These people are crooks. They charge $1 per minute while most other similar companies charge .05 cents per minute. They profit off people's family's who are incarcerated and this is the worst company you could ever deal with. I wish there was a zero star review.
Very confusing to setup and use and extremely over priced but you don't have any other options. Inmate gets a free 15 min visit per month that they have to set up but how is anyone on the outside supposed to know about it unless they pay city telecoin yo find out?
Bogus. I had my dl number changed and cabt remember my old number. I firget my log in info and they wont allow me to open a new account with my same number.....until I remember the old number. Or best part,,,call and get the old number! From where? Dmv, whom they say to call, acts like im speaking a foreign language asking for the old number. C'mon yall, its a jail telephone service. Promise nobody is trying to be me and if they are let them if thats what their days weigh up to. Hacking JAIL TELEPHONE ACCOUNTS.
In our town there are 2 facilities same county same jail but your media funds or calling cards aren't transferable. What a scam if you ask me especially since a person has no control over being transferred between the 2. Horrible service!
Citytelecoin is absolutely robbing individuals blind in complicated times. Their customer service is lacking professionalism. You are charged ridiculous fees and for calls that do not connect properly. If you contact customer service you are tasked down to like they are superior. Their website/app does not work as designed either.
This company is ridiculous! $6 for a 10 minute call. Then if the phone is broke or a bad connection they don t care they still take your money. I sent in a email about being charged for dropped call. Well when the customer service lady called me back. She was very rude , she spoke in slang ! Then had the nerve to say she watched the video calls and I atleast got to talk to my father and I said I was coming to pick him up so why would I need a refund ?! This company is out to get money. They charge a family a ton of money if you want to communicate with a person in jail. Not too mention the $8 service charge fee. It s not really about the money. It s about the phones not working and calling to discuss the issue and having some lady who apparently wanted to discriminate against me for some reason !

By far, the MOST expensive jail calling system ever. They take half of your money in fees/taxes if you put a small amount on the phone, just a FYI. I guess that's why the state of LA keeps inmates in on bogus charges, to keep making money off of them?

They don't even deserve one star! I put 40 on my boyfriend's account and it never showed up on his end at all... He's out now but out of forty they will only refund 27.00... They take advantage of people ....
Rip off. Scheduled a video visit using the allotted time (12pm). Inmate never connects, so the call terminated. Tried to schedule another call and was told I didn't have any funds. Called and was told that the funds would be held until 2am the following day. Called the jail and was told that the inmates were on locked down until 2pm everyday and could accept calls then. Why have open scheduling times if the inmates can only talk at a certain time. Was then told I'd have to put more money on the account and try the call again. Oh and a refund takes 120 business days.
Horrible app, expensive prices, poor customer service ... I dont recommend this company to anyone although often times this is the only company available at some locations and you have no choice but to use them in order to talk to loved ones that are incarcerated. This company profits by taking advantage of people and families already going through difficult times.
Way too expensive. It s not us on the outside that are being punished. We shouldn t have to go broke just to talk to our loved ones. They take half of what you pay for themselves every time! The video calling is always going in and out. The app kicks you out randomly. It s truly a rip off honestly. Shouldn t have to sell a liver just to tell your loved ones you love them! They need us to keep them going and staying positive so they don t mess up again! Horrible! I couldn t give a lower rating than I did or I would. Service isn t very pleasant either.
Complete over charge more then half of what you pay goes towards everything and one else but what you need.
It s unfortunate that I cannot help my friend out as I m Canadian and they can t accept a Canadian credit card. How archaic! Does this company not realize many Canadians travel or have homes in the States or have family there?? I m encouraging all facilities to reconsider using City Tele Coin! Very disappointed.
RIP OFF!!! The taxes they take off the deposits are absolutely outrageous!! You can count on at least $8.00 taken off every $20.00 you deposit. If that wasn't bad enough the rates they charge are! 0.50 each text sent and 0.50 for each text received, isn't great but I'm sure it could be worse. But the 0.50 per minute for phone calls is definitly way too much! I'm not sure if the inmate received the text messages when I sent them or not but when they sent me a message it would take on average at least 48 hours for me to receive it. Every single time I tried to use this system to make a payment, make any changes to the account, or check why I hadn't received messages I had been charged for, I had to contact customer service. The representatives are EXTREMELY RUDE & OBNOXIOUS! One even hung up on me. They also neglected to inform me of the extra money they charged me for doing anything thru their customer service system instead of doing it online. I can't see why any facility would ever use this service especially when there are so many more that are so much better available! I would never recommend city tele coin to any facility! If you or your inmate are unfortunate and get stuck having to use this system I apologize in advance because it will not be a pleasant or inexpensive experience for you.
Utterly disgraceful failure of a company. They've made a shoddy program that doesn't always work. Tried to accept the call and it just kept repeating the options to me despite the fact I could see on my phone that I had pressed "1." Tried to accept the second call and it immediately disconnected me. On the third call (and keep in mind every phone call gives you about 45 seconds of automated crap, advertising their paid services, etc. before you can even accept the call) the "one free phone call" option the program gives you has been replaced with you must put money into an account ($5 each phone call) and if you ask the the representative if, at $5 a pop it'll work, they themselves say they can't guarantee the call will work. Gee I wonder what the incentive would be to not fix the program? Could it be the fact that it's cheating customers out of their one free call option so that they HAVE to give money to this terrible company to talk to their loved one? FAST FORWARD I'm on the phone with Alex the supervisor who was VERY RUDE and slippery, basically arguing with me that there's nothing wrong with the program instead of just taking some simple customer feedback. He tried to argue with me that everyone else's call always work so it must've been MY phone and not their program. Then I asked if he was aware of all the one star reviews online to which he answered they weren't worried about anyone reviewing their company because it means nothing. ??? Can't even believe the company is still around - if they were in ANY OTHER LINE OF BUSINESS they would've tanked long ago. Awful.
City telecoin is way too expensive and they never going to pay it because we love our loved ones that are in there but they should definitely recommend better prices especially for customers that have been with them for over 2 or 3 years
Horrible customer service. I have been getting calls multiple days this week. I dont know any inmates. Then the woman starts gettin an attitude. Trashy.

I have been using this company for a couple months now, last month I spent $1,115 with this company. After every $300 you spend with this company you have to call in for them to call the bank to verify the card you are using is in your name. I have done this several times. This morning I relize I need to add money, well it wont let me until I call in for them to verify thr card. My bank is closed because of it being Sunday and they wont just overide the hold. Even though I use the same card and have been this entire time! New flash the name doesnt just magically change on a debit card!! So now I have to go all day without talking or visiting my husband!! Im filing a complaint with Attorney General and the ACLU! This is redicolus!
While your on hold you hear all sorts of things about how they are all about great customer service! Well that's a joke! The people that work there are so condensing and rude! If I could give them a negative star I would because they don't deserve 1 star!! You have to have a statement MAILED in this day and age.. ? Allegedly a $2.00 a month charge. However, if you made 4 payments a week, you would still be charged 2.00 each time...setting you up for a $8.00 a month fee??
The taxes vary from entry to entry.
One week tax is 7.23, next week its 8.46??
When you have cutoff or drop calls, CTC could care less, their comment is " Can you prove it?"

Absolute highway robbery. It is so unfair how they screw vulnerable people over with excessive rates and fees. You spend so much money and you receive next to nothing. I ve dealt with other companies that do a similar service, and all of them were much more reasonable and fair than this one. They really do capitalize on the fact that people will spend money they don t even have in order to be able to communicate with their loved one. It s sad.
