Worst hall I've ever visited. In the indoor bouldering area, countless handles were loose and turned when grabbing or kicking. Countless covers were missing in the walls so that the substructure could be seen. If the holes in a route were not covered, you tore your legs when slipping off. Actually we wanted to climb excalibur in the future, but after this experience I have to say no thanks, the Risoko is too big for me.
And by the way, it should be noted that the entire jumping mat was totally dirty, is it too much to ask to just pick up a broom and sweep up the dirt that blows in from the outside?

Was the first and last time such conditions are not acceptable.

Great climbing hall. Staff are always cheerful, and there is always an energetic atmosphere, so you can not sit still when you stand by the wall. You can also enjoy it after a long climbing session.

Awesome gym. Bring your own belay device if you have one otherwise rentals are available. Massive outdoor freestanding wall with varied levels of routes. Outdoor bouldering as well as smaller bouldering area inside, and plenty of wicked indoor top ropes. Cozy cafe nook as well if you want to take a break. Friendly staff towards both experienced and newbie climbers. Cheers guys!

Since a month in Bjoeks, it is a beautiful location, the people are also nice and open. However, there is a major problem. The hall and the handles are very dirty. The changing rooms smell like dirty sewage and this since I started. There is absolutely no cleaning, the shower is as dirty as anything. As proof I took pictures when I climbed in the beginning, after 3 weeks you see the result you can see on the pictures filthy and smells very dirty. There is absolutely no cleaning, it is outrageous that that does not happen, I showered once and never again. Ceiling is open even now. For the rest, the handles are all dirty, if you see black handles, for example, they are completely covered by puff, a lot of handles are dirty, I feel. My girlfriend said that the dressing room of the girls are also pretty dirty and there is no cleaning. We have been climbing for a month now and ask Bjoeks to keep the handles, halls and changing rooms well clean. After contact, they still have not done that. We then called twice and said they were going to consult, with whom on earth? I hope that something will be done because people not only pay for climbing but also that everything is kept clean.

The climbing blocks are dirty, slippery and unchanged for many years. It is a pity because there is a lot of space for diverse routes, the place has a nice atmosphere and the staff is friendly. Yet, it seems as the organisation does not care about the quality of the climbs. Please clean the blocks! Make the place as great as it looks.

Really cool place for rope climbing! Outside you have an amazing view over Groningen! There are also some fun boulders outside. Very friendly staff, and a sweet cat to keep you company ;)

Nice location for climbing. Different levels of walls. On Tuesdays there are always instructors available to ask questions and to give you tips. Basic course is 80 euros (3 lessons of 1.5 hours), all necessary materials are arranged for you and you get one month of free access. Top club

Good service, nice atmosphere.

Good service, nice atmosphere.

Climbing routes are often renewed to meet the challenge, and initiatives such as the 40x40 competition (40 routes in 40 days) also keep it fun.

Very nice. Climbing with the grandchildren. They climb, we have coffee
Well cared for lessons and guidance. In the meantime you see all kinds of people and children trying to take difficult passages. Climb around a corner or climb over the ceiling like Spiderman. Nice afternoon and there was a lot to see.

We had made a call in advance about what the possibilities were for us as starting climbers. Was not a problem we could come along so we would get help with starting up and then we could go climbing. When we were at the desk in Groningen this was not possible, there were no instructors available and they could not help us in any way. Too bad that something else was told on the phone and we came to Groningen for nothing.

A really good climbing centre, with excalibur outside which looks amazing. Not much indoor building here, but they have concrete boulders outside and some building walls outside, although they were not set today. There's also a small climbing gym and a nice cafe by the looks of it as well.

Wonderfully quiet tonight on Boxing Day. Facilities are super. There is just a microwave and a sandwich iron. Can you warm your bite yourself? Good to eat your microwave meal while you can observe others while climbing. And of course excalibur is the outdoor climate.

Great climbing Hall, helpful staff, really good routes with new tires being placed regularly enough (while good/popular tires do tend to stay around a while). Chill atmosphere and fantastic outdoor wall also.

Unreal facility with polite and attentive staff.
I had made the long way from Australia to climb the infamous Excalibur and was absolutely impressed with the indoor facility as well.
I was solo, but the staff were more than happy to assist. I was fortunate to have 2 belayers found by the staff to allow me to climb the tower for my 2 visits.
I would advise to come as a pair or give plenty of notice so the staff can potentially assist.
While the tower is exceptional, with the challenging height, the indoor facility must be mentioned too. 18m climbs, with plenty of routes and challenging ones at that.
I would highly encourage international climbers to put Klimcentrum Bjoeks in your itinerary. It s reasonably priced and just an all round incredible facility. The Excalibur wall is great for the bucket list and just really good, sustained climbing plus it s climbable all year round. I climbed on a 9 degree evening in March under spotlights, awesome experience. There is camping options nearby too.
Finally, Groningen is a quaint little town that was an added delight to my visit. Nice city to walk around and it s a university city so it has a great atmosphere.

The best climbing hall in the Netherlands; thanks to the creative routes and the varied building. Perhaps the best in Europe, but that's also a bit because the rest of the countries just have mountains. They also have a freestanding climbing wall: The Excalibur. This is the highest freestanding climbing wall in Europe.

Mega cool hall, top routes in all areas and very friendly staff. In December with 5 degrees outside temperature climbed the excalibur, was absolutely cool. We would like to return to you, as the journey from the far away Winterberg was worth :)

The staff was overall nice and friendly, but I was not that impressed by the safety precautions.
1. We were not asked to provide any proof as to whether we can actually climb and belay when we went (e.g., tie a knot, use a belaying device), which has been the case in any other hall we have climbed before.
2. People belayed while sitting down.
3. People belayed far away from the wall so that it was necessary to walk between the belayer and the wall.
4. Top-rope routes sometimes cross 2 or 3 ropes, which means that ropes are often in the way. It also made it difficult to climb when it got busy (people started climbing a route that crosses the one I was on).
We asked about the policy and mentioned some of the above but were told that there are no general rules.

With a group of children came to visit and he enjoyed it. received good instruction and then everyone could climb and belay. Was well marked at which time the children had to help. The instructors gave the children plenty of confidence, freedom and guidance. Well done.

I love it. Everyone is super ncie and cool and the wall is cooler than you would think. The change the routes also in certain places often but not in way that you can't have a project. Best climbing gym I've been in

We travelled from Australia to climb the Excalibur and other climbing destinations in Europe. The facility is absolutely awesome. We were allowed to camp at the center. They allowed us to start climbing at 10am even though the center didn t open until 2pm. The staff were so friendly, offered tips on how to climb the Excalibur, and let us pay for all the fees, coffees, beers, etc after our 2 days stay. I will be definitely coming back on my next European trip.

The Excalibur is fantastically high and beautifully designed. Flows nicely in the wind. The handles are, especially on the overhang side, poorly maintained, which we have seen on 3 routes, loose and glue here and there. Not a nice feeling. Furthermore, the facilities are fine, and that you can camp for free is great. Too bad there is no further food to order. Definitely recommended if you want to hang out in the wind for a weekend!

This is one of the best climbing centers in the Netherlands, and maybe even Europe. It's got the highest climbing wall of Europe (37 meters!), a very nice atmosphere and the best owner you can imagine; you can pitch your tent in the "garden" (grass field behind the tower), bring your own food and drinks (order in), basically anything you'll do at home!
