Clarendon Square Inn - a Boston Boutique Hotel Review

Absolutely fantastic. One of the best lodging experiences I've ever had. Cozy and classy. They upgraded our room for free when guests hadn't booked the nicer room. Hot tub on the roof was great, with amazing views and plenty of privacy. Bed was super comfy, slept great. Just a very private, classy, convenient place to stay,

My Mum and I arrived at Clarendon Inn for a Christmas break and stayed from Christmas eve to Boxing Day and we were treated almost like royalty. It was a Christmas that we will never forget. We were so well looked after, the hostess was just lovely and so attentive. The room and house exceeded expectations, especially with its beautiful tree and festive decor. A real highlight was sitting in the rooftop hot tub overlooking Boston on Christmas night, it was just magical. It was so easy to walk into town and the get about from the B&B. Breakfast was lovely and there was always tea and cookies out throughout the day. If we ever make it back to Boston we will 100% be making a return visit. Thanks again for everything.

Cozy, classy and clean! My recent stay at Clarendon Square was exceptional. The Luxury Suite here is spacious and lovely, by far one of the nicest rooms I ve stayed in. The welcoming staff provided excellent nearby dining recommendations. An eclectic array of tasty breakfast options was offered each morning. But the most memorable part of my stay was the view from the rooftop hot tub. I absolutely recommend staying at Clarendon Square.

Overall I would not recommend staying at this property. For the rather extravagant price, you will get an average room, extremely sub-par breakfast, and few amenities, albeit a friendly staff. Should I return to the area, I will be seeking alternative accomodations.

This place was beautiful, not what you d expect. Staff gave us a warm welcome and made us feel very comftorable, way better then a hotel although a bit expensive, but with the rooftop jacuzzi, beautiful outdoor garden area, stocked wine cooler I could not complain. Definitely will be back!

What a gorgeous, warm and stylish B&B right in the heart of Back Bay! Our stay was short, but we will definitely stay again when in the area. Clean, stylish rooms - an amazing rooftop hot tube with stunning views of the city and a delicious breakfast enjoyed on the back patio. What more can one ask for?! Our host was gracious and very helpful.

Can t say enough about how beautiful this place and this experience was to stay here. I was skeptical when I made the review as it seemed too good to be true , but it was better than any hotel I ve ever been in. The help was amazing, the breakfast was delicious and on a chilly Fall day, it was wonderful to come back to hot tea (Rishi) and cookies/ brownies/etc. It was completely so much more pleasant than any place I ve been. I was given a tour of the entire place, including the rooftop which has AMAZING VIEWS and a hot tub!!!! It s also in the South End/ Back Bay Area, in the middle of a beautiful neighborhood filled with historic townhomes, parks, wonderful restaurants where locals eat, etc. Plus, it s a 15 minute walk to the Prudential Center, which makes Clarendon House just perfect. I can t say more.

Stayed here earlier this year and it was absolutely fantastic! We rented the big suite and enjoyed many fine amenities and accommodations, a big tub, rooftop hot tub. Right in the middle of Boston s downtown, there are many great food choices and a great area to just walk around and take it slow. Feels like you re stepping out of your townhouse and into the city for the day, and not your usual hotel experience.

So we decide to stay here again, and the overall experience was relatively similar except for a new $300 charge that they hold at time of checkout. This is a totally new thing and honestly came as a surprise as it is absolutely nowhere on the website, in any of the clauses (read through everything and double-checked, IT IS NOT THERE). There is mentioned a 45 dollar and full deposit charge made at time of booking, but we were charged a hold of 300 arbitrarily, AFTER checking out. They say that it has been reversed, but it leaves us over drafted in the middle of Boston. If we hadn t already secured our tickets home, we would be stuck here with no money or place to stay or way home.

The clerk who was on the phones ignored (yeah, she pressed a button to put the call to voicemail) our calls when we called under the number on our reservation (my partner s number), but when we used my number, we got an answer IMMEDIATELY.

Seems to me like a way to weed out customers who cannot afford extra things, a small, disgusting gesture of gentrification.

I work HARD for my money, but I guess I don t keep enough money in my checking account for them to randomly auto-draft/refund and don t deserve to stay in such a nice place, even if I can afford the room.

Once again, no mention of an additional three hundred dollar charge at time of checkout. Other people have complained about this in previous reviews. RETURN VISITORS BE WARNED.

Very disappointed as this place has all of the makings of a great repeat-destination, but the new help/management/policies just pushed me away for life.

Clarendon square is fantastic. Everything about it from the price, to the location to the esthetics is the best. Staff is very friendly and super accommodating with all your needs. The continental breakfast every morning was so fresh and tasty I actually looked forward to waking up early. The building is a beautiful old brownstone and being right in South Boston you could literally walk just about everywhere. The Prudential building is only about 4 blocks away so you can always catch the T if need be. My favorite part was the roof top hot tub. Open 24/7 except for inclement weather it was so relaxing it was hard to do anything but sit up there and have a drink. Great views of the surrounding area as well. Will definitely be back whenever I visit Boston again.

Sensational B&B. Personalized attention, pristine decor, very ample and beautiful rooms. Great location, walking distance to many good restaurants.
