. It won't be the last visit!

The beds were comfortable. The rooms were a bit noisy. There was no vent in the bathroom. And it was surprisingly dated.

Great hotel in downtown Columbia. Great service by very courteous staff. If I come back to Columbia, I would definitely consider staying here again.

Marriott in on main Street, good service. Had a few drinks

This hotel is not the Marriott standard for me as a Platinum Marriott Member. In the lobby and conference areas there are flies and gnats that swarm any type of food brought out. There are also inconsistencies with the air condition in the sleeping rooms. The thermostat in my room was set to 68 and it was sweltering. The sleeping rooms could also use an update. The concierge lounge is also lacking compared to other Marriott properties.

BED BUG ALERT!! The room we stayed in has bed bugs!! Stayed 2 nights and by the time we left I had bites all over me!!

The rooms are a bit small, however the hotel is kept clean. Rook service was awesome. Would stay here again.

I highly recommend this hotel! Across the board every employee that I encountered was above reproach. They were the friendliest group of people I believe I have EVER encountered in a hotel anywhere! To top it off the food was excellent and my room was very clean!

Front office staff is so helpful and professional! Great experience! Everything is within walking distance-it's all in what you make of it!

Rooms were clean, with nice spacious lobby. Front desk staff were very polite.

From Christian and Sharlene at the front desk to the executive lounge staff. My stay was fantastic. The pool is indoors and my kids loved it. I had lots of space to work on the tables near the pool area. Well done Marriott. Parking is not free as an FYI. You do have the option for valet parking if you want. If you self park use the level 2 spots for the best experience.

Pros for the hotel staff was extremely nice and helpful. Hotel is extremely clean the room was also extremely clean. Some of the space was out dated as was the Furniture in the room. The layout of the hotel is odd and the parking deck and its relation to the hotel takes a little getting used to. Got to stay on the concierge floor at an excellent rate and the concierge was great. The pool and gym were nice but the spa/hot tub had been removed and turned into a bed of flowers. Location is excellent easy walking to local restaurants and great position for the Saturday Market on the street.

Thank you to the entire front staff for your southern hospitality and accommodating my many requests and upgrading me. As a platinum member the little things to make my visit comfortable is very much appreciative. As far as the hotel, the comments regarding the hotel is outdated is true. It needs an update but still a comfortable place to stay. Thank you Charmaine in the front.
