Open access to the public! Able to walk around to see the classrooms. Nicely decorated inside as well. Situated just right to the lakeside so really enjoyed the view!

My son received scholarship and graduated . As parent, I think its excellent school ! So happy my son was able to attend, graduate, and have a great experience, as well as make quality life friends !!

Parking can be a pain in the lower back try to get there with public transportation. Other than that pretty good area if you are a visitor even better if you are studying or working in the facilities. You can feel the high IQ levels in the air. Read people read!

I had fun here as a student yet the underground alien air force base is a little intimidating as my dorm was above it but it was great once you get used to the humming sound at night

Dali-like buildings surround the main roman-inspired edifice. The campus doesn't have much to offer for visitors.

Really good college/school/whatever, and good graphics given by Google... But I wanna know one thing, why is MIT known as a private research school?

We visited here in Spring. Not crowded. The university is huge and has so many departments and buildings. This is one of the most prestigious universities in the world. We were so much thrilled to be here. We visited a couple of buildings and the great lawn area in front of the main building too. The surroundings are dreamlike and are very student friendly. There are many facilities for students to study, read, have group activities, play and much more. We took some pictures and imagined someday our kid might get into this great university. Thanks so much !!

Best University in the world. Period. I earned two Ph.D's, Theoretical Physics and Aerospace Engineering.

One of the best universities in the world. You don't need to be at any other place than MIT to get the best engineering education.

M.I.T was great. M.I.T is a great education experience and offers a variety of activities. M.I.T offers great courses. However one small complaint they stole my son Shaun. He somehow aged sixty years while I was frozen in a cryogenic sleep facility. That nuclear reactor they have in the basement is also a great way to reduce carbon emissions. The reactor is fueled by a beryllium agitator found in the Mass Fusion Building in northern Boston. However, it is one of best engineering colleges in the world.

Very nice college really difficult to get into but its probably worth it

tl;dr - good education, concerning lack of mental health care. Long review below.

The education experience is as amazing and difficult as one may expect if you are motivated to take hard classes. Nearly every class I took has practical applications in engineering and taught me something I remember. Getting job offers after graduating was no problem at all and made up for a lot of the stress and sleep I didn't get while attending.

Interactions with admin, on the other hand have been quite negative. Student government exists but is often ignored for all important decisions regarding residential life, which is particularly important since all students are guaranteed 4 years of housing. Postdoc and phd research are top priority to a fault at times, and finding funding for grad school is often incredibly difficult even if you get in. There is no need based nor merit based financial aid for graduate school. TAships are expensive so every class tries to have as few as possible. RAships are slightly better, as the Institute subsidizes half the tuition cost that the lab pays, but again they are very competitive to get and there are far fewer available than admitted students who wish to attend.

Mental health beyond freshman year is completely ignored. I cannot express how incredibly important it is to fix this. Despite multiple tragic incidents during the time I was there nothing substantial changed in their policy. I know multiple fellow students who had reached out in hard times and were ignored or quickly brushed aside. This is completely unacceptable for such a high stress environment where everyone will always feel behind to some degree. Unfortunately, I worry that because of the issues with admin not listening to students as mentioned above, any solution implemented wouldn't be fully thought out and be largely ineffective.

Professors are extremely accessible and largely good teachers. The disconnect with Admin is there too unfortunately, you wouldn't guess that MIT takes in so much money when going through lab funding stuff with them.

Unfortunately you can see how the money is being used, and a large chunk of it is currently going to real estate development in the surrounding area. This has had the effect of creating a food desert in the Cambridge area, as grocery stores went out of business and were replaced by restaurants in the $15-$20 price range popular with biotech employees in the companies adjacent to campus. Meal plans are incredibly expensive so nearly all students who have a choice will go without one will and save the money.

Luckily this is a school and its job to educate, and for that they are amazing hence my 4 star rating. But these other issues can't be ignored and substantially degrade the student experience.

Haven't been there, but I know it's an amazing place. My sister goes there. It's a REALLY good school. :)

I would stay away from this place. A bunch of weirdos live deep underground beneath M.I.T. They make synthetic humans called synths, and they have free thought and choice, but look and act exactly like humans do.

This is one of my dreams schools! I'm in 6th grade and I'm gonna study, work and learn my butt off to get into this school! It seems amazing and especially for me, wanting to be an engineer and all :P!
