Not far from the Rakin Museum of Nature you will find the Lumber Collection, a contemporary art museum, which includes over 550 works of art purchased by renowned art collector Yvonne Lamber and donated to the museum by him. His complete collection includes over 1200 works of art, so he has donated about half to the museum. The museum's exhibitions include works by more than 110 artists, including Alice Anderson, Jason Dodge, Jean-Michel Basquia and more.

For lunch, you can sit in the museum restaurant.

Admission is reasonable. Children 5 and under come in for free.

Opening hours: Tuesdays to Sundays 11am to 6pm, July-August daily 11am to 7pm.

How long should you visit? Between half an hour and an hour.

A great place, in my eyes essential in Avignon. The architecture of the museum itself is pleasant and uncluttered. The scenography of the works is for the most part well thought out (especially for the room on the top floor under the eaves !!).

Only downside: the student rate could be a little more advantageous. (Here 8 instead of 10 or 11 in normal price)

I am looking forward to visiting this gallery, but when I arrived I was told that their visits were closed the next day before the end of the strange newest exhibition next week. In other words, check to make sure there is an exhibition on the gallery before, unlike big permanent exhibitions the gallery usually has some sorting on anyway

The Lambert Collection has taken up residence in a very beautiful building in Avignon. I have been going back several times to see exhibitions and each time I am satisfied with my visit. 1. Because the exhibits are of high quality and 2. The place is very beautiful. This afternoon, I could see an amazing Robert Combas exhibition!

I only came for a conference, and our entire group was quickly guided to the conference room in the basement, but the little I saw from this place left me speechless: a brilliant mix of minimalist and modern works of art, which here and there rub shoulders with enough WTF pieces ...
I totally understand those who feast on the Lambert Collection.

Very nice exhibition

Very nice exhibition
The cartels offer beautiful texts to enter the works.

I came to the wonderful restaurant Le Violette next door, in the courtyard of Collection Lambert, was intrigued by the "sign art" on the building and the outdoor installations, visible from my table, so decided to visit here. Yes, 10 is a little steep for a maze of exhibit halls, and I understand there are renovations, but it truly didn't bother me. Unlike some other French galleries, here staff are super friendly, and some, amazingly, even speak some English, as besides the two temporary exhibitions, the signage under the rest of the actual exhibits was in French only, and that is disappointing for a Festival participating gallery that happily takes rather high tourist dollar. Two very good temporary exhibitions on at the moment, Brazilian artist Vik Muniz, using contemporary images of us today, whilst utilising the decoupage technique, to reproduce some of the Great Italian masters, really impressive even to an atheist. The legends and myths made up of us, contemporary humans - strangely moving. Basquiat, Matisse and Picasso exhibition was curated in a really interesting way - I am not a huge fan of all of them, besides Matisse, but I really enjoyed some of the juxtapositions here. Well worth the visit, and whilst there do not miss the fantastic Le Violette restaurant (unconnected to the museum per se), with exemplary service (in English and other languages too) and wonderful food.

Don't waste your time here. No really, we love art in all it's forms and visit galleries all over the world and we are not narrow minded. The items we saw in this building range from simple coloured paper cut outs such as a child would do to interior decoration with no more skill or interest than your average decorator is capable of. By far the most interesting objects in the whole place were the flashing exit signs!

Beautiful private museum. Very nice collection of modern and contemporary art. The building is also very beautiful even if it is not really functional: we get lost in the labyrinth of corridors.
The temporary exhibitions are uneven: sometimes there are things you wonder if it's still art, it's so purely conceptual.

Beautiful place in Avignon intramural: on 3 levels, a permanent exhibition with works to see and others less (perso monochromes I had a hard time: a painting painted in white and that's all ...) and exhibitions temporary according to the period: positive balance, almost 2h for 8 the entry

We were delighted by the exhibition of Yvon Lambert in the old prison of Avignon. We had been there in the summer, with our 5 year old and everyone seemed welcome.

Years later, we hoped to live the same welcoming experience in the "new" Yvon Lambert space. We had the most exclusive experience of all our cultural tours. No drinking or snacking on a cookie for our 2 year old son. Obligation to introduce ourselves into a torrid inner courtyard to be able to sustain it and quench our thirst.

What consistency in the middle of this exhibition retracing the journey of photographers in love with marginalized people.

To sum up: absolutely KIDS UNFRIENDLY and UPTIGHT space.

Unfortunately, it is this type of unpleasant atmosphere of the reception at the start that can distract ordinary people from contemporary art.

You have to like the abstract or the fashions. Otherwise, the restaurant is pleasantly concrete and charming, although a little expensive for the city. But hey, we are among ourselves.

Ok
