There's been only one reason for me to go here---the North American International Auto Show.
I've attended the Auto Show since January 1993, and it never disappoints. Sure, some auto exhibits are no-shows from time to time, but that's not the fault of the Auto Show, or Cobo Hall---at least from where I stand.
Beside the cars and trucks and SUVs, there are food stands and Ryba's Fudge.
In the previous decade, the food stands were in Cobo Arena, and I would go there and order two Italian sausage hoagies, no onions or green peppers, a bag of chips, and a bottle of Coke, to boot. Then I trekked up to the seats (there were very many!) and ate my food.
Then I went to the Baskin Robbins stand to order ice cream---usually various chocolate flavors, including white chocolate; then bring that back to the Cobo Arena seats and eat it; then I drank the Coke.
All that was for lunch, by the way.
Then I returned to resume checking out the cars, trucks, and SUVs.
Cobo Hall has modified its interior significantly. There's a wide staircase that leads to the lower level, to the other exhibits.
Back on the main level, there are two food courts, one in a ballroom to the south with a dining area facing the Detroit River; and another in an atrium facing Jefferson West.
Other than these, nothing else has changed. The Autorama usually comes after the Auto Show, but I'm not interested in that.

This was a great place to host a convention. Beautiful view and architecture. Not too far of a walk between areas. The only downside is that there was some reason the tabletop game hall was offsite. I presume it was a cost factor which is a shame. Also the price of food was a bit much considering the sheer volume of attendees who could buy more if it were a bit less costly. That being said, the prices technically could have been much worse.

Huge convention center, easy to get to and fairly easy to park at, if they have the garage open. Staff is okay, some of them can be odd, but most of them were nice. The place is clean and well kept which is nice.

We had an enormous event that took up most of the Cobo Center, upstairs and downstairs. The good: They were mostly excellent. The venue was clean and bright. They handled crowd management well! The bad: they ran out of food several times, maybe not expecting the very large crowds and there were not enough garbage cans that were not emptied enough, so the trash piled up a bit. Despite those two minor problems, Overall it was great!

Lose one star because of security. These people are amazingly laid back and loud. The conversations and language I heard from them was extremely inappropriate.
Other than that, great food and coffee stands and adequate conference rooms.

the bathrooms were nasty.
I was there for a Convention. I did nit get that warm or exciting reception like I have experienced in other states. considering this is the Home if this great Company. There were no Banners no Nothing to say we are here, What was going in in the city. They had the Jurrassic Park blasted all across the Marquis .
I was disappointed and embarrased this is my city, And It was embarrassing there were other states and countries visiting for tje first time. In conparison all other states you can feel the excitement you can see that we were welcomed, people can see what was happening. But not Detroit, We just looked bad all around. And for everything to be the prices they were.

Very spacious, almost too much so. They lock restrooms in places where events are not specifically happening, which is the dumbest thing ever since some events have 5k or more patrons. Not even a good idea from a security or facilities standpoint. They should indicate to patrons where restrooms will be available. Like post a map on the door of the locked restroom door where the nearest restroom is. What if someone is in dire need and cannot wait to walk that far? If an event is happening, all facilities should be open and clearly marked. We will all relieve ourselves on the floor next time. Some of us almost did.

Significantly revamped in recent years. Food court is large with a good representation of Detroit food with the exception of Greek or middle eastern flavors. Convenient to access with the people mover stop right upstairs. Can be nicely dressed up for more pricey events like the autoshow, but its pretty bare inside during most occasions.

I attended a conference there and was really surprised at how well the inside of Cobo Hall has been kept over the years. They have really done a nice job in the upkeep of the structure and the interior.

The only problem for me is that it is located in Detroit. The city itself is not a very safe place to travel to and be in for any length of time.

They recently had a name change from Cobo Hall to the TCF Center. The previous name reflected a shameful time in American history..slavery. Cobo was a slave owner. The good residents of Detroit felt another name would be a better fit for a predominately Black population.

A good place for events, I visit once a year when the car show is open and advise you to go and do not miss the opportunity
DescriptionCobo Center, formerly Cobo Hall, is a convention center along Jefferson and Washington avenues in downtown Detroit, Michigan. It was named after Albert Cobo, who served as mayor of Detroit from 1950 to 1957. Designed by Gino Rossetti, the center opened in 1960.

I was here for the auto show and I really loved the show. I was on the last day of the auto show, so it was crowded. I got to see the concept cars of Toyota and Nissan. As for e-mobolity you can see different electric and hybrid vehicles. The new Supra was also on display. I think the German auto manufacturers did not participated in this show.

Visited for the Motor City Auto Show. Combo accomodations were fine. I parked in the underneath garage for a hefty $15.00, but as it was extremely cold with dangerous wind chills I was glad I my was able to keep my elderly father inside.

Cobo Hall to Cobo Center, to now TCF is a great place for events! Beautifully interior designed, enormous space, and equipped for almost any situation you will require. Surrounded by parking options, but I used their roof parking because it made the most since. You can take an elevator right down to any floor you need, and bam, you're right there. I only posted photos from the room and area I was in. Very cool place for ANY event.

I was there for the Detroit motor show. It was my third time on this show and I must say it's smaller and smaller every year. But COBO Center as it is a modern, well organized convention center. It's easy to get there from best hotels in downtown Detroit. During NAIAS everything was well organized and I know organizers had safety in mind - there were even "bomb dogs". It's also nice that famous People Mover goes right across COBO Center, so you can also see Detroit pretty easily using it.
