Before I start, I will preface by saying that even though I hate the way they recently made news, this review has nothing to do with the sad fact that Marriott Columbia turned away a family seeking shelter from a natural calamity. My review is based on my experience so far after having stayed there for several months every week almost. Front desk staff is rude at best. They don't know how to treat their customers especially ones who frequent the property. I will spare folks from the details of actual events but i wouldn't stay here if it wasn't so convenient for me.

Great location, easy to get in and out of the city. The staff was wonderful. The hotel is well maintained. The beds were very firm, too firm for my liking. The food was good. I, especially, enjoyed the view of the sunset.

Beautiful downtown hotel with nice roof top bar. Rooms have historic feel with old hard wood floors, yet modern as bathrooms have white subway tiles with TVs in each bathroom. Staff is wonderful and accommodating providing upgrades when available.

Ignore the 1-star reviews - many of them are from people who didn't stay here and spammed this hotel after a bad PR story.

I live out of hotels, and this one is fantastic. Extremely friendly staff, excellent service, delicious food, and beautiful facilities. It's worth it.

I shared room with another State officer. The bellman did not use luggage rack from the closet. Instead he put 2 dark bags behind the large TV screen. I never looked there and freaked not finding the materials I worked on for2 months. The garage readers would not let me use the Free pass. I had to use a credit card. $28 for 2 nights.

This is the nastiest Marriott I've ever stayed in. The front desk associates are rude and unhelpful. If you're wanting to stay downtown anywhere other than this place, will be well worth your dollars. Anyone who rates this place with 3 stars or higher, obviously has never stayed in a Marriott and knows a Marriott are held to higher standards than what has been displayed at this hotel. The hotels needs to be renovated and upgraded. The front desk staff needs to be replaced or given customer service classes.

Rude staff. Not a film friendly place. We stayed a night to film an interview and after we had everything set up. They went out of their way and told us we could not film. It was Saturday morning and nobody around so we we were not bothering anyone. Pick a different place if you want to be treated good.

Great location, clean rooms, VERY friendly and helpful staff. Came here for a small conference I helped put together and they really helped us. I left off one star only because sometimes we d receive inaccurate information. For instance, our guests were told one night that the breakfast buffet would be open in the morning and it wasn t. The breakfast menu is just as good or better than the buffet. Try the Fried Green Tomatoes Eggs Benedict.

The Marriott is located a couple blocks from the state house. Very convenient location in downtown Columbia. Great service and amenities with an indoor pool. There's a self park deck connected to the hotel making parking easy. Great concierge lounge open for breakfast and happy hour for guest with status.

I am slightly surprised. And disappointed
...this is what Marriott flagship brand has become. Courtyard and Residence are better, cleaner. Columbia deserves better than this.

Our rooms and accommodations for the event are fantastic. The front desk staff is pleasant. My biggest complaint is that the hotel restaurant is horribly overpriced, understaffed, rude and nasty. We waited 40 minutes for undercooked food after waiting for cold coffee and warm tea for 20 minutes. We were late for our first presentation in the hotel ballroom. How can you charge nearly $200 a night, host conferences and not be prepared to accommodate guests? The best part was watching a man in a three piece suit be seated by one of the cooks because there were no hostesses or waitresses on the floor. Embarrassing!

The hotel itself has alot of amenities, but the rooms weren't modern and not cleaned properly also I found fresh red lipstick on my towel so that raised a red flag for me. Also my room was next to the highway & train track so it was very loud and difficult to adjust and rest. The stay was not suitable and I would never return!

I love the staff at this hotel. We've had a few meetings here and if there has been an issue with anything, they have been on it and fixing whatever needed to be fixed in a timely manner. I don't always get that service at other Marriotts so thank you! The front desk staff is amazing too. They will go above and beyond to assist you in any way they can. The rooms are nice...beds are comfortable. The restaurant on site has some great food...their shrimp and grits are out of this world. I do wish you served espresso type coffee drinks in the morning. I don't like going to the starbucks at the Sheraton!
Maybe one day...

Decent stay, nice and convenient area. However, overpriced and difficult to navigate around (the hotel is linked with another apartment building). Rooms could have used a little TLC too. Overall, nice stay and service.

Stopped in looking for some help after losing the heel to my shoe after 9PM. The front desk staff found some super glue and shared it with me without hesitation. 5 stars for helpfulness and friendliness. Thanks front desk staff!!

The one in this particular city is below standard of other Marriott facilities I've been to in other states. My room heat did not work, then it was fixed but ac didn't work after that. No offer of another room. No upgrade, poor view. Least service I've seen as an ambassador. Likely won't be coming back here. I am usually in town for 8 to 12 days monthly.

Great Location in the Heart of Downtown Columbia.

Great Location in the Heart of Downtown Columbia.

Very nice hotel right on Main St in Downtown Columbia. There were no bellmen that we could see, so the valet attendant found us a cart and helped us with luggage. Room was clean and was a unique layout being on the end of the tower which we liked, but could use some updating.

The concierge lounge was great. We went up in the evening for drinks and they had some hot and cold snacks and deserts. The comp breakfast in the lounge in the morning was very good. Nice place to relax.

The best part was that as soon as you walked out of the hotel, you were in the middle of the Famously Hot New Year's Eve Celebration. Could not ask for a better location.

Had drinks in the bar later, but they had no late night food menu. You would think they would, especially New Year's Eve.

It was a good hotel but not up to the standards I've come to expect as a regular Marriott patron. Positive- The hotel interior is beautiful and rooms nice. Negative- rooms don't have microwaves or fridges. The parking is awful, being in a public garage that you pay an extra charge to use as a hotel patron, and the standard free breakfast materials you find common in most hotels costs extra extra here. On different days, the evening staff was friendly and helpful but the morning staff was short and dismissive. I would highly recommend trying other hotels in the downtown area.

Walked in with my daughter who is pregnant (due any day) to use the bathroom. Front desk supervisor would not allow her to use the restroom since we were not guests. Have stayed at Marriott hotels many times for business but this one brief visit will stop me from using Marriott in the future.

Huge, Clean, Classy...this facility have a restaurant, boutique, huge ballrooms, huge gyms, indoor pool. The rooms were average size but the bathroom seemed small. The check in was easy and staff was nice. It was clean through out the building to include the hallway floors. Would definitely recommen staying here.

The hotel is nice and the amenities are great, I just don't understand why there aren't Microwaves in the rooms. I'm staying at the property on a business trip for 12 nights and would love to save some cash by eating in my room, a small microwave would have helped with that.
