My husband and I were stationed there for 3yrs. And our stay was amazing. Our son was born there and that added even more beauty to our living there. I miss being in this area. Perhaps one day my family and I will visit one day.

Was stationed there in 1988. From January to June. My first true love is still there in Sicily today. I am 52 now. She is 51. I'm going in November for a month to visit her. It will be the first time we have seen each other in 27 years.
So this duty station for me put a impact on my life for 27 years.

I m John Beckman & my family & I were stationed here at Sigonella with HC-4 SIG which was a naval helicopter squadron created at NAS Sigonella for the CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter! The people, the food, & the country were the best you could ask for when stationed overseas!! My whole family loved this place very much! I m now medically retired but wish to some day bring my family back here to enjoy everything it offered again!! What an a amazing experience it was!! Stationed there when our squadron had Initially Operating Capability (IOC) on 13 December 1983 for 2 years! Sicily was a beautiful country & we, as a family, enjoyed many rides throughout Sicily!

The homeland for all Dreamers! It's close to Etna shooting club shooting range; the perfect merge for civilian and military for funny moments! Love this place and his american holidays in Sicily.

AMC terminal is great and the people who run it are extremely helpful. One thing to note: The Community Bank (Bank of America) will not change your currency unless you're Military or on orders for Government Civilian. The Gateway Inn is very nice but is quite a walk from the terminal. The NGIS check in office is a very small building separate from the rooms that was extremely difficult to find because they don't have the sign identifying it from the front. It's on the side where you won't see it unless your really looking. There's a full NFCU office, a nice mini mart and a food court near the gym.

A real village ... A military community with discos, bank shops .. Adequate cleaning .. Strict rules ... A lot of work also for civilians .. A small corner of Sicily in the plain of Catania that we must be proud of and with a lot of respect for what they do for us

I was stationed at Naval Air Facility (yes Air Facility, before it was an Air Station) from November 1980 to November 1983, flying H-53's with the VOD Squad of VR-24 to ships and fields throughout the Med. I lived off base in San Gregorio, then Motta (up "Dump Road"). Too many wonderful memories to put here. My last visit was 2001 when I ferried an aircraft from Cairo to Andrews AFB. I could barely recognize the place from the development that occurred over the years - on both bases, NAS 1 and NAS 2. Some great memories in the Fly Trap (NAS 2) and Santo's Place in the BOQ on NAS 1. Finally, I hope to catch an AMC flight there someday and spend a week in Taormina. If you've been there you know what I mean.

Was stationed at Naval air facility (NAF) Sigonella from 74-76 barracks was located on NAF1. And i worked at GSE on NAF2. I was 18yrs old from NYC and sunny Sig was the best. Had my own place in Catania and got around in a old Fiat 500. Outstanding first tour of duty straight from A-school. Wonderful memories.
